I don't want to age myself, but I lived out of my Dodge Maxi Van in the early 1980's in northern California. I was a river guide driving from one river gig to another for about 4 years.

great advice.If I traveled to Canada I for sure have a great way to make money.Lots of planner and journal ladies that love American paper products.So, the product without the crazy postage. My plan is a Tiny House in my daughter's backyard,since she wants me to continue living with them. I have to have my own space,but be near my grandson. that's were I am struggling right now at a low wage guard job that I hate and I am trying to get my lawn care business up on its feet I know brother I been living like this 5 years trying to pay bills and stay positive no matter what I stay close to god as much as possible

You are so honest and upfront. I can take a lesson from you. To be more open. I love yor videos I had been binge watching but i slowed down because i didnt want to run out.
Another tip I have found which will be of use to you as it grows colder is to wipe down the inside of your windows with dollar store shaving creme. That will prevent condensation from forming on your windows on cold nights. That condensation is a big sign to police that someone is sleeping in the van. Might save you a knock or two.

Good video man. I have always dreamed about making the vanlife jump (I already own an 84 Westy). But figuring out the income is the issue. My hobby is photography so that I where I would like to make the money. This year I am going to try to do weekend vanlife and get my photos selling.

I have most of my bills paid off....but I was suppose to retire next month....but the down sizing isn't easy.....I will be doing real estate investing as I travel....I can do it virtually ...I was worried about the extra income and how to have the money as I travel...I use to be a local real estate investor ...I use to be a local real estate investor....but now I will be a virtual real estate investor...... My son is a DJ too and also a barber.... I have been trying to get him to live a nomadic lifestyle.

Hi new subbie here. Enjoying your videos a lot. I have been toying with the idea of van life for a while & think you have a nice set up for yourself. But as much as I want the freedom to roam, I lose that feeling when I see videos like this. Let me explain. My rent in CT is 750 because I was smart about choosing where I live. It is a small 600 sq foot guest house instead of a beautiful apt in a high rise building with stainless steel appliances because I did not want all my money going towards rent. So your van payment of 300 plus your gas cost of 400 and your gym membership equal my rent. Now you might have to pay for health insurance (I think-not sure how Canada does it), car insurance, not to mention a payment for a car in storage of $460!!!! And to that your beer habit which you could save by buying a six pack and drinking in your parked van instead of a pub would save you even more money. You mentioned another 18K of debt and all I can surmise is that you are not very good with money. I was not either until I found out how to handle it better. May I suggest you watch some videos by Dave Ramsey about getting out of debt, not being a slave to car pmts any more and other ways to live debt free? This is not a judgement at all, just advice. I broke the debt habit years ago so I could break free of the 9-5 job as well, and it is only because I worked hard to get out of debt and stopped living paycheck to paycheck. You are a very smart guy and you could do the same thing, too. At least start by selling the car and paying it off to get that loan off your back. You have the van now and the pmt is cheaper and it is easier to haul your DJ equipment in, so no matter what you do not need the car anymore. The same intensity you are using to plan your gigs is the same intensity you have to plan your attack on debt or it will never go away. Stop using your credit cards and try a cash only system. Debt drains your soul so if you feel this great now without that rent payment looming over you, just think of how you will feel when you do not have ANY debt!!! Best of luck to you, I will continue to watch because I am enjoying your adventures and that beautiful snuggly dog of yours!!!! Take care and be safe.

What a lot of people don't realize is that when you own your own business you have a lot of other expenses that go along with it AND you're the business. If you aren't working your ass off to get clients, your business isn't doing shit. Does no good to own a business that makes $0 :) Just a quick recommendation - Dave Ramsey's 9 steps to financial independence. He gives some great tips about getting out of debt, saving money, and building retirement.

VANCITY VANLIFE credit for me ain't been no crystal stair either 😊 I was thinking about selling my vehicle for the price of the loan that I have left or like you were doing paid down. But I agree that getting a van might be a better option even if I have two payments it's still less than what I'm paying for rent. I know for sure that won't happen until next year. I go live in my SUV at the end of this year December 31. So I will revisit that option at the beginning of next year.
