    I was just about to write and ask you when you might be doing this model. I really don't know how you keep up with all these builds. You're the best, Wayne! I am waiting for the full kit delivery to arrive and feel like a kid on Christmas morning with the anticipation and excitement I am experiencing. P.S. - I am 74! Still a kid at heart.🥰 Thanks again for all you do!
    P.S. That screw box is a great idea to provide safe and quick access to the many sized screws. When I purchased the 427 Cobra SC kit, I bought a similar clear box storage item at Lowe's, but mine is vertical with 30 clear slide drawers. I taped all the screw part # tags onto the front of each drawer and it works perfectly!

      Absolutely, because the spokes are round as they should be. The easier way spokes are flat and look like poo poo💩. Have you ever seen flat spokes on an auto wheel? Of course not.

    Thanks for posting this Wayne, I watched the complete video. I did the E Type wheels 'the hard way' as that was all that was available! I had to walk away a couple of times but finally finished them! Well worth it once completed.

    • @Loulovesspeed
      @Loulovesspeed ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Robert Lees - I had to chuckle at your comment...."I had to walk away a couple of times". It reminded me of my first 1:8 scale Pocher 1935 Mercedes 500K Roadster, with only the hard way to build its wire wheels. That was in the early 1970s. I have never been so frustrated trying to build a model car component! I finally realized there was an error in their instructions so I drew my own diagram and finally completed a wheel. Wayne's 2 hours to build one is but a fraction of the time I spent, but like you said, the beautiful look and great satisfaction I had in completing that first wheel was well worth it. A good thing I felt that way since there were 5 more wheels to build, as it had 2 spares mounted on the trunk!

      All you have to do is buy one of those clear pill boxes, put each group of screws in each compartment and label with stickers or removable packaging tape. I purchased a standup 30 drawer pull out style at Home Depot which I think is easier to use.

    I bet the spokes you make yourself look 100% better than the ready made wheels. I was hoping you'd manage to get this one. I absolutely love old racing cars and vintage Formula 1 cars more so.

      Good point Peter! I sent an e-mail to Agora yesterday suggesting they do just that. I framed my poster for the 427 Cobra SC but the fold lines are so noticeable that it really ruins the image. Let's see if they really listen to their customers!

      @@Loulovesspeed I can't even afford one of these kits. I have to live vicariously through Wayne, but you would think for the price of the kit, they could package a simple poster a lot better than they do.

    • @Loulovesspeed
      @Loulovesspeed ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2005portensie 👍 I have built several 1:8 scale model car kits previously, made by Pocher (Hornby is the holding co.) While the poster situation is a minor irritation and doesn't affect the building of the kit, the quality of Agora kits is quite good. The Pocher kits, however, have the worst instructions I have seen in the large model kits. They are poorly printed in black and white, lack detail as to how parts are connected, where wires and tubes should be positioned, and in general are just plain pathetic, especially for the high prices paid for these kits. Their newest release is a beautiful 1:8 Lotus 72 F1 kit. They had to issue 4 revisions to the instructions just as the kit was released to the public, due to numerous errors made in the initial instructions. I came very close to purchasing that kit until I read about the revised instructions being released. That did it for me and I cancelled it as I have struggled with enough poor quality Pocher instructions. I have seen many reviews where other customers complain about the same issue. That's inexcusable in that price range! The Agora instructions are color printed, provide close ups for properly attaching small, irregularly shaped parts, and many times will show the installation from a couple of different angles for more clarity.

    • @rickgregory9616
      @rickgregory9616 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good point. I thought maybe that with IXO shipping to the U.S would narrow down the price difference somewhat, but shipping is included. And, with IXO it's not a limited edition as far as I can tell. I may order from IXO and use Agora's English instructions! 😁

    A question about screws. I would imagine that say an EM screw would be the same screw across the board for a single manufacturer. Now, would an EM screw be the same between all the manufacturers so you could have an EM screw in a pill box and use it on any build where one was needed? (Like in "real world" hardware an M10 1.25 is what it is and all are the same.) I'm into issues 12&14 on the DeLorean with two problems so far. A duplicated part in issue 8 (two right handed parts instead of a right and a left, but a part I can leave off for a while). Also the bit that holds the magnet into the left rear hub was pushed free of the hub but I think I have that sorted. Thanks for making these videos to help us noobs!! The oil does make a difference BTW! I'm now a believer!

