As I am currently expecting my first child, this song reminds me of how important Clannad is to me. I watched Clannad when I was a lonely teenager, with absent parents. I recognized myself a lot in Nagisa and Tomoya and Clannad gave me the hope that someday I would have my happy ending too. Well, 10 years later I can say, yep. Things get better. I can now have the best time with my parents, husband, and soon - my baby boy (or girl). I hope you guys are ok, and wish you know that you deserve happiness.
I thought I'd post an explanation of the ending of this show so that it's a little more understandable. (For those that are curious what exactly happened) TLDR: TOMOYA DID NOT DREAM THIS! Clannad is based off of a visual novel. It’s a game where you-the player-are given the opportunity to spend time with different people (i.e. the characters in the anime). Everyone has a problem, and it’s your job to help them. The goal of the visual novel is to collect 13 light orbs. To simplify it even further, you must collect 13 light orbs in order to see the happy ending (the ending of the game). In the anime, these light orbs are seen at the ending of each arc. After Tomoya helps someone, he receives a light orb. As the mythology of Clannad goes, these orbs can grant wishes. For example, Misae uses a “light orb wish” on Katuski Shima, to love her forever. This wish is granted in the form of Misae finding and keeping a cat, which is assumed to be Shima. This is all a part of the towns folklore. The town Clannad takes place in, is basically a character itself (more on that below). This town revived Nagisa when she was on the verge of death. It’s revealed by Akio that he took Nagisa to an open field, and asked for a miracle. The town responded, and granted Nagisa’s life back. This caused her to become intertwined with the town itself. The more the town changes, the more Nagisa’s life changes, and in turn, her health declines. One of the more complex ideas posed by Clannad, is the “Illusionary World.” This is brought up by Kotomi, as her parents were studying the possibility of other worlds. In the case of Clannad, this is a world where only a girl and robot exist. At the beginning of the anime, it’s assumed that the story between these two, is meant to be the source material of the drama club play. Nagisa plays “the last girl in the world,” and she creates a robot to keep her company. Mysteriously, the only two people who have heard of this story, are Nagisa and Tomoya. This is because the Illusionary World isn’t bound by time. In fact, it’s not even a part of the world that Clannad takes place in. It’s a sort of afterlife. After Ushio dies, her “spirit” is transported to another existential plane. She loses her memory and begins life alone, in a world modeled after the one she knew as a child. In short, Nagisa and Tomoya can feel their daughter’s spirit from a distant world; and Nagisa decides to write a play about it. Ushio builds a robot because of a memory she shares with Tomoya. Tomoya bought her a toy robot, and it was very precious to her. This is why the manifestation of Tomoya in the Illusionary World, is a robot. Since Tomoya exists in the form of a robot in the Illusionary World, all of the orbs gained by the human Tomoya, are transported here for Ushio’s end goal and plan. To simplify this even more, the Illusionary World was created by Ushio. Everything that happens here is because of Ushio’s real life experiences. From the creation of the robot, to the destruction of the world. Ushio made the Illusionary World to grant her dad, a wish. Let’s also remember that Nagisa was tied to the town. Due to the fact that Ushio shares a similar illness to her mother, her existence is also tied to the town. Tomoya hates the town. This is established in the opening scene of the anime. By helping everyone around him, his world opens up, and he begins to like the town. Then tragedy strikes, and his wife and daughter die. He begins feeling like life would have been better if he didn’t speak to Nagisa on that fateful day, at the beginning of the show. The final orb obtained sets the ending into motion. Tomoya grants Ushio’s wish to “take a trip.” As she begins to die, she asks her father if they had made it to the flower field, and Tomoya tells her they did. This then results in “Illusionary World Ushio” being able to grant Tomoya a wish. More accurately, a miracle. Tomoya is faced with the same situation from the beginning of the show. It’s believed that this scene does not actually take place in a timeline, rather it is a decision Tomoya must make. What will he wish for? Will he wish to never meet and speak with Nagisa on that day? Or will he choose to accept Nagisa regardless of the hurt that may await him in the future? At first, he lets Nagisa pass him by, but then he comes to his senses, and he calls out to her. Nagisa-seemingly aware of everything that has happened-is glad that he chose to be with her. This scene is meant to be an illustration of the “idea” that Tomoya knows his heart’s desire. The moment they share (the hugging) is meant to be a realization of Tomoya’s wish. He now knows what he wants; and Ushio grants this. More accurately, THE TOWN grants Tomoya’s wish. This is why Tomoya sees orbs throughout the town on the night Ushio was born. Nagisa passed her connection to the town, to Ushio. Ushio granted her dad’s wish by collecting all the orbs in the Illusionary World. Ushio, the town, and the Illusionary World are all connected. THE SECOND TIMELINE (SECOND ENDING) Tomoya wishes for a life with his family. Ushio/The Town grant him this wish. After Tomoya and Nagisa share that moment under the sakura trees, we are shown what looks to be Tomoya crossing world lines. It is also possible that he went back in time, to the moment Ushio was born. Regardless of what actually happened, Tomoya is taken to an alternate version of the moment that ruined his life. Instead of Nagisa dying post-childbirth; she instead lives, and gives birth to a healthy girl. Tomoya’s wish comes true. We get to see events of Tomoya’s adult life, except this time, Nagisa and Ushio are with him. We also get to see what the other members of the drama club have been up to after graduating. Kyou is still a teacher. Ryou becomes a nurse. Youhei works for what looks to be a taxi company. Kotomi is continuing her parents work in America. More importantly, Nagisa and Tomoya get their moment. Tomoya is able to see his dream realized, and they live happily as a family of three. That’s basically it. Thank you, I've always accepted the story , but was confused as to how it all connected (but I never thought it was a dream). Specifically the events in the other world, with Ushio and the robot. So, really, thank you.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION: Far away, far away I hear the wind gently caress the fields I walked alone this empty road Searching for pieces off our fond memories Everything's sad Can we forget? All the moments that have led us here I still remember them And I always will In this tiny hand of yours I know there is the strength That will someday surely surpass our own After all the tears I've shed Beneath the ripe grapes I got up to carry on Even if my hand is small and we are far apart I reach out for you and we will walk this road All the precious memories will stay in our hearts If one day you choose to go Cold wind still wraps around me As the seasons come and go Softly, singing me to sleep With song of that spring I've heard so long ago In this tiny hand of yours I know there is the strength That will someday surely surpass our own In the tears that you have shed I see reflections of the sweetest smile I've ever known Even if my hand is small and we are far apart I reach out to you and we will walk this road All the precious memories will stay in our hearts As the new day arrives We both know the time has come for us to say goodbye As this tiny of hand of yours passes us by Everything will change as this New season finally comes, but always know I was grateful
