    The Rolex coronet is also different between the two, the left has more squared off sections to the base and the arc is even in its graduation, on the right dial the three middle sections are the same height and the outer left and right sides, the same height as one another. The x height on the type on the right dial is lower, serifs more pronounced and more closely tracked. Although the Rolex 'E' crossbar appears to be missing apart of its serif. The 'S' in particular has an almost leaning forward quality to it and is must less balanced than the rest of the type. Thicker printing overall on the right too, on the main type and the Daytona type.

    Very interesting topic, Jasper. And I really enjoy the b roll and the location of this video.
    But the echo did this location creates some distracting audio artifacting. Perhaps if you’d worn a lav microphone this would have been ameliorated.

    I see that you mention the "unicorn" 6265, what do you think of the discovery that perezcope made about it, and what do you think of the tricks that auction houses do to make more "unique", common watches?

    • @jasperkov
      @jasperkov  ปีที่แล้ว

      Again, as I explained earlier on it is rather irrelevant to this video. However, it isnt necessarily “a discovery” since the restoration of this project was disclosed prior to the sale. I would like to leave the execution of restoration and the approach by the auction house in the build-up to the sale out of the equation and like to emphasize that it was all about the whitegold case, which is the unique aspect of the unicorn, and is original.

    Haven't you heard about that white gold Daytona? Its a complete Franken watch, you should check Perez Cope

    • @jasperkov
      @jasperkov  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The point I made was that the case in WG was a special order and not a prototype. I dont feel the need to clarify the configuration because in this context it is irrelevant: but yes, the bracelet was added and so was the dial changed; which was disclosed prior to its sale. Thanks for sharing and watching the vid

    The Daytona is mid. In the watch world, the Daytona is a glass of sparkling water, a loud sneeze, leftover pizza. It might be your favorite watch ever, but there’s not a single element of the watch that sticks out in a market saturated with unique, functional designs. Besides, I don’t want to get my hand cut off by someone looking to steal my glass of sparkling water. You could get something superior by every metric except brand cache that’s akin to a glass of fine eastern whiskey, and no thief would look twice.

    • @jasperkov
      @jasperkov  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      But you are a special snowflake 🤗 It is undeniable the Daytona is of incredibly historical importance. And that is what this video is about, not about aesthetics or whatever other irrelevant points like watch theft. I, for a fact, only like to wear 4-digit Daytona’s but still I can very much appreciate and understand this transitional marvel. These prototypes are not watches people buy because they fall in love with the design but because they have a deeper understanding of its background. Thanks for watching and the comment

    • @PocketUau
      @PocketUau ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasperkov thanks for taking the time to reply. Yeah, to be fair my opinion may seem unpopular, but in 2023 I get the idea most casual collectors have no interest in Rolex, while hype buyers and "investors" are buying them all up over retail.
      I like the Daytona, but I like it about as much as taking a daily shower. It's nothing special, the model just exists to be overshadowed by the competition and overhyped by those who drive the market in their monetary favor.
      The 4 digit Daytona ain't bad though, dad sold his a few years back for a pretty penny and I remember really digging the way it looked on his hairy wrist.

    • @jasperkov
      @jasperkov  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PocketUau well, I’m all up in the collectors market and I can tell you, there isnt a single Watchcollector in the world that doesnt at least appreciate Rolex. Collecting watches started with Rolex and it is still there right at the top and always will be and rightly so, whether you like it or not.
      Now it is true the spectrum broadened, which too is a great thing. But “investors and hype buyers” are more over modern watches across the board. So in my experience you so make some fair points but it is precipitate and faulty.
