Sample Lecture Series: Symmetries and Groups with Ryan Hamilton

In this short sample lecture, we will introduce the basic notion of a symmetry. A symmetry is a way of rearranging a set of points that carries some geometric meaning. Rearranging the labelling of the vertices on a polygon is an example of a symmetry. We will then connect this idea to the notion of an algebraic group, which is a structure ubiquitous in mathematics and nature.
