It's incredible how they really, truly, put Junji Ito's Manga to life with this adaptation.
I read Uzumaki manga around 20 years ago. I can't believe this has been made into anime, and it is amazing!!

The girl storyline comes up later in the manga, they're combining separate chapters into one episode, this episode contains the dad storyline, the girl and also the start of the mom and the slowpoke storylines.

Yeah they go full on gas and throttle the hell out of it. It will be nonstop 4 episodes and I cant wait for the next one!
@@daenopher To be fair the faster pace may help Kyrie feel less dumb, in the manga it really gets to the point that you really wonder why she doesn't take Shuichi up on his offer and leave the town for good with him and her family, she keeps witnessing horrifying events and just sort of forgetting them for months until the exits finally close off for good and only then she tries to escape.
@@Alex-m1p9z Now that you mention it, it does make Kirie looked like a naive person rather than dumb thanks to the pacing of this anime. Also, it doesn't effect the world building pacing and the story overall. Everyone who never read the manga even knows what they're into watching this.
The "manga coming to life" aspect of this really appeals to me. It also dredges up memories of Ray Bradbury's "The Illustrated Man" in the terms of how -movie- moving tattoos told the stories.
This has been such a treat. I think the standard for anime adaptions will increase.

The only criticism is that it feels very rushed for someone that read the original material, it's very fast paced since it's just 4 episodes to adapt a 3 volume manga.
The animation and tone and imagery and everything else is so good, I'm expecting a lot of cut content and missing scenes tho.

@@Sienrel I think they're adapting the entire manga, but blending the chapters together for pacing. The middle part drags so having everything happen all at once adds to the frantic nature
@FateTearsStudios so far there has already been cuts made to the first episode, it's a lot shorter than the manga, the episodes are only 22 minutes long
Yeah they'll probably mix and merge the various storylines. My guess is that we'll get slug, lighthouse, mother, hair, and then we'll move to the hurricanes and final part of the spiraling
