Diet makes a huge difference and lifestyle ! Diet has been studied a lot especially in Functional Medicine that studies the body as a whole system . They get to the root cause of the disease ! And there is evidence of people over coming there autoimmune disease with natural treatments. Other doctors need to be more open to this!

I was in a research study for the IVIG treatments at NIH ( Dr Dalakas ) in the early 1990 s . I luckily got the IVIG . not the placebo . I had such a rapid good recovery of many symptoms that I highly recommend it as a first treatment . In my case all the other drugs did not help and I had side effects that were allergy related and other things . so I havee been getting my IVIG since 1993 . It to me is the only thing that alleviates the symptoms

In November 2018, I started seeing some strange rashes on my hands, face, elbows, chest and my upper arms, and then soon after that it spread to my torso, and also I started becoming extremely fatigued and I couldn't even lift my arms to wash my hair. I went to see the walk-in clinic doctors a couple of times but eventually I had a blood test done and found out in December, 2018 that I had an autoimmune disorder. Very soon after that I found out I wouldn't be able to see a rheumatologist until March 4th, 2019, which seemed like an eternity. At this point I assumed I had lupus. I was so stressed out wondering what the heck I was supposed to do, so I started researching online and I came across Dr. Brooke Goldner and her book Goodbye Lupus. I bought that book and her other book which are the recipes of different smoothies. I also bought a good reconditioned Vitamix blender, all the greens, flax seed and fruits and vegetables I needed and I started doing the smoothies right away! On March 4th, 2019 I finally received my diagnosis of Dermatomyositis, but by then I was already going strong with my smoothies. I have much more energy and I'm on very little medication now, it's only been 3 months since my diagnosis. My rashes have disappeared and my neuropathy is nearly gone, plus at my last appointment my rheumatologist told me I could start reducing my Methylprednisolone! I'm telling you all this because I want everybody to know that if you reduce or even completely replace the inflammatory foods in your diet with anti-inflammatory foods like these smoothies, you will feel so much better. This is true for everyone, not just people with an autoimmune disorder. This is all about healing the gut, and that's what the smoothies do. This isn't Hocus Pocus - it really works! You can find Dr. Goldner online and then you can also join her Facebook support group. They're an amazing group of people that have been incredibly helpful and supportive to everyone that needs assistance including me, and also success stories are posted frequently. I hope this post was helpful. Best wishes to you all. ♥️

i was taking the green alfalfa drinks at the time that I got Dermatomyositis . I was also taking other herbs including high doses of B complex , and I was using pure licorice root in the form of daily tea . I also had my tonsils and adenoids taken out just weeks before , (with antibiotic and steroid nose spray) This then is when I had rapid and severe symptoms beginning with a rash on hands . Then weakness in hands and next the neck and shoulder girdle , then severe swallowing issues , with inability to eat and drink without it going up my nose or down my throat . reflux . and severe itching with more rashes on neck , face and above knees ,, back . Hair began falling out , very painful lesions on the cuticles of my nails . skin so painful similar to a bad sunburn . and the scalp was very painful inflammation . The itching was extreme . And drove me nuts .

We are so sorry to hear of your struggles. Do you, or your doctors, think the herbals were the cause or initiated your disease?

I would like to know what you think about someone having all the skin findings of DM and a positive EMG for non irritable myopathy but all bloodwork normal CK and others and normal muscle biopsy! Note muscle biopsy was done without MRI ! Does that not fit under Hypermyopathic Dermatomyositis? Or the One you mentioned about Clinical Amyopathic DM which I don’t know too much about!
