Last year, after winning the Carabao Cup final, we saw Erik ten Hag in deep conversation with upstart Kobbie Mainoo. He said the words “your day will come, and we’re going to win trophies together.” This year it was Toby Collyer, after the FA Cup final. Ten Hag was pictured in similar fashion to last year, could history repeat itself with yet another midfielder breaking into Erik ten Hag’s starting 11?

Toby is a DM more like carrick who reads the game rather than someone like casemiro who is a destroyer. His secret strength is his 2 footed passing and being really secure in the first phase...he can save us the money we would spend on amrabat because amrabat is really good in possession but is slow out of it. Toby can cover that amrabat role

Carrick was world class. To think that abuse he used to suffer😂. Was a class act Don’t play 10 plus years in Uniteds’ engine room alongside Scholesy if you’re shit. Just glad most came to love him by the last few seasons. It was mainly the idiots who slagged him off 👍🏼 I’d be chuffed if Collyer turned out anywhere as good or similar player like Carrick

  • @harveysmith100
    @harveysmith100 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +48

I have been watching Kobbie in a match, focusing just on him.
He makes it all look so simple but if you watch him, he constantly moves to find space to receive the ball so when he gets it, he appears to have all the time in the world. No, he created that time.
If he gets marked he constantly scans to see where they are, he has a plan if he receives the ball to wrong foot them.
He has clearly be drilled so well.

Seeing how he ghosted into space, head on a swivel , knowing the space he was in , first touch and one and two touch passing , slowing down and stepping up the tempo of the game. Shea Lacey - 175cm, Tobey Collyer - 175cm, Dan Gore 175cm. Are these kids not getting good nutrient or something? So many short players coming out the academy. Mainoo and Garnacho are also around the same height.

Is Lacey like 16, and collyer like 17?
They still have 4-7 years more in which they can grow.
Plus genetics play a role. They are all around the world average for men’s height and will probably grow taller

@pjo1974 exactly I need him to have that chance in pre season at least
He has very good understanding of the game
He's probably even the best free kick taker at the club
His shooting is top level as well and he can use both feet
I don't see why he shouldn't be around the team this year especially as we have sancho, greenwood and pellistri leaving

He is more box to box and might need a loan spell to learn positioning and improve scanning, if he is to be played as a sole DM.
Colyer is more developed in this regard and comes with the added bonus of being able to dictate the game and two-footed passing.

Midfielder injuries and casemiro going CB resulted in mainoo getting in full time. 20 and he's never played even one senior competitive match? That's really bad mis-management. Why hasn't he been out on loan at all over the past two years? Players dont develop playing in the u18's and u21's non competitive matches. Imagine how much more prepared he would be if he had spent the whole of last season on loan in the Championship or SPL playing in proper matches that matter with intensity and promotion/relegation/euro qualifying on the line.

Watxhed him a handful of times for the 21s, didnt stand out imo. Can see him getting minutes on tour then maybe going on loan. Dont see hin at United unfortunately but you never know how players can develop on loan.
Ibragimov saw his cameo v Brigthon 21s was on for 20mins and looked class
Amass too but needs to develop physically, summer on the Bovril
