You could have a squad with your friend and NPCs, you could both be a team despite having different social status, one could be more focused on looting and shooting, while the other is more beloved by NPCs and takes time to listen to them

I think they said something like 45-50% of all dialogue in the game was the two protagonists, so it totally makes sense that there are plenty of voice lines to pick from
Kellog killing one of the spouses straight up just didn't make any sense. The Institue could have just taken the whole family and have them be residents in their underground world. None of them had any radiation dammage and the Institue could have had more than one DNA sample for stage 3 synths. They have a whole ass teleporter to easily teleport everyone and tranquilizer technology is so basic that is should have been trivial for the Institute to reverse engineer and should have been used to safely take the baby if that was all they wanted.

This is how vanilla fallout 4 should have been done imho. Having both Nate and Nora alive would have been perfect for a co op game. The story could have been stronger too. Having to potentially kill each other at the end would have carried more emotional weight than nuking Boston did.
I don’t think there would be a more perfect companion than your own spouse. I cared more about Nora in the very short time she was on screen than I ever did for Shawn.
I wish the game had an option for a response to our companions such as Piper and Nick for when we joined the institute that we did it for Shaun. It seems like the most realistic response, in my opinion.
The thing with the Nora Companion mod is that it feels like you have dual Protagonists. You customise literally both of them to your liking and while you don’t control the wife directly and she’s just your average companion, her implementation makes you feel like there’s two Sole Suvivors finding their son. The only way to make the mod even better is if you can change the name of Nora (I know you can via editing the files but I mean in-game), give her stats to your liking and you can switch to her, similarly to GTA V with its multiple characters. Like for example, the husband, for me, was a low intelligence, full strength melee build who occasionally uses explosives. And the wife was the opposite, using long range energy weapons and mostly doing things for the husband like hacking terminals because of her higher intelligence. That’s why I always use that mod for every vanilla playthrough, because I like the idea of Nora surviving a gunshot like the Courier and building her to cover my character’s weaknesses.
Now that I’m thinking about it this could have actually added a new layer to your decisions in the game. If in vanilla Nora survived and you found Shaun together what if it was possible for her to have different opinions and values than you? Like what if she couldn’t let go of Shaun for the greater good electing to stay on his side no matter what? Or what if she truly bought into the institute company line? Like if you saw the world above and saw hope making you wanted to destroy the institute but she looked above and saw only hopelessness and agreed with Shaun that the world above is lost. What if when Shaun banishes you from the Institute, if you haven’t convinced Nora otherwise or gotten full affinity, she decided to join Shaun and leave with him instead? So that when you attack the institute and meet Shaun on his deathbed Nora appears behind you and confronts you. Still loving you but resolute to protect her child as well as what she deems humanity’s only hope for the future in the institute. So she says Nate must decide. Join your family that you fought so hard to reunite and protect to help us save mankind or join the surface dwellers and be forced to kill your family yourself. No escaping to blow them up from a distance. Look them in the eye and finish them yourself before you proceed. If you choose neither then Nora tearfully one shot kills you and end credits play with Nora voicing it explaining how Nora and Shaun activated an army of reserve synths and coursers as well as the experimental institute power armor we saw in concept art allowing for them to fight back and defeat whatever faction you attacked with. Then you can keep playing the game as Nora who is now director of the institute following Shaun’s passing with full support from the directors as the hero of the institute that stood up and saved it from destruction in its darkest moment. I mean that sounds like a pretty cool ending to me😂. And I literally just cane up with it from five minutes of watching this. Bethesda couldn’t have thought of the same? Like the story is just fine in Fallout 4 but it’s GREAT with mods. Fallout is one of the best foundations for an all-time great game for me. Modders make it all time great game but as it is with vanilla with no DlC it’s just fine. I 100% would’ve preferred Bethesda let Fallout 4 cook for another year or two to truly make it arguably the best entry in franchise WITHOUT MODS. But like I said vanilla is just ok not great but a solid entry.
It would be logical. I think, that's why Nora was killed at the beginning of the game - to avoid multiple decisions conflicts. It's more clear for gamers and easier for developers when one survival make decisions.
I honestly found it annoying that this wasn't in the standalone game. Would've made the game fell more unique and less like a copy/paste of Fallout 3's first act.