Holy crap these lyrics are great! They sync well with the melody too, which is really hard to do with japanese to english translations simply due to the romanji having more syllables overall.
@@thedivineshinsoo9771 In exchange they're not exactly accurate. Guess it depends on what you want from a translation. These definitely have taken a lot of creative liberties to fit the melody.
Seeing all those people commenting about how they watched Clannad for the first time as teenagers and now they have happy family makes me want to believe that one day I can be one of them.
I resonate with this so much. It has been 8 years since I watched this masterpiece, and 1.5 years since I had my heart shattered to pieces by someone I loved, and seeing all these comments - I really hope that one day I too can come back and leave a comment like that.
I absolutely adore coming back to this video every now and then to see all the people congregated, talking about how Clannad affected their lives in one way or another. I just recently re-read it for the first time in nearly 5 years, and every single emotion I felt back when I read it in high school in 2019 came rushing back to me like no time had passed at all. I genuinely have Clannad to thank for repairing my relationship with my parents, things had gotten a bit rocky over the years and Clannad put a lot of things in perspective for me. Nowadays it gives me the strength to continue moving forward, despite often times feeling depressed and like there's no point, I can always look back on Nagisa's journey and realize that I have to keep moving forward. Standing still in place is simply not acceptable. It makes me immeasurably happy that Clannad has had similar impacts on so many people, and seeing everyone talking about their experiences in this comment section specifically fills my heart with so much love.
@@geofreak12345 That's incredibly disrespectful. People whom got hurt/died in that accident worked hard on those projects and did their best to bring us content. If you watch an anime just for the animations and art and not it's actual plot you're not a true fan. If someone were to burn your house down with all your belongings, then say "I'm glad it got burned down" what would you feel?
I marathoned Clannad after all the episodes were released and needless to say...this series and story changed my life forever. Never felt so happy and heartbroken in a series ever...even many years later I still cannot bring myself to rewatch this series just because of the intense emotions it instills in me. Truly a masterpiece and probably the best written anime, ever.
+Påñtšü Mäśtęr (Gød õf Påñtśù) As I watched clannad in 2014 and experienced cliff hanger after cliff hanger and I had the privilege of going to the next episode I always thought wow what of the people who were watching while it was airing I feel so bad
Message from 2022: Many of us grown up with this anime, we been in similar shoes and now we face the world as adults, some of us have already got a family of their own while others maybe still chasing glory. I hope that all of you overcome your hardships and find your loved ones and attain happiness and never give up finding it even in the harshest of times, we all are there for you facing similar things. Have a great day!
First time I watched this anime half a year ago, I couldn't live without thinking about this anime. Clannad swallowed my life up, it was always on my mind and I wanted more. I was in that period called "The Void" (it speaks for itself) and after a month or something, I recovered. This is my eighth time watching and still, I can't fight back the tears.
Several years later and I'm back here again. I absolutely adore how the Dango Daikazoku song essentially became the main anthem of this series and is utilized here so well. Love it.
They only made it the Dango Daikazoku song in the anime, in the original VN it's just Nagisa's theme. Even the part where Nagisa sings the Dango song to Ushio sounds way different in the VN. But this song is from the VN so it has nothing to do with the anime's ED. It's just Nagisa's theme with vocals.
I rewatched it many times, but under one condition. *I MUST WATCH IT UNDER ONE SITTING* If not, it's gonna keep bugging me because it's feel like I leave them in bad conditions and I keep thinking about about it like depressed kid. No jokes, one times I try to not to watch it in one sitting, and I freaking depressed for fictional character. I can't sleep in night and keep thinking about this fictional character fate, until I decided to watch it entirely. And by properly watch it in one go, I know it's ended in happy ending and it's safe my soul.
This show is a life changing experience.. After finishing this unparalleled masterpiece of a show I became a completely different person.. My parents and siblings think something is wrong with me considering I was always rude to everyone..but after this.. I'm a whole new person. As cliche as it sounds... this is still life changing
you’re absolutely right. it probably is cliche that people say it’s life-changing... but it’s true anyway, we can’t help it. the anime has completely changed my views on family. after watching, i suddenly realized how beautiful it must be to have kids. and i’d find myself pondering about what job i’d have in the future, and how much time i’d have for my kids if i took that path. but it also makes me sad since i don’t want to grow up and leave my father. my childhood. i love all types of family with all my heart.
I came back here after 8 years, currently 26 ye old still alone with no family on my own no one to talk to no friends whatsoever, i'm very sad and lonely, even though am a man i won't hold my feelings. I'm not able to rewatch clannad after story again, because every time i press the button my whole face is in tears. 😢 Have a nice day all of you!! 15.11.23
If you truly want it, and as long as you don't EVER give up life will get better. But change doesn't come by itself. Get out of your comfort zone. Take a bath and make yourself look nice. Go outside. Join a club or find people with similar hobbies. Smile at people. Then someday you'll find your happy ending too. Don't wait. Do it now.
Clannad= one of the most unforgettable stories I've experienced; it is an experience full of laughs, imagination, and emotions. It's got a lot of heart and soul in it-- especially with its reoccurring theme about family. It's something that I'd recommend even to none-Anime/Manga fans-- I'd recommend it even to those who are becoming parents/building a family of their own. I feel that it has a lot of good things that a person learn from, and connect with in real life. One of KEY's best work, in my opinion.
I was just reading comments, minding my own business, then suddenly at about 2:00 I burst into tears. There's definitely good reason that this is my favourite anime in the whole world.
Anyone else wish they could forget Clannad only to fall in love with the story all over again? It's probably the most beautiful and inspirational anime I've ever watched.
The "Dango Daikazoku" theme is actually Nagisa's motif, which plays whenever Nagisa is on screen in the original Visual Novel. This song was in the original VN, but the Dango Daikazoku song was made specifically for the anime.
Yes, Angel Beats and Anohana are sad and worth watching. But Clannad is different level. Honestly, if I would have to recommend one anime to anyone, it would be Clannad. It just inspires me so much on how much life is worth living. There will never be another anime like Clannad.

