    It’s great to see the RM buses in action, I was a bus driver for 3 years from early 85-88. My first garage was Merton, then Streatham & Brixton 49, 155, 77, then 159 & 137. Some of the routes are now cut in half or don’t exist anymore. I love the old Croydon high street with Alders, C&A & Grants and would travel to Croydon on the 64 from Mitcham. I still visit Croydon to shop, but it’s skeleton of its form self. I often visit Brooklands Museum, which has a wonderful Bus Museum and well worth a visit. I am still driving around London & the Southeast in a different but interesting Job. Thank you for posting this great video 😊

    • @IndigoJo
      @IndigoJo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was 1986 and the beginnings of pedestrianisation were there. If you look at the sections where the camera is pointing down the High St towards the junction with Katharine St (where NatWest is) you will see the signs marking the end of pedestrianisation. It was buses only down North End to begin with on weekdays IIRC, so it wasn't total from the beginning. It was a few years later that the drivers decided of their own accord to use Wellesley Road instead of North End and the change became permanent.
