Some thought he had retired…some thought he was dead…some thought he had joined the circus…some thought he had booked a leading role in Rain Man 2. Well they thought wrong !! Ned - you do a great job of allowing me to experience digging again - I always hoped that when I retired that I could do exactly what you ate doing. Unfortunately getting old sucks and I can't go digging. Go for it now while you are young enough to do it - you'll regret it otherwise. Keep digging and party when ever you can!

I hit a privy in santa cruz years ago with a thick layer of broken canning jars and seeds and when i came back about month.later there were tomato plant all around the filled in 70's hole

Good to see Chuck E Cheese and of course Paige! We dug a bottle with the same exact indented panel as the one you pulled at 36:01, but ours was aqua and the shape of a polish/blacking bottle.

Hey Ned I was reading a article years ago about a guy digging in Texas who dug two Codd bottles embossed I think Fort Worth Texas ( I might have the city wrong?) anyway I was surprised to see Codd bottes over there , Do they ever turn up in California?

Yes ! There are actually western Codds. There is one from Los Angeles and one from Sacramento that I know of! Both are circa 1880s and RARE.

How do you dish out the bottles that you dig up? is it the person who digs it up keeps it,or do you take a bottle if you don't have it?1s therea good market for selling bottles in america? the young woman who digs with you is very hot,you would never think that a woman who looks like her would want to be down digging in a crap hole.
It used to be that the digger who pulled out the bott would have the right to keep it but that is bizarre to me because then you’d have everyone fighting to get into the hole and the older diggers would have a disadvantage so we do a coin flip each time to figure out the picking order. It balances out eventually
Oh and yes - there are many VERY collectible bottles in America. I dare say there are more here than from Europe. Especially value wise
the sought after bottles here in UK are the onion bottles from the 1750's prices start about $200 to $3,000 ,when i worked on building sites we used to find loads of the ginger ale bottles and ink ones,glass ones would mostly be the "torpedo bottles" that had no flat bottoms or the cod bottles.
