  • Surrey Street Market - the place for cheap flowers, fruit and vegetables - and all paid for in the newly-launched decimal currency.
    Surrey Street was also the place to see some of the styles and habits of the ordinary people of early 70s Croydon.
    Since I first posted this, I've learned that Surrey Street Market is the oldest street market in Britain, with a charter going back to the year 1276.
