I am going to ask my engineer if we can move the HUD graphics for the next race. I haven't put any thought into their positioning until recently. Priority was on driving as fast as possible 😂 So it will be fixed in the future. Thanks for watching!

This is really awesome. I dont really watch real racing, but I enjoy watching people play racing sims for the commentary from there pov. You actually doing commentary for real racing is pretty new and interesting that I think a lot of racing fans and gamers can both enjoy. I wonder why I havnt seen other pro racers do something like this before regularly. Maybe because of the extra work? But I cant imagine building a brand around your name being a bad thing in the long run for a professional.

Excellent content pure drivers education thank you for this masterpiece of instruction. I was blessed with the chance to meet team Bently at the golf course at Laguna seca as well as other team drivers, I went to the pro shop and got them all hats with the courses logo which has two cross flags in a victory circle and Jordan Peppers , Jules Gounon, Steven Kane promised me a hat in return. There team had a bad weekend at the california 8 hours and I talked to Steven Kane and told him that there team would sort the car out and they would win at a track suited for there car. They won Paul Ricard with amazing pace in there car and I am a proud owner of a blue Bently hat with carbon fiber brim. They were very nice to me and I am very grateful to have had a chance to meet such outstanding individuals.

These on boards are pretty awesome. That moment there must have been scary. Recently in ACC someone tapped me from behind at the start of a simrace and it must have damaged the machine (diffuser) and when I went through there I got a similar kind of experience out of nowhere, but I went into the wall. It is very interesting to see that IRL you have a chance, because in a sim you do not. You will crash because you don't have all the feeling that IRL driver has to quickly get on top of the situation.
So I was wondering how dangerous that must be IRL because that right turn in the left right left is extremely dangerous when the car has some kind of undetectable handling issue. It's like eau rouge amplifies any problem you might have (that is completely undetectable in the rest of the race track).
Turns out you can recover in real life if you have the skill, but it still looks mighty dangerous and completely on the edge. You guys are pretty crazy.

    • @DavidPerel
      @DavidPerel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Through Eau Rouge the car compresses and then lifts, so it amplifies any problems you have with the car. That's what makes the corner very difficult in real life.

Great video as usual, pity about the tyre issues, instances like this one can ruin the race not just for the drivers and teams, but also the event organisers, sponsers and fans as well.
I'd love it if they had different tyre models in GTS, but the days of anything regarding strategy be it tyres, fuel, whatever seem to be gone for the moment.
Being a motorcycle rider, I'm intensely aware the effect different rubber can have and how it really is the most important part of any vehicle.
Looking forward to the next video. Going to go practice now for round 2 of the manufacturer series and try and keep my to spot as the no1 Mitsubishi driver in Oceania.
That idea you mentioned sounds good atm, being only a B/S driver and 71st overall...I think some coaching could help. Time consuming though. After trying different gr4 cars I've found my Lancer has a near 1 second handicap on average at the Kyoto yamagiwa track... so I'm practising a lot more than usual, really trying to find every advantage & weakness I've got and where and not simply lap times so I can be ready come race time.
Just preparing for this game is hard enough, I'm really coming to realise how much mental fortitude you must have at your level of racing. Pace is one thing, but I'm finding preparing myself mentally is actually my biggest battle.
It's why I love your channel. Your insights, be it in sim or real racing are incredibly helpful.

    • @DavidPerel

    Great video, as always!
Your channel is growing fast recently, and deservedly so!
This is a dream for any hobby racer.
    Again a few questions:
How hard is it to control slip - angle once you are over the limit? I've briefly driven a 458 Challenge car a few years back (pretty hard pirelli rubber), and it was very forgiving when going over the limit of the rears.
Is the puncture due to a weak sidewall/too much flex, or due to excessive tread wear?
Have you tired ACC yet? If so, what's your take on it?
    Best Regards, keep pushing!

    • @DavidPerel
      @DavidPerel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hey man, GT3 cars are "OK" to control when you go over the slip angle but there is a limit. The more experience you have with the car the better you can anticipate it.
Hankook haven't given anyone a reason for the failures on the Spa weekend... normal.
I love ACC but don't have a PC at home so I cannot play it as often as I want to.

Man this is some awesome content
I really like how the actual drive is explaining the whole situation on board
This really gives the opportunity to us mostly only sim racing experience people know what is going on in real life
    Thanks again
This is my first time watching on board footage for 20minutes without getting bored

Keep up the good videos and the mindset points of view. Sure is an odd channel but still very enjoyable

It depends on the race, after my puncture I avoided all the curbs as we thought that was the problem... but the punctures still came. However usually we ride those curbs for 24 Hours.

Upshifting at only about 7.5KRPM? I was under the impression that Ferrari 488 engines made a lot more turns than that. Keeping it down (shortshifting) for hours-long endurance races? Something about the series' balance of performance rules? What gives?
Very nice vid. Interesting to get the actual driver's perspective. Some of the better live broadcast racing commentary does this to a degree, but it's usually speculative. Nice to hear *"THIS* is what was happening, *THIS* is what I was thinking, *THIS* is how it felt to drive the car in these circumstances" from the actual man in the driver's seat at the time.

Great stuff, David! I really appreciate your commentary - too bad you had that puncture, though.
Regarding IP rights: I remember a Blancpain competitor of yours (Nicki Thiim) had got permission by the proper rights owners to show his stint online - nonetheless he was flagged for IP violations and received a temporary TH-cam ban. I can't remember if it was a one month or a three months ban. Absolutely crazy situation.
    Good luck!

RE mic: I actually like it!! The first video I ever watched of yours I thought you were commentating from within the car for a fee second. Your mic lacks bass/mid-bass and treble, which is a characteristic of in-car mics.
But hey, if you’d like to change by all means 🙂

Be careful with uploading Blancpain content, David - TH-cam suspended Nicki Thiim even though he had full permission and support from Blancpain and left the suspension in place even after proof was provided.

As someone who loves racing in Sims, its fanatastic to see a real drivers point of view, tips and thought process. It's also great sometimes to see how closely games like iRacing (and even Project Cars 2) emulate these amazing cars. Thank goodness we don't have to deal with punctures! If possible it would be great if the telemetry was bottom right and not in the windscreen view. Please keep up the good work!
