@@Furno-qe4ivthere is a noticeable lack of game outlets and review sites talking about despite regular stab on Silksongs delay. Considering how Steam and GOG delisted Red Candle studio’s previous games to appease Chinese nationalists it’s not unreasonable to think many are under reporting on it to avoid backlash.
Yeah! This game literally re-sparked my motivation to do game development! It’s not often I get so inspired I regain motivation! Nine sols is a masterpiece, And the world needs to know.
Jiequan does not have an exact reference in mythology. My guess is that he is based on both Grandmaster Tong-Tian (who apparently inspired his ancestor Jie-Tong) from the novel Fengshen Yanyi, and King Zhou, last King of Shang Dynasty. The family name "Jie" likely originates from the Jie sect of Taoism, which serve as the major antagonists of Fengshen Yanyi since they sided with the tyrannous King Zhou. King Zhou was an arrogant man that has incomparable physical strength among mortals. He refers to Ji (likely based on Ji Chang, a warlord and conselor serving him) as a "royal conselor", which somehow reflects their relationship in history. Besides, "Jiequan" also sounds like Jeet Kune from Jeet Kune Do, the martial art faction led by Bruce Lee. His red-green character design and glaive-like weapon are likely references to Guanyu, the man honored as the Martial Saint. It's interesting to think about how all these elements came down to form this fabulous bastard. No pain no gain!
I think Jiequan and his family are figures to represent the empires and emperors in history, strong yet egoist, constantly seeking and conquer for more, even after got perished and some new empire came replacing yet nothing has changed. there's never peace last longer than a hundred years in this place, which is pretty short compare to the roman empire.
My read on Jiequan and Yi’s relationship is that Jiequan thinks they’re in a love/hate relationship complete with homoerotic sword fights, and Yi the whole time is just trying to kill him. Jiequan, in his head: damn he want me fr Yi, in his head: fuckyoufuckyoufuckyoufuckyoufucky-
this is what i was thinking reading his dialogue and stuff tbh. theres some kinda tension in some of his lines and i wasnt sure if it was enemies to lovers or lovers to enemies at first, before realising theres just absolutely no reciprocation from yi and he genuinely hates jiequans guts 😭
Fun fact, the project lead said in an interview "I imagined him (Jiequan) to be some kind of weird straight man", and everyone else, including other Red Candles staff replied "I don't think anyone got the memo"

Spoiler warning! I fought him for so long in the first encounter, I thought it would be possible to do it.. I thought its part of the true ending... My save file was 25 hours-in before I started resetting the game whenever I get defeated... Then after days and days of trying... Since I played the game blind.. I decided to check forums if its really possible to. I ended up with 48 hours-in when I found out that the first encounter is bound to be a loss. I may had lost lots of hours in that stubborn maneuver, but you know what? I feel like it enhanced my experience of the game! That I may have been forcing something that can only be dealt with inaction.. that yeah.. it was my torture scene before the torture scene. But yeah, I got strong throughout that countless attempts at changing Yi's fate in that fight. The next boss fights became so fun and way more manageable for me. I was unable to get the achievement for messing up his transmutation machine because I thought I'd be a hypocrite like him if I don't beat him using the pain that I received from resets. I learned how to read the enemy moves using the sounds they make, the watch out for the animation frames... I got so much muscle memory practice from the first encounter... Gosh, I love Nine Sols so much! I hope to see more from Red Candle Games! (Besides the "cheating" with gene eradicator achievement... I also missed the mecha fight achievement, and forceful taking of data chips from a Shanhai 9000...)
Good job man, it's really nice when you play the game so much that you realise how good you became in it All my pain from Sekiro forged my skill, and helped me slide through entire Nine Sols in just 30 hours. Now I'm on second run to complete everything's i missed (like Shanhai 9000 questline)
I too was really concern about "fight dirty" achievement, but I really wanted it... So, what did do?) I just used poison and then closed the game, cus save hasn't occurred. It's that simple!

he was an asshole but holy shit was his theme a banger
This game desveles so much more recognition than its getting
Dude it hasn't even been a month since the full release, atleast wait a bit more before saying that.

Nine sols is a masterpiece,
And the world needs to know.
It will come eventually...It will be as popular as Holow Knight!
The first few times fighting him I did horribly because I was SO distracted by the banging soundtrack
I did the same thing. Also, during General Yingzhao, The Fengs, Ji, and Eigong's fights.
Lyric(?)
忍人!哈!所不忍!/ Endure what others cannot!
苦難!哈!鑄英雄!/ Hardship forges heroes!
(Agony -> Hardship)
Hardship is more accurate
@@dixcico5052 don't know Chineese, but in the context of the game, agony suits more.

Forget Eigong, this is the REAL GOAT final boss for me! Everyone after this was just dessert.
I really love it when his second phase happened... I wish there was a third phase... but yeah! gosh..

I wonder why it's so easy to ship two characters that absolutely hate each other's guts
That’s my read on them as well lmao. Jiequan thinks he’s in an enemies to lovers slow burn, and Yi genuinely wants him dead

Great theme, great fight.
Now I'm sad he was just two phases AND I can't fight him again...
I really want them to add a thing like godhome from hollwo knight. Would be so cool to do a boss rush with all these phenomenal bosses!
Mad max fury road vibes
Haven't beaten this boss yet, but despite that, he is still by far the best I've encountered so far.
Edit: I beat him. Awesome boss.