Clannad is so much bigger than the sum of its parts. I wish more people would watch Clannad in its entirety because I honestly believe it is a Masterpiece. Clannad saved my life during a very dark time and gave me hope and appreciation for all that life has to offer every one of us. I am thankful every single day for this beautiful anime.
People who said You lie in April, A silent voice, Plastic memory are some of the saddest anime definitely haven't watched Clannad. Yeah those anime are heartbreaking in their own way but Caannad destroys your entire soul and makes you question about life
Im driving down the beach looking at stars upon stars listening to this song. Good Lord how times passes... such bliss I'm in awe of all creation right now.
I think this might be my favourite youtube comment ever. Just really encapsulates the way this song makes me feel and how my mindset has changed since Clannad became a part of my life.
So. I know this is late but what clannad has done for me is unspeakable. I lost my dad 5 years ago as a 15 year old and I just sealed my emotions off, didn't shed tears, hated hearing stories of my dad and so on... Started watching animes when i was 16, after many animes, i watched clannad... The scene where Ushio said "The only place i can cry is in the bathroom or my dad's hands" i felt tears in my eyes.. As she started crying. I could honestly see my dad in front of me stretch out his arms and he said "CRY". I dropped my phone and wept for 10 minutes straight. All the sadness, pain, and hurt just flowed out... Till date. I still answer people that call me weird cause I'm an Otaku that "Anime saved my life" because "Clannad saved my life". I'd have turned to an unfeeling, emotionally scarred person if not for this anime
people say anime is for children. that it's just cartoons and you need to grow up. but it's not. anime can be the most beautiful and tranquil thing you ever experience. it can change you, lift you and inspire you to do better. I experience constant depression and after watching clannad 10+ times I learned to smile more, speak more (even though social anxiety is a bitch and a half) and be more honest with myself. Anime is gorgeous and will FOREVER be with me and FOREVER keep me going.
I agree. I didn't watch Clannad until after I became a father, and I can completely relate to how Okazaki was feeling when he went on that trip with Ushio. At 43 it still makes me cry.
This anime absolutely will change your life. I mean I don't exaggerate when i say this but if your that type of person that gets wrapped up in stories this anime can alter ur outlook on life T.T its soo beautiful.
Samuel Sargunam That, and it also teaches a lot of valuable lessons, here's one that I found, and liked. Never stop finding meaning in life. The moment you do your life itself might as well be over. :') Oh, and, there's always meaning in life, you just have to find it.
dude im 30 yo and i love this anime i got a child too, and hel jesus i watched this with my wife. everytime she hears this song she starts to tear up and tell me that she hates me xD
Why can't any other anime get close to Clannad's greatness? They don't even try. Starting a family: No anime i know of. Confessing: Surprisingly rare. Even more rare is conflict after the confession. Death in Slice of Life: Kanon, otherwise no. Lack of extreme fanservice: This is rare, and that's stupid. No one in Clannad's got boobs bouncing all the time, or panties showing by "accident" once a minute. Parenting: No. Most romance i've watched is about a guy blind to romance, but not to lust, who is loved by every girl he knows.
There are plenty of factors aside from the 5 you listed that can make an anime worthwhile. Regardless of one's opinion on Clannad it is definitely not some unapproachable paragon of quality for the medium.
Might i suggest anohana or angel beats if you want something just as moving as Clannad? They are not similar to Clannad at all but i found both of them just as good although to be honest, i found anohana slow in it's build up
Don´t be like that man :-) you know it isn´t true....ok you don´t but you will after reading my comment. Toradora, one of the best romance animes. I don´t know why but Btooom! romance was very interesting (girl is nearly raped in the second episode and bears emotional scars troughout the series) Hate incoming for this but....SAO. Yes, while main protagonist is a harem king, his feelings are for one and only (and actually it is the main reason why I liked second part of first season) I am not saying those are comparable to Clannad, however, I just don´t think a true romance can´t be found in animes.
The only other animes like this are the ones by Key the same producers / creators. The one about starting a family you have Mischievous Kiss but for some people the art style may be too "outdated"
My first anime. My favourite anime. KyoAni is still in operation and Clannad's legacy still lives on very significantly. That said, Happy 15th anniversary since the finale. Interestingly, Ushio Okazaki would be 18 years old now.
Just over 3 years ago I started this anime. It changed me. Sounds pathetic and cliche but it genuinely did. It made me want a family and to have a child, it made me have goals for the future. Damn man, this anime means so fucking much to me. Before I watched it I saw children as a sort of burden and wasn't bothered about having one. After watching this and seeing Ushio my views on a family did a complete U-turn.
I agree. I cannot have children and am not healthy enough to care for any but it definitely made me realize how important family is. Family is precious. In the future if it is possible, I'd love to adopt.
