The animations are so underrated in this game. When I first installed it, i would just spend time getting in and out of a jeep in 3rd person. I still love it.

@ I’d say it’s been in the game since start of the year maybe? So the commander can get really low down looks almost exactly the same as Brad Pitts stance in fury when he and the other Sherman’s are attacking the tree line. Really low profile but still improved visibility over being button up!
scroll wheel stance adjustment could help with hatch peeking, being very fast coming down.. a feature I have been waiting for from arma 3 is left shouldering and further stance with ctrl d ctrl a. the head height scroll wheel could assist with getting the viewports more functional, having two states of turned in where there is a clipping/over viewport limit and turned out where you can lean up as far. I liked RO2 where you could click snap to each port, while some were on scrollwheel. a feature that doesn't matter so much to me was being able to use your arms in arma 3 on some vehicles, while sitting out with a .308 laserbeam lmg.. but we really do need that as well.
Well the good news is the arsenal has certain weapons and items rank locked, meaning the rpg will not be as accessible as it is now (atleast in the early stages of the match).

Looks like they trying to go for realistic sounds, including realistic (or better word authentic) dynamic range between quiet sound (steps) and loud (gunshot, explosion) but they made echo/tails are too loud. I remember the sound of 14mm gun when you sitting inside btr-80, you don hear any echo/tail.
Idk how warping inside the vehicle is still a thing…. Frustrates the hell out of me knowing that I remember picking dudes off climbing inside the hatch of a tank in COD3 for PS3…. But new AAA games, or AA games like Squad and HLL, still only do warping. It’s been like 20 years since COD3 lol
I really wish the Russian would actually get some decent armor. You can kill a whole ass btr with a m60.. same with the brdm too im sure . I know we're getting rockets for helicopters but the russians are seriously outmatched with this going to the Americans. I really think we should get T72's and Abrams man..
The dust kick up from the detonation of the HE round is more realistic than not. If they can get a vacuum effect on the smoke (all converges to the epicentre of the blast). That would be epic. games are not dusty enough
I don't think the commander has his own independent periscope in the lav25 like you would have with other vehicles like the BDRM-2. . If you at the sights they look like an identical copy if what the gunner has, coupled with the same hand controller. Externally the optical port on the commander's side is fixed to the turret, just like gunners. I think the commander simply has the options to take control away from the gunner to control gunner sights if needed. I would expect this to implemented similarly to how pilot/copilot can lock or handoff controls to each other in helicopter, but would instead be applied to the rotation of the turret and use of owns one gunnery optics.

