    • @calamitycal1
      @calamitycal1 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@roma291100 Yes. My first game, HammerHelm, released in 2017. It was also ported to console after I signed with publishers in 2019. Note, I don't do this full time and the game didn't make anywhere near enough to support full time. I also messed up my ea launch but that's a different issue. So I think it could have done better. Still, some extra cash is very nice and the game still makes a bit each month. The second game was more of a labor of love thing and hasn't made much. One important thing to note tho, is the landscape is VERY different now than it was in 2017. It feels like the vast majority of indie games getting any kind of sustained coverage (either from sites or big content creators) have publishers. Not all, but a LOT more than before. The number of publishers and indie games with publishers has skyrocketed. IMO, it's much tougher as an indie on your own to make a splash. Not impossible, but definitely more challenging than it was.

    Aside from the videos topic.. i think as someone who always advocates for not using strings at all, not even the Unity tag system, you would absolutely love Minecraft modding :D it basically consists of referencing things by string. Folder names, file names, file content.. everything has to be written correctly. And if something doesnt work, you have to check everything if you just made a typo somewhere, which ofc the IDE doesnt tell you.

    With the tools available on the market, if you have a little coding knowledge, a vision, and lots of time, you can write and animate almost anything you can imagine!
    It's a lot of work on your own, but once you figure out a solid work flow, the right tool set, and a bit of creativity, you can definitely do it.

    The other argument against learning is something along the lines of:
    "Oh! Yeah, I'm not going to learn programming because AI is taking all the low level coder jobs."