"Sanae-san said, that the only places where i can cry are the bathroom... and daddy's arms" AT THAT PRECISE MOMENT you could see it in his face, the last barrier in Tomoya's heart being completely destroyed by his daughter's words.
@@xdz96 clannad is top 1 in my opinion but you should try Toradora, k-on, little busters, angel beats all of them I felt similar to clannad lots of laughs at first then get sadder toward the end also the genre for clannad is called nakige maybe you can find visual novels of same kind
This anime show literally change my view points on life. At first, I was like family? friends? Who needs that, I'm fine by myself. But maybe it's good to have friends. Those who you can depend on and those who depend on you. Those who make you strong, pick you up when you're down and give you purpose in life. Thank you Clannad for all of the joy, wisdom and tears you have given me even although you are just a simple cartoon show. Well I guess not that simple, but something more, magical. :)
Evie Addy No. Cartoon are crappier and more specific head shapes, signature to each series. Anime has it's own style, while cartoons are just out there with the animation.
Cartoons are not crap. They are part of many peoples childhood. there is no difference they both show different levels of emotion depending on the stories they tell. There was no need to even comment or get offended in the first place.
As an emotional Anime Clannad is top (for me), but Anohana was pretty close to it though. In the Romance department so far no Anime has been as good as Golden Time for me です.
It is beoynd impressive to create a work of fiction that resonates to people's hearts all over the world, especially to this extent. Clannad, one of the most touching and beautiful stories ever told. This anime was a life changer for so many, including myself.
This song and this photo..it makes me bawl but in a grateful way. Ushio tucked in Nagisas arms..I can feel the love and protection through the screen. :,)
This anime provided me with great catharsis during my time of the worst suffering and loneliness I have endured. It showed me the great wealth and profundity in human value and experience, and having the impact on me that it did I will surely carry the experience of those tears with me always as I go on to live a greater quality of life myself and try to realise what incredible wealth and profundity this anime tried to convey. A truly heartwarming song.
Never underestimate the importance of family, to be responsible for someone else, whether a spouse or child, brings your life immeasurable meaning. I will always love Clannad for illustrating this message in such a beautiful, impactful way.
3:53 am. I wanted to jump.. but then i listened to this and dango dango.... i punched myself as hard as i could and decided to cry it out, rather than make someone else cry over my selfish action.... Stay strong everyone, no matter how much pain life throws at you.. remember that there is always someone out there who loves you and will miss you.. stay strong, and if life keeps throwing bad things at you, get back on your feet and punch life itself in the throat.
I really recommand the anime movie "colorful"it's really good and has a powerful messege about suicidal thoughts . PS: stay strong no matter what you're important in life and you have a role in it don't leave your place empty because no one can replace you :)
I noticed that most people write in the commentsection that Clannad was so sad that it made them cry( myself included) but i dont think that most people get the whole massage, let me explain( and no, will not go in too deep in to the symbolism and plottwists) The world in Clannad is full of sadness and lonlyness, but there are always people that you can relly on and together we can create our own happniess and hope, because everyone has the right to be happy and aswell spread your happniess to the people that you hold dear. We are all a big family, a dango daikazoku, and in the end nobody has any superpowers or magical abilitys, but sometimes a miracle happends between people but this would not be called miracle it is just people that love one another. This anime made me laugh, think, reflect, cry of sadness but aswell for the pure beauty and love thats showed. I Still only my humble opinion.
the song started playing (the part after the light piano in the beginning) when I got around "the world in Clannad is full of sadness and loneliness" and I just started crying. that was a beautiful message that goes perfectly with the song.
clannad is a masterpiece on so many levels. It has so many characteristics that no other show or anime will be able to create. This anime is about loving your family and making and losing friends along the way. Clannad truly changed my life in so many ways. Emotional and self-confidence. I tear up every time I hear the soundtrack. There will never ever be an anime like clannad. Thank you Visual Arts and Key for blessing us with this. I wish the best for all of you out there. God bless us, Ushio, Tomoyo, Nagisa, Fuko, Kyou, Ryou, Akio, Kotomi, Tomoyo Sakigami, and Sanae. This anime is honestly the most emotional show that feels similar to Up's opening but on a much better, powerful, and developed level. The show has made me cry a lot, and I'm 21 for crying out loud. It's all thanks to Nagisa, Tomoya, and Ushio as such incredible characters and the events and conflicts they face.
Clannad: After Story. Wow. A truly haunting, touching, and vivid portrayal of the hardships of life. Love, joy, sadness, and courage were experienced by the characters AND the viewers. Yes, it required courage on behalf of the viewers to continue to endure after witnessing some of the most heart-wrenching scenes you will ever see. This anime was and always will be an inspirational piece of art.