I think so too. The gear selection appears to favor soviets getting equipment that is 20 years older. I think there are some historical biases, and perhaps also the devs having easy access to a real BTR-70 from somewhere to model it and record the audio. That may explain the presence of a BTR-70, and not a BTR-80. Someone else also told me that most of the advanced soviet weapons on vehicles at this time were tracked vehicles and refrogger has no tracked vehicles. A BMP-1 would be a very powerful vehicle in the current game setting.
The choice of the LAV-25 is strange as well. The US faction is listed as the US army and this is reinforced with the selection of the UH-1H to be their helicopter (as opposed to the UH-1N for the Marines). The Army did borrow a handful of LAVs during Desert Storm and were the largest client for the vehicle during its development before pulling out of the program, but generally the LAV-25 is a Marine Corps vehicle. The only explanation is that the only alternative would be the tracked M2/3 Bradley and for some reason bohemia doesnt want to model tracked vehicles for Reforger.
I saw on experimental last night a rifle grenade going through it on the side. Not sure if it was a soviet rifle grenade or an american HEDP because the shooter was on the soviet side, however he may have looted an american grenade launcher m203
Can you use your rifle from some turned out positions like in arma 3? that was a great feature now and then. It was nice to turn out for extra visibility when you were in an area where you weren't risking sniper fire, which is accurate.
@ yeah I hope so. It was also spotty with some vehicles having it and others not depending on mods. It was nice because you could use the optic on your rifle to spot a target for the unmagnified 50cal
I like to think of the LAV-25 as an M2/M3 Bradley made for US Marines. It's light, amphibious, but still packs enough firepower for those jarheads to take out just about anything short of a Main Battle Tank. The 25mm Bushmaster cannon is the very same as the Bradley's. Not much armor however, so it's relatively balanced.
I know the US Army used LAV-25s in the late-80s (the 82nd Airborne still uses some today) but I really wish we got the Bradley for the Americans instead.
Hello! I have one comment, the question is not really related to this post. I'm curious why the SVD only has the option of a PSO 1 riflescope with 4x magnification. As far as I've researched on the net, there are other riflescopes for the SVD with higher magnification, but I don't know if they were used during the USSR or later. If we compare them with the M21 and the 3-9x riflescope, the Soviet side is very underpowered. Do you perhaps know something more about riflescopes for the SVD during the USSR? Thanks
The only soviet era SVD scope i can find that isn't either a PSO, A copy of a PSO, or a night vision scope (as night vision hasn't been implemented) is the 1P21, a weird 3-9x scope only adopted at some point in 1989 (the same year the game is set, so it's possible it hadn't been adopted by whatever month the game is in and wouldn'tve been widely fielded). It adjusted zero alongside the magnification, so increasing the magnification also adjusted the elevation. It's in the RHS mod though.
Only the PSO-1 and 1PN58 (night scope) was used during the soviet era. Technically the 1P29 and PGO-7 should also fit on the SVD (and PSO should fit on AK-74N/RPK-74N) but they would be rather useless as they aren’t calibrated for that caliber of weapon
Tanks have tracks. Tracked vehicles have their own physics and mechanics they have to implement. The tanks available in 1989 also have things like advanced composite armor, explosive reactive armor kits, thermal and night vision optics, gun/turret stabilization systems, human loader positions for Western tanks and auto loaders for eastern bloc tanks and so on. They aren't a trivial addition and the LAV doesn't progress much us towards tanks mechanics wise.
Tank and vic crews never fully expose themselves lol, they only ever have their heads out for better view while driving. Its not done in combat for obvious reasons, and i'd imagine the same effect of being killed will apply in AR.
Maybe not today, but in 1989 it was still common practice for vehicle commanders to risk their heads to achieve better situational awarness. The commander's hatch of the M1 Abrams even accommodates for this by having a position that is open just enough for the TC to pop his head up but still have the hatch hovering over him. What Bohemia needs to do here is make it so that the commander and gunner can duck a little so that they aren't quite so exposed.
Its still definitely done today, it's very situational, if your commanders optic is out how are you gonna see far away, the issue tank crews binos, TCs will still poke her head out for a better view if necessary@@majorborngusfluunduch8694

I think the devs focused on the BTR-70 because they had access to a real one to record the audio from. It would be great if they had a more modern BTR but I think these are harder to get where the developer has their offices.
Lol you cant peak out anymore caus you have to hold the streering controls. Also people peak out their head when driving, i did it all the time in Arma 3 when driving in safe areas or RTB from a mission.

The gun won't actually fire if the hatch is open. There is a inhibitor switch.

In squad 44 there’s 2 positions of looking out the hatch. There’s fully standing and hunched which makes you a far more difficult target to hit.
Did they add that recently? I have not played post scriptum for a long time since after they added more detailed tank crew gameplay.

@@Benjamin-578 Definitely an improvement then, but I'd say Caracal's suggestion of making it incremental for fine adjustments would be best.

Oh btw, the dust radius is not "Completely exaggerated" it's toned down... you should watch some videos of the real one firing. It's a monster.

I'm unsure how viable any ground vehicle will be in a game where arming every troop with AT weapons is trivial

They made weight more impactful on movement, so not everyone should be running around with RPGs

Lav25 can be penetrated by some 7,62 rounds, 338, 308 and ofcourse all bigged calibers. That was not implemented.

Currently not, however arma3 had this feature so I think refrogger will have it too.
