    I have worked as a security guard checking photo IDs at the gate of a utility company. The problem is that the ID photo, or a passport photo, was not taken today. It is usually several years old. People gain or lose weight. People dye or stop dyeing their hair. Men shave their heads or stop shaving. Men grow beards or shave beards. Men go bald. If the photo looked pretty much OK, I would let them in. The only other choice would be lock out half the workers.

    She had to look different in the passport photo. She was supposed to get enhanced, like she could have used fillers to make her nose look more the same. She had to look different from her real photos and get enhanced to look like the other lady. At the airport she had to look enhanced with fillers and makeup. The trick lacks determination. She didn't try to look different.

      If you’ve had any surgery or reconstructive surgery where your appearance is considerably different from the picture inside the passport then you need new photos to renew the passport and another counter signature to confirm you are who you say you are. Minor alterations by surgery are acceptable and don’t require a renewal.

    Here in California you need what is known as a "Real ID" star on your Driver's License which requires proof of citizenship. I had a "Passport Card" used to go to Canada or Mexico. The DMV's scanner rejected it as not a valid document. Had to go home and get my regular passport which passed the scanner.
    Interestingly enough the passport card and the passport were obtained at the same time from the US Passport Office. They both had the exact same photo and info on them.
    Glad I wasn't down in TJ trying to get back using the card.

      The REAL ID star DOES NOT indicate proof of citizenship-merely compliance with the REAL ID ACT.
      Five States: MI, MN, VT, NY, and WA offer what is called an ENHANCED DRIVER’S LICENSE. This type of license is the equivalent of, and an alternative to, a US Passport Card in that it provides proof of US citizenship. Non-citizens cannot get a passport card or an enhanced license.

    The distance between the face and the camera lens is hugely important. And it wasn't even mentioned. So many photos today are selfies, which seemingly distort features because they are taken so close to the face.

Thing is my makeup made my face like a whole different shade. (Lighter, of course). So now when people see my "older" IDs they think that's not me. Go figure. It's like, It WAS too me, 20 years ago!

    Every passport should record fingerprints and they should be scanned at the border, together with facial features. This would make it basically impossible for dopplegangers to go undetected. I dont know why we still dont do it...

  • @rmipickens

    This video is obsolete. The US customs at Detroit Metro Airport was using a system where the person lined up on a specific spot and a computer took your picture. The computer measured your facial features against the computer picture they had for your US passport.

    Why don’t they use fingerprints? No one has the same fingerprint…. And a fingerprint is much easier to identify than photos. Our fingerprints don’t change. (It would also make it much easier to find criminals). Anyone wanting to travel by plane or boat etc should be required to be fingerprinted and be in the database.

    • @thundurr
      @thundurr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of airports use facial recognition which arguably is more secure, aiports like London Heathrow use very advanced face scans, immigration will also take your fingerprint if they suspect you of something

      Doesn't matter. These are so difficult to get past (I work in this area and test the technology and techniques) that it doesn't matter if you know. If you can get past the camera with makeup you stand out like dog's balls and are going to get referred for careful processing. And there's a reason passports are good ID.
      The only way to get a useful fake passport is get a legit one on a false ID. And that's outside this video.

    Thank you for bringing up this great and important issue. I’ll share the real story. Being aware of some specific procedures that are partly described in your video, several employees of the Canadian Embassy in the cooperation with the officers of Canadian Military Police using personal data of real people who lived in Canada have issued entry documents to international terrorist and his family. Guess what happened after this surfaced and got reported to Canadian Border and Canadian Immigration Office? Right, nothing. Moreover, the Associate Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Canada has ruled that the terrorist is the genuine identity owner. What’s next? People whose identities were stolen are persecuted, the terrorist lives in Canada, spends time in the US and Australia and enjoys the complete support of the system. Just to top it all, this terrorist is involved into actions that lead to death of Australian citizens among others.