This song reminds me of my late bird, Mini. He died suddenly of a brain stroke at the age of 6. He was a cockatiel who grew up in our family when my mental health was at its lowest. He was a charming bird, and when I first got him, he was just a couple of days old, without visible eyes or feathers. He resembled a super tiny chicken, but I hand-fed him and raised him like a baby. He grew into a healthy bird who didn't need a cage or leash to roam outside. He would sing and explore my house freely, never leaving my side. He knew many songs and enjoyed playing games like hide and seek with me. He always wanted to share whatever food I was eating. He truly was my best friend, a companion who supported me through my darkest times. Thanks to him, my negative thoughts and feelings of helplessness vanished. However, last year, he fell ill suddenly. Despite taking him to the best vet available, and providing him with the finest treatment, he succumbed after a 42-hour battle with death. This song reminds me of his tiny claw, the delicate footsteps that sounded like taps on the floor, and the small talon he used to hold treats and vegetables. It's a tribute to my beloved friend, and I hope to reunite with him after I cross the rainbow bridge. Until then, I'm forever grateful to him for helping me when I needed it the most.
Also to mention I've seen many films and shows. Some have made me shed a few tears (2-5 tops) for a while. But none has ever reached to my heart as deeply as Clannad, where I bawled to the point I had to pause to try to stop crying. One of the greatest thing I've ever seen. Too worthy to be watched again immediately.
I watched Clannad for the first time when I was 9, at the time I didn’t really get the full meaning from it. But watching it again 7 years later made me bawl my eyes out
You know, The "True ending" is actually quite sad when you think about it, The tomoya that was in the alternate timeline of perhaps even the real timeline lost almost everything he had, His whole life has been disaster after disaster, we never see what happens after the kid dies. Maybe he committed suicide, maybe he went insane, it makes you think why the other version of himself deserves the good life while the other just rots away.
*SPOILERS BITCH DONT READ IF U HAVEN FINISHED* I think that he might have died in the snow with ushio. I say this because after he dies they play the scene in which he is the little robot and the girl is ushio they both disappear together.
When they die Tomoya is transported to the "other world" where all the lights are, a light is created when a happy moment is experienced, an older version of Ushio guards these lights but allows Tomoya to take the one he created when he took Ushio to meet his father (He forgave his father) which became a light. The light can make a wish come true and Tomoya wished for a second chance where neither Nagisa nor Ushio dies. Which means it ends with a happy ending :)
Deniziozioz Acording to Schrodingers cat, Even if he made a "wish" there would still be another timeline with that same outcome. Idk if i should debate if clannad has any scientific backround X)
my view on it is that because hes the only one that remembers what happened is that he went from the 1st world to the new one, so hes not there any more. have to make it happy in my mind
This song hit me so hard when I realized all this time I was dealing with grief over loss of my loved ones, was the reason of my depression. I did not remember all the wonderful times I had with them, instead all I focused on was a loss. It was preventing me from moving on and living my life, instead I was trapped. It helped me let go and move on, at least a tiny bit.
This is just one of those shows where you wish you could rewatch for the first time. I first watched it 10 years ago and I rewatch it every few years just to remember how much love there is to give and receive
almost any anime can kill off characters and it makes the others sad but what makes clannad so good to me is how well they portray the real emotional effects of losing a loved one. it doesnt just make the other characters sad... it makes you sad as well
As I am currently expecting my first child, this song reminds me of how important Clannad is to me.
I wish you the best of luck :)
Was it a boy or a girl😳
Are you still happy, even today ?
Cheers to that
Abe G it’s a girl!
Was a lonely guy when Clannad first released. Now I'm a father of three. Still going back to this song every now and then.
So happy for you
Congrats 👏
Congrats
GG bang. Happy for you lah.
sick bro :)
I thought I'd post an explanation of the ending of this show so that it's a little more understandable. (For those that are curious what exactly happened)
TLDR: TOMOYA DID NOT DREAM THIS!
THE SECOND TIMELINE (SECOND ENDING)
Tomoya wishes for a life with his family.

