I bought a VOCOlinc humidifier which is great it integrates with HomeKit very easy. I think is a better option since it doesn’t requires a hub like the SwitchBot.
Hey Brad. I just took the plunge and ordered a couple of switchbot hubs and bots. Fingers crossed they do what I’m hoping for which will mean I don’t need to delve into HomeBridge or HOOBS for now. We’ll see. Anywho, I just watched another video to see if the bot was likely to fit on the coffee machine I’m about to buy and he mentioned the issue with buttons with raised edges or big ones it can’t quite press down enough. He suggested bumpons. I bet they would work on your coffee machine.
Thank u for continuous nice vids … I used to like this brand .. but gave up on them … they seem to be not interested in HomeKit nor thread ! I tweeted them about this and their answer didn’t show any interest… their devices are still working on Bluetooth and they require a special hub … integrating with hoobs isn’t always relatable nor responsive … basically to sum that up … it’s everything a HomeKit-user doesn’t like in one brand … I hope the competitors like Aqara / eve come up with alternatives to what switch-bot is offering
Yeah, I understand what you mean. They have some helpful and creative products, but it's challenging without HomeKit support. Siri shortcuts is nice, but I'm really hoping to see HomeKit support in the future.... We will see...
Brad, hopefully you know that Home Assistant can do the same things that HomeBridge can, and much much more. I used to use HomeBridge until I switched over... they can also be used in conjunction. Food for thought...
Hey, so they actually do now sell a retrofit for horizontal blinds, called "SwitchBot Blind Tilt". Would be cool if you tested them out because it seems like the cheapest solution (that I could find) and you don't have to take down your existing blinds. Doesn't mention HomeKit though.
When using HOOBS to control the Switchbot Bots, have you noticed if it really needs to be kinda close to your HOOBS box since it’s using BLE or is it working nicely even if they are far apart from each other? Thanks
Hi Brad, I have the same airexchanger controller. Did you use a seperate humidity sensor within home kit like the EVE? And if so was it easy to automate?
I don’t automate my HRV based on humidity, I mainly used switchbot to turn it on and off. You’d need to manually bring it into HomeKit using homebridge. There is no indicator of the fan speed etc. Not sure if this helps but let me know if you have any other details or context share.
Hi, I have a Heimvision Greets C1 video doorbell, Apple TV 4, an old 2010 MacBook Pro running High Sierra. Can you please tell me if I can use all this devices to work with HomeKit, to control my video doorbell using this method from.this video or any other method. Please let me know Merry Christmas! I want to receive a thumbnail on Apple Watch notifications when someone rings the doorbell.
I thought that was a great idea my range hood is left on all the time but if my wife saw the switch stuck on the front of her range hood she would not be happy
I've got a boatload of smart switches, outlets, and bulbs all working with numerous sensors. I'm very much into smart home automation. But I don’t think you could pay me to stick those clunky button pushers or curtain opening bots all around my home. Thanks for the great videos, Brad - always informative. But most of those devices are just too ugly and obtrusive in their design.
I 100% understand. Let me just say the bots I showed in the video are no longer installed,. However, I see how they can be useful. It just depends on where they are going and how bad you want to make your device smart....
Do they support HomeKit in 2024 deciding on Aqare or switchbot to build a new home automation

Thanks for sharing, I would love to test that out. Always best when it's native to HomeKit.

apply an extra layer of double-sided tape to make the SwitchBot taller
Smart idea, I will have to give that a try!!

Yup, that is the drawback for sure!