This is an interesting concept BUT if Nora did survive, she would be in her 80s. 50 years passed between the kidnapping and Nate waking up. So Nora wouldve aged 50 years due to not being refrozen
She was refrozen. In vanilla you have to open the cryo pod again to see her body and retrieve her wedding ring. I believe I played this mod before and(spoiler alert) they explain at the beginning she actually did get refrozen. She gets shot but it isn’t fatal and Kellogg locks what he thinks is her dead body back in the pod like normal. But a couple days before you get unfrozen she does as well. She’s still injured but due to the life support systems and being frozen the injury , that was non lethal, didn’t kill her. But now that she’s free she does need to treat it. So she hobbles out of the vault kinda out of it and wanders until she comes upon Abernathy Farm down the road. All of this is in a sort of diary note you find btw. She says that the Abernathy family was kind enough to take her in and help her heal and get her strength back. Before she can get back to the vault to see if you’re still alive you get unfrozen and find her at Abernathy Farm. (Spoiler over) It’s honestly not a bad explanation. Pretty unbelievable sure like Kellogg being as experienced as he is missing a vital organ when he shot her or how it looked like she died immediately or how the wound didn’t progress and kill her despite being frozen. But it’s good enough to suspend disbelief. Like I can say it was a literal freezer so maybe Kellogg’s aim was off because he was shivering. I can say she looked like she died but it was just shock knocking her out from the pain of the bullet hitting her in the shoulder. I mean she’s a lawyer not a war vet like Nate. This is almost certainly her first time being shot😂 she can’t be used to that mental stress from the shock and fear or the pain following. And I can even believe the cryo pod can stop a non fatal wound from killing you for like 60 years. Freezing stopped the infectious bacteria from spreading, no vital organs hit so they keep functioning normal, and stopped the bleeding instantly. In Fallout, we’ve seen cryopods keep Ancient samurai alive for nearly a millennium and pop out in the exact same condition they were frozen😅! And it freezes instantly in seconds. If you got winged in the shoulder I can believe the instant freezing can stop the bleeding only for it to resume the moment you get unfrozen. So I can imagine a wounded, scared, and half delirious Nora stumbling out of the vault and just barely making it to the Abernathys alive. It’s not like she walked to Diamond City. Just right down the road so no raiders or anything and luckily found some good samaritans. I can see her passing out from blood loss right as she reaches the farm😄 but I can definitely see her making it there alive even if just barely. So not a bad backstory in my opinion. About as good as you can do in this situation. Some mod authors would just break immersion and make it so she’s alive without explanation but this one actually went the extra mile to make a believable backstory so major props to them.
Fallout 4, a game that is equivalent to those "watermelon with fruits inside" videos, all it takes for it to be good is for modders to literally extract everything and change the whole story entirely, which in turn we got Fallout London...not saying it's bad, but it just goes to show that if Bethesda even cared about the story then we could've had alot more than we have now...

This is the first mod I downloaded when I got my xbox because with a few changes Nora looks exactly like my girlfriend. I first played 4 when she got stuck with me but it was on ps so I was a little mad that I couldn't get the mod because of sony being dumb about mods but playing through the game again on xbox with the mod was a blast because my girlfriend kept making jokes like she was Nora and demanded I use the sarcastic lines because I'm a total smartass

The ultimate twist would have been whatever choice you take for the ending, your wife/husband would pick the exact opposite, and they become the final boss. So, you side with Shaun, they are against the Institute, you side against the Institute, they side with Shaun.

Caramba que mod lindo, não esperava por tanta profundidade em diálogos que estão no jogo tudo se encaixou tão bem e deu um tom tão sério e moral que para fechar com chave de ouro só faltou alguns detalhes como: a nora deixar de ser companion devido a desapontamento, um re-casamento pós-apocalíptico e claro que para quem curte, não obrigatoriamente uma coisa que eu exigiria mass seria bacana nas dificuldades maiores a possibilidade da Nora companion vir a falecer em batalha, mais sinceramente que mod perfeito, não é gráfico, não é algo para te dar vantagem com arma nova ou até mesmo um veículo melhor funcional do que certos mods porcos que vi por aí e sim um mod que melhora totalmente a história definitivamente o melhor mod de fallout 4 que quase me fez chorar...

@@AiSingingSongs I agree. I tested that mod using Xbox Series. I think it should be available on PlayStation also. It works without game crashes. I had only that mod installed and do not know does it compatible with other mods. Do not know how it works on PC.
So sad that this is not play able on xbox
