      Carl Moreland explained the specifics of single frequency operation of the X-Terra Pro in salt/surf on the Detector Prospector forum about a month ago….here’s his explanation of the machine operating at the saltwater/surf beach in 8 KHz SF:
      “If it's an Equinox locked in single freq mode then those single frequencies are still square-wave driven and, as such, can be demodulated at 1x & 3x frequencies to do salt cancel. This is exactly how the Fishers CZ's worked.”

      Same!

    • @DIG_5050
      @DIG_5050 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. This is a great way to use ‘Nox components and parts of the code with a new LCD display, presto, a new detector. Carl M.’s explanation makes perfect sense as to why this machine works so well on the beach. What a great, low cost option for the occasional beach hunter.

    I Always leave a spare pin-pointer in the car with spare batteries for this reason as easy to forget when rushing about, Impressive for the money, my old nox 800 would give iron tones on deep targets and dug them to find non ferrous, good targets, XP D2 does not do this so give me more confidence, this new Mindlab is still a great waterproof machine for the bargain price 🎉🥳🥳🥳

  • @tnsharpshooter8517

  • @andreweast2121
    @andreweast2121 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    ...historically in order for a machine to be stable with no falsing in saltwater, it either needed to be Pi pulse machine( dig everything) , or minelabs multi frequency machines like the excal or sovereign and they were the only game in town on multifrequency for years until now. Machines like the at pro and simplex false pretty bad on the beach and only use single frequency....so if minelab has done something with single frequency working on the beach then i am really curious to see how it works out.

    • @MrBottlecapBill
      @MrBottlecapBill ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They kind of cheated and you only get 8khz in beach mode. Which means decent depth as you saw but lower sensitivity to small targets which helps eliminate the salt issue by desensitizing the machine in a sense. Or rather lowering the point at which a target will register at all. Plus they still have the software they've developed over the years to make the machines quiet in the salt either way but I suspect the lock in 8kz was the main reason. You can still hear a little bit of chatter in the background but it's not bad. I'd like to see how it performs on small gold in beach mode although I only have fresh water beaches around me so I rarely use beach modes on any machine. All the land modes work in the water easy enough. :)

    • @Bootyhunter1971
      @Bootyhunter1971 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah fisher 1280x and detectorpro units "worked" on the beach at 2.4 khz, lower frequencies are less susceptible to the effects of salt water. The trade off is less sensitive to small objects and less sensitive to gold. So while it will work, its not the best choice. Still very impressive, dont get me wrong, but if you have a choice of smf or this id take the smf detector. Now if you are on a budget and can only own 1 machine, this would be amazing.

Thinking about getting this for a back up to my Legend or may use it instead of Legend. A lot of it is going to depend on separation & recovery speed.