Best explanation ever heard bro. I am glad that they 3 of them were together at the end tomoya deserves this...
Thanks for explanation
You really covered it well. Exactly as how I would explain it 💕
And you didn't miss the fact that Ushio helped her dad in the alt. World.
Really amazing explanation.
Thank you, I've always accepted the story , but was confused as to how it all connected (but I never thought it was a dream). Specifically the events in the other world, with Ushio and the robot. So, really, thank you.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
Far away, far away
I hear the wind gently caress the fields
I walked alone this empty road
Searching for pieces off our fond memories
Everything's sad
Can we forget?
All the moments that have led us here
I still remember them
And I always will
In this tiny hand of yours
I know there is the strength
That will someday surely surpass our own
After all the tears I've shed
Beneath the ripe grapes
I got up to carry on
Even if my hand is small and we are far apart
I reach out for you and we will walk this road
All the precious memories will stay in our hearts
If one day you choose to go
Cold wind still wraps around me
As the seasons come and go
Softly, singing me to sleep
With song of that spring I've heard so long ago
In this tiny hand of yours
I know there is the strength
That will someday surely surpass our own
In the tears that you have shed
I see reflections of the sweetest smile
I've ever known
Even if my hand is small and we are far apart
I reach out to you and we will walk this road
All the precious memories will stay in our hearts
As the new day arrives
We both know the time has come for us to say goodbye
As this tiny of hand of yours passes us by
Everything will change as this
New season finally comes, but always know
I was grateful

