strange, haven't heard so many of those songs, the list is no real top ten in the later years. i have 6 kids between the age of 25 to 13 and even they dont know most of the songs. especially those where they sing songs mixed in turkish/german.
Watch Deichkind Rock am Ring
4:52 Maxime "Soldaten" blew me away for a year or two. Its a great song about being defeated and getting back up again.
"Au revoir...is that Spanish?"
No, but are you secretly American?

No French! Au revoir- Good by

If you say "Au revoir!" in Spain, the people will understand it - because they probably know basic FRENCH! 😂
The Song is litterly Germany whit a tiny on French
yeah its just the title ,the rest is german
I really dont know how you mess these up xD
The funniest part about that song is the lyrics going "Auf wiedersehen? No way! Au revoir!" Even though both of these mean the same thing.

I’m a German born in 2000, and I usually only listen to music from the ’80s and ’90s. However, this video triggered so much nostalgia that I’ll definitely check out the music from the early 2010s again. Thank you so much for that! I have to admit, the music from that era is at least partly more timeless than I originally thought.
12:16 yep, after 2016 it goes downwards. That autotune rap music is the worst.
100% agree. The forced deep voices that you can barely understand, the heavy autotune and the songs just pretty much all sound the same
100% !!!!!!!! Autotune Arab-Rap...

When I learned anything from this video, it's that I stopped being exposed to mainstream music in 2015. I knew every song till then and like 3 or 4 after that.
Same.
Rap is just not my prefered music genre. Cro being one of the few exceptions with his raop (Rap/Pop) so he sang more Pop-Songs. I would even prefer more Punk-Songs over Rap-Songs.
@@annelisewegner1411 Calling that same tone mumbling rap is an insult to proper rap. It's SO bad
Same for me and I know why that's the case: I moved out from my parents that year and haven't listened to radio since.

Rap is something like Kool Savas, Sido etc.

Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
I am honestly sick and tired of the rap taking everything over. its mass-media at this point and everything monotonous, partly really questionable texts and autotune in so many of them. As a german the "charts" are just exhausting or boring.
Theres a reason I only look at the Album Charts. Havent Looks at the single Charts in ages
Just a bad music taste. The rap is way batter than those schlager pop songs
@@fuballistmeinleben7335just accept that many people think it's crap

Jaa, das ist leider ab 2016 komplett den Bach runter gegangen.
As a german: Music around here was better 10-15 Years ago. Today i would give everything to have back the 2000's and early 2010's
Well, tbh I would give everything to roll back by 20 years right now. Like everything in Germany.
Not just the music. We kinda lost the passion for nearly everything.
Not just Germany. Most of it is god awful. Even here in the United States.

