    I used to own an organ hire company. C3 and Leslie for big concerts. I'm a Hammond Tech. I bought one of these and use it in my band. I'm totally happy with the Nord.

    With all of the controls on top and not buried in menus, this works for a gigging musician
    Easy to set up, easy to change during live performances

    On smaller gigs, I use my Nord electro 6D73 instead of my XK5. Leslie does not need to be replaced by the Neo Vent II, but the internals work well as they are. The negative thing about the Nord organ is that it doesn't reach the top octaves like the Hammond, I have to raise the volume more to reach solo parts. With a little tweaking, you get the Jon Lord sound with the Marshall amplifier, perfect for the acclaimed songs like Highway star, with Leslie Perfect Stranger. But it also has superb piano sounds, and electric pianos etc. I run midi via my Kurzweil PC4 on a keyboard suitable for piano. Worth a try Nick!

    In the settings there are some nice options. For example, you can set the horn and the bass to different velocities. You also can set different acceleration/deceleration times.

    Love my 73 key version of this it does all the stuff that my fancy Synths can`t really , I`m no awesome keyboard player but more of a composer of music over the decades rather than a serious player of any particular instrument ( apart from Metal Rhythm Guitar, I`m pretty skilled at that ) anyways I love a bit of John Lord and this fits the bill for that very well and the sample Synth in this is super great for me and I have that loaded up with lots of orchestral sounds, Mellotorn sounds and a whole bunch of ye olde String Synthizers ( Solina etc ) plus the fx required to get them to sound cool and so overall this is a great package methinks

    Another fantastic review! I have never owned nor played a Nord. The organ modeling on the Electro 6D is impressive and quite convincing (a lot better than "just okay") ...but it's not a Hammond and a real Leslie, is it?

    And on a related topic, what do you think about the organ patches on the DS (both the ones that come from the factory and those that are downloadable from the Roland site?

    Crumar mojo vs Nord Electro 6?

    • @marvinkmooneyoz
      @marvinkmooneyoz ปีที่แล้ว

      Nord has more of an interface, and can play two sounds at once. Mojo has better action for organ playing, a better organ sound engine, and if you like modeled E.P.s, better sounding Rhodes and Clav (Wurli I think is slightly leaning towards Nord). Nord will also have some extra sounds like Celeste and Glockenspiel, but they are single sample I believe, this was the case on earlier NORDs.

    • @organeu
      @organeu ปีที่แล้ว

      All these brands that copy the Hammond sound don't have a lot of self-esteem and inventiveness.
      Hammond engineers have worked hard to design and manufacture the new portable Hammonds since the XB series (XB1 and XB2) in the 90s, and today jewels of technology which reproduce the sound of tone wheels wonderfully with the SK pro series. , XK and the awesome new B3.
      These portable Hammonds supplant all copies.
      The only copy that is closest to Hammond is the Mojo made by Crumar in Italy.
      That said, playing the piano on an organ keyboard is not easy, the touch is not the same.
      This is where Nord can be interesting for a pianist who mainly plays the piano and occasionally the organ.
      But for a self-respecting organist, who, let's say, he has earned his whole life his salary thanks to the vintage Hammond organ, it is an unspeakable infidelity to play on a copy when Hammond offers the best portable organs simulating the phonic wheels.
      Here is my opinion and in my capacity as a small technical service provider, on 90% of the technical sheets, I note that a Hammond organ, a real vintage like the B3 portable or the current XK series is requested.

    In reality, changed my Mojo dual and 20 pedalboard with a 73 Nord 6D and, indeed, have come to this honky or medium oriented sound of majority of timbres - that annoyes me (in pandemy have fixed many old laptops and bought a EX5 and Rise 25, marvelous)! But organ is nicely done, a little bright compared to my gone Mojo but very good! Praxis is all you desire when you have this, and regret not having 2 bend and pitch controls... Eq help to get rid a little this medium oriented sound and have not yet put another external Nord sounds. Otherwise, I'm trying to have midied my 1-octave bass pedals with no results. Overall a very good machine (ah, in headphones noticed different miking techniques on piano sounds, great!).

    I've had an E6D for a couple of years. They are a great gigging board and coupled with something like a Yamaha MODX7 they can cover most rock band covers. A great thing about both those boards is the ability to add new patches ( sounds) to taste. Samples can also be programmed to be triggered from a key which always impresses band mates. I owned an Electro 3 for 9 years beforehand and it never let me down. Not sure if you've covered Black Night but a lesson on the solo would be cool. Thanks Nick, cheers from Oz.
