Guys India is the totally independent country there is no monarch in India. Our president is the supreme commander of the defense forces and he is the supreme leader of the county and prime minister is his subordinate who manages and takes decisions on behalf of the president. But the decision becomes law only after President's signature. And president is ofcourse Indian only. thats not always true...some regiments are state based alright, but some are region specific (like the SSF - special frontier force. Rajputana Rifles or Mountain Strike Corp etc) and some are even tribe or caste based, though now most of the caste/tribe based regiment do have representation from other castes and tribes, for eg. Mahar regiment (though people of other caste too can join this now) or Rajput regiment but other regiments like Gurkha regiment (of whose great Sam Manekshaw sir was legendary representative) or Sikh regiment, the person of similar caste is a strict criteria, though officers are of mixed representation! This is how diverse our army is just like our Nation, but still strongly bonded....the true aspect of Unity on diversity! Jai Bharti!!

India have many different regions languages, ethnicities, food habits and in the past had many kings and kingdoms in these different regions and so basically speaking all these regions had warriers and people living in these regions are emotionally attach to India and are proud Indians. People give respect to solders who laid their lives for nation and Really speaking we have at many places in North India places which are kept as temple of worship and in these temple we have statues of a Solder who laid his life and still shows his presence and fulfill yours wishes if you go there and pay respect in these temples. There is one such place in the Mountain region where the solder who laid his life in a war with China is still worshiped and the temple was constructed by Defence forces and He still shows his presence there and alert or guide Indian regiment in case of any conspiracy. He is still getting his Salary & promotion in his Military Rank.

Majority of the force's uniforms displayed in was ceremonial..... and the camel squad is of Rajasthan Rifles.... and yes they patrols the Thar Desert.

Yes all these battalions or groups were used in war!!
India has all kind of landmarks present in world we have moutains, deserts, plains, plateaus, beaches,island,coral barriers all of them so we need these battalions in specific areas like that camel one
As of Rajasthan it is a state in which a deser named Thar desert is located and so these camel battalions are used to patrol in these areas