If you're wondering why so much German rap suddenly dominated the charts, it's because these rankings are based on the "German Top 100 Charts", which only tracked retail sales & excluded downloads or streaming.
Around 2015/2016, music streaming & downloads became the dominant formats.
However, German rap (which still has a strong community to this day) continued to sell retail CDs in significant numbers.
As a result, from around 2015/2016 onward, these charts primarily featured German rap due to its consistent CD sales.
The German Rappers do indeed still sell physical Albums. Most of them are sold in form of Boxes. I rarely see this in France, England, Canada or the USA. The Germans love their physical copies.
Im not sure who started it...was it Kollegah & Farid Bang or was it Aggro Berlin already?
Aggro Berlin sold a lot retail CDs at the time but i think they split up before Downloads really took Off.@@germaniatv1870
That's not the reason. German rap was by far the most streamed music in Germany in the late 2010s.
@@sgn9744 Thats actually true. Many US-Rappers came to Germany as well, soaking up whjats happning. It was a huge wave and probably did influence some americans 🙂True.
The downfall of german music after 2016 is horrible to watch! That fake gangster pseudo rap is just awful my god. There were only like 2 or 3 listenable songs there
I mean...there is still good german music, you just wont find many of them in the charts
and the youngsters don`t stop this shit ... all rap music are equal .. olders can´t figure out is this the same song or another
None of this is Gangsta Rap. It’s Trap, Dance-Hall, Drill or Pop-Rap. When you look out for good Old School, Gangsta or political rap, it’s still niche. But as a old school rap fan, the only thing I can say is, the best times are over. 😅
Wanted to write the same. It got downhill fast. 🤮
Mehnersmoos came to bring the glory back.
Hearing Strobopop again after all these years activated some part of my brain like a sleeper agent, lmao. Dancing to it in a club was amazing, every single person there would start jumping and yelling once the beat dropped. Good times!
„I don’t know you guys have head of Pitbull“
Well, in Germany we do fascinatingly not live under a rock and have heard of the phenomenon of Mr Worldwide 😂
The panda mask (cro) is still my favourite german artist. Its so nostalgic seeing him in almost every 2010-2016 chart. Its sad that he doesnt get the same recognition as he did...
Yeahhh I was on his Tour last month. His songs are still my number 1
tim bendzko was singing "nur noch kurz die welt retten" (translated to, saving the world quickly)
years later his new hit song "ich bin doch keine maschiene" (translted to, im not a machine)
this triggerd a lot of burn out jokes
lol
Greetings from Germany. No idea how this list ended up being created, but people here prefer to listen to older songs rather than this rap. People here tend to listen to the radio, and you'll never find rap there.
jop
Not people below 20 🥲
I think those are the most streamed songs
Listening to radio is the worst way to listen to music in Germany! First of all, they don’t play the full songs and moderate over the end all the time, while they talk the same shit every half an hour ALL DAY LONG. You have to be literally completely Taste blind to prefer radio over any other medium.
@@DoomOfConviction depends on the region. In NRW WDR 4 rules
Most of the songs you can only feel and understand in full time not in short cuts...
da hast du komplett recht (auch bei den rap songs wenn man seinen magen leeren will)
Wow German Music really went Downhill from 2016 onward. Especially the Rap Scene changed drastically. Before 2016 the most famous Rap Songs were some sort of Feel Good Vibe. Meanwhile 2016 Onward all i hear is Autotune and wannabe Gangsta Rap.
"Feel Good Vibe" as in Sido - Endlich Wochenende? lol
7:01 "Au revoir" is the French "Good bye" and literally means "so that we may see us again" (voir = to see, revoir - to see again). It means just the same as the German "Auf Wiedersehen" but sounds better.
Apart from those two words the lyrics are German.
Also I think Mark Forster just wanted to do his signature "Oh Oh"😂
12:40 lets be honest, the stuff you heard from 2016 onwards isn't even rap, its just a mediocre bass boosted beat and some guy yodeling around about sport cars, drugs and how much female he gets while trying to make the deepest voice possible and autotune amped up all the way... calling that rap feels just wrong because there definitely is a huge and awesome rap scene in germany. It's just not "these" guys...

Another German here .I agree . German rap is shit.
@Mimi-763 slaaaaay
Loved most german music from the 2010s... until 2016. Seeing these Top 10s let me understand why.
So, as a lot of people have pointed out that the transition towards rap happened around 2016 which is when a lot of youths started listening on their own and there was a trend of this "alpha male, gangsta, Arab style, expensive life style". So yes, a lot of people listened to it and it was popular but that was a very distinct group (basically male teens) and the rest of Germany suffered as it wasn't their cup of tea.
And also, there is a lot of famous German rap artists that are enjoyed by a lot of Germans but interestingly they weren't on the list. So idk about this list tbh.
For example, another very popular rap song in Germany was "Bong Zimmer"
@@thatone42069 I find Dicht und Ergreifend auch geil zum Beispiel, auch in keine Liste oder so
7:21 only the name is French the rest is German
German "gangster rap" sucks. It's basically different beats for the same lyrics and the same "I'm such a bad ass"- voice
The reason why you have recognised some songs the last time and not this time because you have listened to english songs from germany. These songs here are just in german so its obvious that you just recognised the other ones
Also only one Rammstein song in here, which would be recognised more.
Still weird considering some of the songs were really viral. On the other hand, he doesn't even know Cro.
I still know that „Astronaut“ had a CRAZY hype, when I was still in primary school…
I feel like I still know the lyrics if I hear it just for one time again…
Not a fan of all this german rap going around ruining the music industry. A lot of people prefer the 80s and 90s instead when music evolved to the good.
Yeah i Like mor German Rap from The 2000 and before
There is a lot of good German rap, but you won't find it in the charts.
You may even choose Hip Hop from the political right-wing nowadays, which is definitly new.