      @MasterLemonLime - Actually, they do so for the frontal hood area on the Stirling Moss edition, where the painted number badge is white and two screws go through it are also painted white. @BOBBY BATES - That is why they give you that option, if you don't feature the more time consuming, but infinitely better and more realistic looking individual spoke build. The build instructions I have seen on line from Agora and IXO are very clearly pictured for the wheel builds. Just take your time and don't try to do too much at once and you should be fine.

  • @lakrfan4980
    @lakrfan4980 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would definitely go with the easy mode on the wheel spokes. The original is much too cumbersome and difficult and really doesn't look that much better.

    • @Loulovesspeed
      @Loulovesspeed ปีที่แล้ว

      @lakrfan 49 - Just an FYI, but I have built several large scale (1:8) model cars with wire wheels like these that you build up - Pocher kits, and they are for sure intimidating at first sight. I have been a model car builder for better than 68 years and my primary goal has always been to make the finished car look as realistic as possible. I assure you that you will notice the difference in the two build methods in this kit once finished and mounted on the hubs. Real spokes of wire wheels are not bonded together as the easy build ones in this kit are. I have a discerning eye for things like this and would notice the difference right off. I realize that not everyone does though, so it comes down to the level of realism you notice and desire. I remember my first experience with a Pocher, 1:8 scale, 1935 Mercedes Benz 500K. It took a couple attempts at building the first wheel, but I managed to finish it and was very pleased with the appearance of it. That was a good thing as I had (5) more to build - it had 2 spares! The basic rules of sanity, as I refer to them, are: 1) Don't rush the work. 2) Limit the time you do work on it as frustration tends to set in when you get tired. Whatever your final choice is, the most important thing to achieve is your own level of satisfaction and pleasure in building it, as well as looking at the finished product. I hope you enjoy your build, whichever route you choose! 😉

    Had their tag in the box and everything...

      Lister the Dumb - Don't downplay assembling a model as child's play! I "just assembled" a 1:8 scale 1935 Mercedes Benz Special Roadster and it was comprised of 2,364 separate pieces, including wire wheels that were built one spoke at a time. The model had 6 of them too, as it had two spares. My guess would be that you couldn't even "assemble" the wire wheels.

    This is a disgusting example of over packaging and how this product requires yet more tooling to produce the vac form moulds just because somebody can't be bothered to actually look in a bag full of screws/ parts etc, of course this will be defended by stating that it's to facilitate ease of assembly and creating a professional look to the product, but it's nearly getting to the stage when you will soon be supplied with some poor Chinese / Asian child to come pre booked with the kit on a return ticket and build it for you then you can sit back and brag that you built this! Sorry totally unimpressed, bring back the times and aptitude when the likes of Gerald Wingrove were alive that was model MAKING not MODEL ASSEMBLY! 👎👎👎

      @Muzfuz - A "disgusting" example of over packaging you say. Who pissed in your coffee before you wrote that anger filled diatribe? Chill out man! Packaging the parts in bubble enclosures, especially the painted or delicate ones, is done to protect them during shipment and has nothing to do with ease of assembly or creating a professional look. It is actually the most common method used today and the best one yet to help protect and make parts readily visible for quick, easy identification.
      The models of Gerald Wingrove and this model have but one thing in common - they are both models! His were entirely built from scratch, something very few people who love to build (assemble) models are capable of. This is just what it claims to be, an intricate, well made, mostly metal kit that will provide many hours of enjoyable and relaxed model building. 👍👍👍