Holy crap these lyrics are great! They sync well with the melody too, which is really hard to do with japanese to english translations simply due to the romanji having more syllables overall.
@@thedivineshinsoo9771 In exchange they're not exactly accurate. Guess it depends on what you want from a translation.
These definitely have taken a lot of creative liberties to fit the melody.

RIP Kyoto Animation, thank for Clannad, you will never be forgotten

First time I watched this anime half a year ago, I couldn't live without thinking about this anime. Clannad swallowed my life up, it was always on my mind and I wanted more.
I also always return after some years, can't explain why. I've rewatched the series 3 times

This show is a life changing experience.. After finishing this unparalleled masterpiece of a show I became a completely different person.. My parents and siblings think something is wrong with me considering I was always rude to everyone..but after this.. I'm a whole new person.
As cliche as it sounds... this is still life changing
Facts bro, teaches you so many life lessons, it hits different
I am an anti-natalist and I wanna have kids after watching this.
you’re absolutely right. it probably is cliche that people say it’s life-changing... but it’s true anyway, we can’t help it. the anime has completely changed my views on family. after watching, i suddenly realized how beautiful it must be to have kids. and i’d find myself pondering about what job i’d have in the future, and how much time i’d have for my kids if i took that path. but it also makes me sad since i don’t want to grow up and leave my father. my childhood. i love all types of family with all my heart.
Amazing
It becomes cliche because of a reason... a solid reason at that
I came back here after 8 years, currently 26 ye old still alone with no family on my own no one to talk to no friends whatsoever, i'm very sad and lonely, even though am a man i won't hold my feelings. I'm not able to rewatch clannad after story again, because every time i press the button my whole face is in tears. 😢 Have a nice day all of you!! 15.11.23
I hope you're doing okay. Life gets better. ❤
I'm 26 too. I live alone and sometimes I think would die alone too in this apartment like my father

The feels
Totally agree 🥹
Give it time, you can re-experience it upon a rewatch after a good while. It's not impactful, but damn does it still hit the emotions pretty hard.
Anyone else like the little dango diakazoku instrumental in the beginning?
me
just like the last episode where nagisa and tomoya sang dango daikazoku :)
I love it
The "Dango Daikazoku" theme is actually Nagisa's motif, which plays whenever Nagisa is on screen in the original Visual Novel. This song was in the original VN, but the Dango Daikazoku song was made specifically for the anime.
@@dokichokei And as far as I know, Nagisas soundtrack is based on this song
Yes, Angel Beats and Anohana are sad and worth watching. But Clannad is different level.

The best part is Clannad actually fix your soul after, you know, complete obliteration.
And not only that... clannad has changed peoples lives and made people better
clannad is literally the best anime
mee too clannad is so much meaning for good second will be angel beats
@@mannikaru579 yeah angel beats is really good, i'd agree with putting it as a nice second
What a beautiful comment ;*)
Eyes on the road man
😃 venture forward my friend...
Bruh your comment with this song in the bg got me crying so hard.
This anime has changed my life
Hey, friend.
I hope things are going well for you now :)
@@jackmorrow-zhang9106 Yeah, they are. Thanks for asking
I relate so much with you, I was pretty much the same. Only difference was that I was 14 when I lost my dad.
Thank you Kyoto Animations. Hope you're doing well wherever you are!

people say anime is for children. that it's just cartoons and you need to grow up. but it's not. anime can be the most beautiful and tranquil thing you ever experience. it can change you, lift you and inspire you to do better. I experience constant depression and after watching clannad 10+ times I learned to smile more, speak more (even though social anxiety is a bitch and a half) and be more honest with myself. Anime is gorgeous and will FOREVER be with me and FOREVER keep me going.
true, anime is a expireance
Actually this anime should be shown in prisons, because it's a cure for everyone.
SW Lithuania wow... great idea!!
I agree. I didn't watch Clannad until after I became a father, and I can completely relate to how Okazaki was feeling when he went on that trip with Ushio. At 43 it still makes me cry.
It's an insult to all who took it seriously too. Cartoons? The hell they are!
This anime absolutely will change your life. I mean I don't exaggerate when i say this but if your that type of person that gets wrapped up in stories this anime can alter ur outlook on life T.T its soo beautiful.
so true this anime made me take on a different look on life
it really makes you appreciate what you have when you have it

Samuel Sargunam That, and it also teaches a lot of valuable lessons, here's one that I found, and liked. Never stop finding meaning in life. The moment you do your life itself might as well be over. :') Oh, and, there's always meaning in life, you just have to find it.

