    Shohei Ohtani's already rewriting the record books, but can we really call him the GOAT without a 20-year legacy of dominance? 🤔 Sure, he’s incredible now, but to truly be the greatest, doesn’t he need to pull off these insane feats season after season? I’m talking two decades of jaw-dropping performances! What do you think? Is Ohtani already at the top, or does he have a long way to go?

    • @BentleyVB
      @BentleyVB หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Well In the few years Ohtani has played , hasn’t he proved he is the best player to play the game ? When it’s all said and done with a few chips . For sure Shohei Ohtani will be the GOAT.

      @@OlJackBurtonI should have added a post script "after he retires"
      However, you're dead wrong about him doing it again. I don't think the conditions will ever be correct for him to repeat a season like this. This is one year where he's in his physical prime, and only focusing on one thing. He might get 50 home runs when he starts pitching again, but he's not going to be stealing 50 bases. I don't think his coaches are going to let him.
      Also, when he finally is forced to give hitting or pitching up, even though he's going to pick hitting in his old age, he's not going to have the speed in his legs anymore at that point to steal that many bases.

    Shohei Ohtani should of have 4 MVP in 4 consecutive seasons. 3 with the Angels and 1 with the Dodgers as a DH cause Aaron Judge took that AL 2022 season MVP with his 63 home run record that year.
    This season with the Dodgers, he could've gotten to 60/60 easily with 6 games left in the regular season against his division rivals Padres and Rockies. Just 6 hr and 1 sb left, instead he slow down after making MLB history with 50/50 already. He's gotten himself into the post-season, plus being the 1st NL DH MVP guaranteed. Now, he's playing in the MLB WS2024 against his formidable foe, the Yankees especially Judge and Soto.

      @craigwheeler4760 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Ted Williams may be supplanted by shohei ohtani yet. Give otani another five or six years of pitching, and it's going to be a real hard argument against him.
      Shohei ohtani has to hit off a number of different pitchers throwing 100 mi an hour. And otani is also facing the best in the world, not just the best white guys. For approximately half of Ted Williams career, the league wasn't exactly integrated. Only a handful of guys were across before the mid-50s.
      Think about how few times that shohei has to face a pitcher for the third time in a game. Ted Williams faced the same guy up to four times in a game.

    A CONCEPT - even one that has tangible existence, such as a baseball player's season - cannot be "iconic."
    Only IMAGERY is iconic - i.e., a person or thing whose Image is famous, usu. with the implication that it has become emblematic. (The word Icon, in orginal Greek, MEANS Image.)
    In addition to being the most overused word on TH-cam, Iconic is also, by far, the most MISused - misusers seeming to believe it means simply "widely known," "instantly recognizable," "memorable," etc., without specific and sole reference to imagery. Increasingly, too, it is being employed, mistakenly, as a simple synonym of "very famous."
    This case of misuse has spiraled due to the TH-cam Feedback Loop - wherein video-makers parrot and propagate each other's speech errors.
    A troubling consequence of such wide misuse is that dictionaries - as a matter of long-held policy (now in need of revision in this age of the viral Internet, for obvious reasons) - will update definitions to reflect vernacular usage, setting up a slippery slope towards our language's ultimate debasement.

    • @foulball
      @foulball  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Wow, you really went full-on linguist mode there! Next thing you know, we'll be debating if "iconic" should come with a warning label like “may cause confusion and overly dramatic TH-cam videos.” 😂

    Ohtani also has fans here in Korea. We have a dark tragic history of experiencing slavery, forced labor, Unit 731 by Japanese colonialists in WW2, which the Japanese denies and has never apologized to this day. But I am glad we can be united in sports.

C’est une propagande coréenne malveillante. Keep to baseball.
      And when going political, keep with the facts.
      Korea experienced annexation, but there was no slavery. It rather ended the long lasting slavery-like oppression by the Chosen Dynasty. The Unit 731 is historically still a myth with no definite evidence, and even if it were true, they aren't even allegedly held to have operated in any vicinity of Korea. The Japanese government has officially acknowledged the sufferings during the annexation and has made continuous compensations. They have also officially apologized more than seven times, something no other colonial powerhouse has probably ever done.
