Thanks McClenney for an awesome review. I really liked that you were playing things at a studio volume and not peeling the paint off the walls with the Twin Reverb dimed or adding so much dirt you couldn't really hear the pickups. Your finger style demo on the neck PU had a really acoustic sound that sold me on the guitar. I have watched literally hundreds of guitar reviews on TH-cam and I would say this is pretty much at the top in terms of really showing what the guitar sounds like. Great job!
The pau ferro was indeed super ugly but I finally got to play one recently and tbh I wanted it so bad. Played excellent and the humbuckers sounded super versatile
An immensely tasteful presentation of this obviously delicious instrument! This soft-spoken gentleman should be chosen as a Fender Ambassador, and paid accordingly. Just got my Jazzmaster Player 2 today. Soon to tune it down to my usual C# standard with a set of D‘Addario Medium Jazz 13s on it, and off we go into Player‘s Heaven (or so I suspect).
Got one of these arriving today, been playing Jazzmasters for 30 years and this stripped down version looks right up my street. I never use the rhythm circuit so that’s not a concern, slightly worried about the vibrato being moved but will soon find out if that’s an issue.
Could you post your impressions? I'm looking for my first JM, and suddenly player II popped up! By the looks of it, I think it will be a good purchase.
@@nenadbozic4816 As a first Jazzmaster I think it would be a good option. Personally I would prefer the vintage vibrato placement but I don’t use or miss the rhythm circuit. The necks on these are slightly slim for me but comfortable. I’m impressed with the sound of the pickups too, I usually prefer alnico 2 but the 5s here are nice. Also all I had to do to get it playing nicely was to replace the 9 to 42s with 10 to 46 and fiddle with the intonation a bit.
@@stuartpowell255 Thanks for the input. I was decoding between Classic vibe squier and JMascis actually; I liked the 40th anniversary Jm but they are sold out and can't be found nowhere... i guess I'll stretch a bit more and get the player II ☺️
@@nenadbozic4816 I tired the Player 2 and the J Mascis.. The J Mascis sounds noticeably different, more of a darker, P90 sound, which is cool, but it's not as bright and spanky as the Player 2. The Player also felt much better setup - which is why I went for it in the end.
Tempted me to buy Player 2 series Telecaster Yellow colour. I have already Player Plus Strat 3 S Maple Fretboard. I was thinking to buy Telecaster but could not decide which model should I go for! Now with these new series of Player 2, decision making for me is quite easy. So I think it should have been a good move if I choose to get Telecaster ( Traditional pickups and not two humbuckers) Player 2 series Yellow colour so that there is less chance of post buying regret. Thanks.
Had the jazzmaster for a couple of days, had to fiddle around with the intonation and change the 9 to 42 strings it came with, Does anyone actually use that gauge? . The modern vibrato placement looks and feels a bit weird, I know it helps with break angle but I would rather have it the old way and shim the neck pocket instead. Not sure I would have noticed the rolled fretboard edges if it wasn’t mentioned in the spec sheet. I like Jazzmasters a lot I’ve been playing them pretty much exclusively for 30 years and this one feels like a decent modern take that I think a lot of people will like.
@@atripforlife That was my thought too. Something to compete with Japanese Fenders and at a solid price but Fender keeps wanting to mess with removing and changing features
@@atripforlife They're convinced no one uses it. I see people with tape over the switch all the time. Does look weird without it though. I like it as a series circuit on the Am Pro II
@@grawman67 there's not a single musician I know that uses the rhythm circuit, and idk if you ever played one live but the sliders actively scratch and scrape the skin off your fingers. There's a reason why so many artists and musicians either duct taped the rhythm circuit as a whole or cut off the sliders. It's called a Player series for a reason, it's more practical and functional

Great demo! He’s got a nice sweet soft touch! Loving these new Player II series! This green is perfect!
Thoughtful, tasteful and understated. Informative and classy. Well played.
They got rid of the humbuckers and pau ferro! I will buy one.

Very nice demo.
Great demo, thank you! Very nice samples

Which is best for alternative indie ? Strato,Tele or the Jazzmaster ?
The one you like the sound of
Yes
I wish there's rhythm circuit but that's okay, there's rosewood neck. I'll buy the color black .

bro look like mbappe
Mpabbe impersonating Marvin Gaye
Anyone get one of these yet? Wasn’t very impressed with how it sounds in the videos but I bet it plays good.
Is this the Birch Green finish??
I think so, photos of this finish don’t do it the justice! But it looks amazing here

What kind of P bass was that???
Hopefully the Player Plus II will have the rhythm circuit...
Hardly anyone uses the rhythm circuit.
Needs a black pickguard bit other than that its awesome ❤
I'd put a tortoise one myself
Good boy. He repeated exactly what he had been told
No rhythm circuit 👀
No one uses it 👀
No rhythm circuit and they moved the trem? Still can't get a solid JM at this price range new. Buying a used Japanese is a better purchase
It looked like the perfect guitar then they decided to remove the rhythm circuit 😩

The classic vibe is the move under 1k in my opinion
I knew people would be complaining about no rhythm circuit, the thing that most people never used anyway.