It's my favorite part too. It makes me think of a happily ever after and also spring after a long winter
Couldn't have said it any better my good man.
I don´t know why but Btooom! romance was very interesting (girl is nearly raped in the second episode and bears emotional scars troughout the series)
Hate incoming for this but....SAO. Yes, while main protagonist is a harem king, his feelings are for one and only (and actually it is the main reason why I liked second part of first season)
I am not saying those are comparable to Clannad, however, I just don´t think a true romance can´t be found in animes.
+squidlybop463 pls dont remind me of ushio, I always tear up at just the thought :
+squidlybop463
Well, thats same of me.
+squidlybop463 thats exactly me lol
I agree. I cannot have children and am not healthy enough to care for any but it definitely made me realize how important family is. Family is precious. In the future if it is possible, I'd love to adopt.
I thought the same way before. Now all I want is a family.
"Sanae-san said, that the only places where i can cry are the bathroom... and daddy's arms"
AT THAT PRECISE MOMENT you could see it in his face, the last barrier in Tomoya's heart being completely destroyed by his daughter's words.
Destroyed? No. Patched, repaired, restored. His heart was already destroyed. Ushio brought him back from the brink.
this ep got me so hard i cried like 2 hours than i watched the rest im scared to rewatch it BUT I WANT TO
it's a bit rare these days to see such anime like this. Otaku veteran like us will always remember those great days

*anime. NOT CARTOON.
ANIME! >=U It's anime! Not a cartoon!
ignore them cartoons and anime are the same thing its moving drawings on a screen. and it got to me too.
I'm not tearing up, my eyes are just sweating real hard...

Still only my humble opinion.
I never get the massage...:(

Far, far away, there's a swaying sea of rice grains
Raise the sails, raise the sails, and go to the memories that we aimed for
Do we still remember all of the sad things up to today, or have we forgotten them?
Even in our small hands, since when has there been a strength that's overtaking us?
We walked from the days when we cried beneath the ripe grapes
Even if our hands are little, even if we're separated, we'll go down this road
On the day to come sometime, we'll treasure our greatest memories
The seasons change and the cold wind
Has already been wrapped by and sleeping in the song of that spring
Even in our small hands, since when has there been a strength that's overtaking us?
How many smiles reflected on our wet cheeks?
Even if our hands are little, even if we're separated, we'll go down this road
And on the day that came, we treasured our memories, too
Even if our hands are small, they've been overtaking us since some other day
The day that finally came opened a new season

I am so happy with Clannad After Story ending, Tomoya deserves to be happy with his family.
No.6 I see u are a man of culture as well
Also to mention I've seen many films and shows. Some have made me shed a few tears (2-5 tops) for a while. But none has ever reached to my heart as deeply as Clannad, where I bawled to the point I had to pause to try to stop crying.
One of the greatest thing I've ever seen. Too worthy to be watched again immediately.
Every time I listen to this song, I remember the 22 year-old me bawling like a baby in public 12 years ago.
I watched Clannad for the first time when I was 9, at the time I didn’t really get the full meaning from it. But watching it again 7 years later made me bawl my eyes out
*sniff!* uh...damn onion ninjas! they still exist to this day! and they hide in my small apartment. I can NEVER find those darn ninjas!!
Rest in peace, those who have passed today in the loss of KyoAni Studio.
0:27-0:35 is what chokes me up the most. Sounds like unimaginable sadness, but also happiness, and a bit of nostalgia.
TheStardust6000 Well i mean, other than hypothermia(which is Highly unlikely) He had no reason to die there.
My boy is almost a year old now and I’ll make sure he can always cry in Daddy’s arms.
It's already 11 years ago, but this song still lives in my heart
You too, right?
It's scary the range and depth of emotions that Clannad can both elicit and portray.
This is just one of those shows where you wish you could rewatch for the first time. I first watched it 10 years ago and I rewatch it every few years just to remember how much love there is to give and receive
almost any anime can kill off characters and it makes the others sad but what makes clannad so good to me is how well they portray the real emotional effects of losing a loved one. it doesnt just make the other characters sad... it makes you sad as well
Clannad allowed us to connect to every character. I think that is what made it so emotional.
Blind Babbler pretty much every decent anime lets you connect to their characters
Ziggerath i just felt clannad gave them more depth than the average anime
"almost any anime can kill off characters and it makes the others sad" . Are you talking about Akame Ga Kill sir? ;-;
