Thank you Julie! I love Rita's books too, this past year I have coloured her pages the most - I wouldn't worry too much about colour combinations in her books, they're quite whimsical so you could do anything really 🥰

Oh my gosh - I love everything you’ve coloured! I don’t believe everything needs a background. It’s very popular on social media to do backgrounds, but sometimes the central colouring is the most important. Love what you’ve done!
Thank you so much! Yes, I do like a white background on my pages, and only add a background if I think the page needs one, and also, they take a while if I do them in pencil, so that's another factor when adding one.

This is my new favorite video because I also love Rita's books. I love how all of your pictures look similar and have a theme. You could put them together as a collection and they would all go well together. That's something I'm lacking with mine. I do a bright and colorful page, then a neutral page, then a pastel page lol they are all so different.

I really love the colors you use in your books..I have an Ivy and the inky butterfly book that I want the colors to be cohesive somewhat and give the pages an aged look.. somehow you made your colors just all work together..just beautiful

Would like to share that i like using a Q-tip and pastel chalk to do my backgrounds it helps get in and around small spaces... I can also color over it with a darker color pencil adding more shading...
Thanks for the tip - I used to use chalk pastel a lot in my pages for backgrounds with pencil over the top, and still do, but I tend to just use pencil in Rita's book because they are smaller and the backgrounds don't take as long with pencils :)
Love your style…new sub I’ve just finished the Land book…nearly done the mixed seasons and just started the Euro one…I gave the water one away…I set myself a challenge and used mainly Crayola in the land book…and some mixed media in the end…very enjoyable to watch ty…🥰🥰

Your not alone😉 I cut out pages the same way you do... We both know we wish it would have worked out because we liked the page and will miss it... But it has to go when it's not up to speck...🧐
Yes, exactly! I think the same thing, I just hate working in a book when I know there's a page that I think could have gone better! Cutting the page, if done properly, does rectify the book for me :)
I have cut, or double sticked pages together that I flubed up or just didn’t like. Ie spiders or snakes. In mouse guard I painted and collaged over snakes> it’s too expensive to replace books. Plus, you learn from things gone wrong or different solutions you try to repair what you don’t like. I find it a challenge. ❤
That's very sensible and they're great ideas! I try to salvage pages where I can, but unfortunately sometimes it just goes wrong and there's no way of saving it!

Hi Imogen, all your older pages are so incredibly beautiful and my favorite has to be your Valentine page, it’s absolutely gorgeous! You mentioned Holbiens in Rita’s books, did you enjoy how they felt on her pages? I remove pages very often myself and it doesn’t bother me. Your wreath pages, with Easter eggs in the middle and your roses and butterflies, are just gorgeous! As are the rest of your pages in this video! I need to get my autumn book to see if the paper is different from her other books. Imogen I’m really sorry for rambling, I am trying to get better about that. Thank you for sharing!🥰

I do like Holbeins in her books, don't tend to use them much know but I remember really liking them, even if they are a bit softer to work with than my Black Widows - yeah, I think I'll just be braver taking pages out if I don't like them anymore, it will make it feel like a brand new book! Yes, I'm not sure why the paper is different for mine, it must be the printing batch, but it seems like thicker paper which is good, I hope my pencils work well on them - don't worry about rambling, I just have too! 😅

There’s a brave young lady, removing pages she doesn’t like anymore😅 it will definitely make it feel like a brand new book! I forgot to check the paper in my book, wouldn’t it be lovely if my book has thicker paper too lol. Hi, I just wanted to say that I love your work, and I also have a question. Recently I heard you say that you use zest it in your old derwent blender pen. How did you go about that? I have been dipping the nib of my old blender pen in to zest it for a long time now and have thought about transferring the zest it but can't seem to open the pen up.
Hi Caroline, thank you so much! I'm planning on doing a video soon, I've had quite a few requests to show, it's a really simple process. You have to yank the tip out essentially and put droplets of the zest it in! Hopefully it will be up soon x
