I have worked as a security guard checking photo IDs at the gate of a utility company. The problem is that the ID photo, or a passport photo, was not taken today. It is usually several years old. People gain or lose weight. People dye or stop dyeing their hair. Men shave their heads or stop shaving. Men grow beards or shave beards. Men go bald. If the photo looked pretty much OK, I would let them in. The only other choice would be lock out half the workers.
If you don’t mind me asking what is the restrictions with signatures!? I know someone who accidentally put their signature underneath the line, is this important? Is it okay or do you think they should renew the passport?
Jan Muhammad, for tourist who came to Malaysia, it's no need passport or any travel document, just do like Bangladeshes and Nepalese who came in to Malaysia through the straits of Malacca without a passport or any travel document, about one or two years time stay, you will apply and straight away can get a valid Malaysian passport free of charge.

She didn't try to look different.
If you’ve had any surgery or reconstructive surgery where your appearance is considerably different from the picture inside the passport then you need new photos to renew the passport and another counter signature to confirm you are who you say you are. Minor alterations by surgery are acceptable and don’t require a renewal.

Yeah here in India we have something sort of like that, every document that we use to apply for one is sent to the government agencies and is verified after that it gets a green check, print it out and apply
The REAL ID star DOES NOT indicate proof of citizenship-merely compliance with the REAL ID ACT. Five States: MI, MN, VT, NY, and WA offer what is called an ENHANCED DRIVER’S LICENSE. This type of license is the equivalent of, and an alternative to, a US Passport Card in that it provides proof of US citizenship. Non-citizens cannot get a passport card or an enhanced license.
