Thanks disturbed this was really useful even if I am a bit late to the post but just stayed playing a bit again in the last few weeks and sheep are my first venture
Great work. I find the stats so interesting and the difference between base game and with MP. Maize Plus really helps with the realism of livestock farming. Have you looked at the EnhancedAnimalSystem mod yet? Looks like it could be a bit “cheaty”
Thanks. I've added the EnhancedAnimalSystem to a couple of saves. I'm not sure it's overly cheaty as I think it drops the sell price of animals a bit. For things like beef it probably makes them even worse.
@@DisTurbedSimulations so I just ran some tests with grazing and enhanced animal systems. lamb prices are about the same, 100 vs 125 base game. a 3 year old sheep is worth $1000 in base game but only $300 in the enhanced. After 36 months in the enhanced system if you start with a sheep and a ram you end up with 36 animals and only 22 in base game. and I had a lot of rams as off spring . you could in theory sell every young ram and replace it with a female. You would need to buy some sort of animal transport because the fee is 50% of the sale price. If you run them on pasture so $0 in food costs and with the up tick in offspring I think it could be pretty profitable
If you're natural grazing the lambs, it would stand to reason that the best time to sell them is the month before the grass stops growing for winter???
Thanks for working this all out and presenting it. Have you considered sheep profitability if you start using the games production chains? Would they be more profitable if you had the spinnery and the tailor shop ? I'm guessing, in the long term, this would affect sheep profitability quite massively as fabric and clothes sell for large amounts of money, even on hard.
in my maize with afa.. they just eat conditioned grass for all 4 bars. hay isn't even on 3 of them in mine. is that correct? i mow the fields once a year to feed 200 of them for a year. then i mow 2 more times to make 2 loads of silage bales.
awesome, so is fresh, included in that as well? from the grazing mod? i'd like to feed them fresh for 8 months and i can work on that hay/combo you mentioned for the winter months. @@DisTurbedSimulations
Loving this string of videos, would quiet like to see a comparison to maybe a base game production where you could upscale the products produced where possible!
clarkson's farm showed us that shearing sheep is just to make the sheep comfortable and farmer gets almost nothing, because most of the wool profit goes to the people that shear them. the only money from sheep is meat I would like to see what profit you get from sheep selling them by month
So my general assumption when doing animals in FS was to always buy the cheap new animals letting me get more animals and then being overall more profitable. Though after your vids it seems like you might be better off buying animals ready to produce. I mostly do a start from scratch type scenario so money is usually tight first 2-3 years.

Very useful. Thank you. I would definitely be interested in more videos like this one. I will now go and check out the cow's version.
Thanks, hope you enjoy the rest of them

If you have a big enough pasture yes that makes sense :)

Yup I have - th-cam.com/video/CIhD6hxo_OY/w-d-xo.html
@Disturbed Simulations of course you did !!
You're a credit to the community, thank you.
Definitely the gift that keeps on giving with the farm supply pack
It's a great addition for economical animal food in a lot of situations
@@DisTurbedSimulations it’s also a great solution to use until you have enough of your own crop to feed the animals

Conditioned is included to enable the grazing mod to work.of you chose to use that as a feed mechanic that's up to you.

@@tjeffries4863 Fresh grass is only 3 of the 4 groups, you need hay. But you can edit the feeding however you want for how you want to play.
@@DisTurbedSimulations trying to keep it interesting, haven’t tedded this whole play through. I’ll buy a field for hay
Interesting video again D/S the lamb video would be interesting as well keep up with the great videos 👏👏👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Pete, Lamb is always a favourite lol.

Interesting, so for example the effect of putting wool through a spinnery?
@@DisTurbedSimulations Yep, exactly.
Probably more relevant for the ones that produce extra, like with beef, manure and a BGA
@@DisTurbedSimulations yes fair point.
Amazing video thx! And i would love to see the lamb video you are talking about when to sell them

Yeah, clarkson's farm and a few other UK farming shows is where I got my thoughts from. Definitely need to do a follow up video on the lambs

@@daryldavis9744 I think the best move is to buy them when they can produce so they start earning right away.
Kind of got the impression that sheep weren't too profitable from Jeremy Clarkson's attempt at "natural mowing".
Yeah seems in real life it's hard to make money from sheep, so maybe this change reflects that
wow TMI