This gangsterrap is just horrible... But im an old german scrub, prefer more rock and Metall. But the guy with the Panda mask has some gold stuff
As a young woman, the gangsterrap is awful. It gives me a headache every time I listen to it (and I have no issue listening to hard rock or metal)
At least (gangster)rap back in the day was actually good if you are into that kind of music, now like you said it's just autotune, zero skill and the most braindead lyrics. But it's also the people that upvote this shit because there is definitely some good stuff still that doesn't get any recognition.
@@frontallappen4981 true there are so many good artist who dont get the recognition they deserverd. i used to listen to rap in the 90s ;) so im a little bit oldskool

As a German metalhead I agree.🐼 German hiphop is good, just not the "gangsta rap".
the way i was absolutely vibing and singing along to almost all of the songs up to 2015-ish, and when the autotune Deutschrap phase started i was just 😐😐😐 it went downhill so fast it's actually kind of sad
Most of the native german people See all after 2015/2016 as a downfall! It makes us so sad to see this crasy change, most of germans don't like the new wave
Concerts in Germany are usually great; the ones going to concerts are often REALLY into the band and songs. I went to see a Slovenian band in Munich earlier this year, and people were singing along every word! People from all over the country who came to see this band sing in a language they don't speak, and making the effort to learn the lyrics to every song. The energy was fantastic
Crazy im German Born in 04 and could sing along with almost every song… I’m proud 😂
I as anlther one born 04 would not be proud. At least for those after 2016 the Asirap is just terrible.
Are we sure hes really brit and not american? U know... au revoir = spanish...😂
Fun Fact: No. 10: the singer is Adel Tawil, also you can see and hear him at No.7 and 6 as the singer of the group Ich+Ich
As a German some of these songs we still listen to in party’s (like: Monsta)
Don't know what happened in 2017, but starting then, each song was exactly the same song in this video 😂
As a German I've to tell you we sometimes use French, English or Spanish etc in our music, but sing in German
German Music Studios after hearing a 20y old Dude rant about Turkey together with random words without context said as quickly as Possible:
"Wow the Future of Music"
3:05 Actually, the singer CRO sampled some parts of the song Fight The Start by Kilians which explains why it sounds familiar :)
2017 marked the downfall of German pop. That cheap Arab rap. Every song sounds the same. Cheaply produced crap!
But almost no artist is arabic. Lauter Timos, Jacobs und Maximilians.

Listen to German Rap and Hiphop from the 1990s. It was sooo good. These artists still fill stadions 30s years later with new songs.
4:08 I love Cro so much, I actually was on a concert last week and I uploaded exactly this song on my youtube channel if youre interested. Cro was veeeeery popular in the first half of 2010s. He changed his music style a bit and he is not such a big "hype" anymore but I like him even more because he is more experimental
As somebody from germany I'm like....holy shit were those really all in those years also....just bopping to evry song here😂
Forgot to tell, there's an updated version on the channel expanding to 2024 I think. Otherwise there's the 2000s and the 1980s you can react to, or also the "Most popular German song in each month" video which goes from 2010 to 2022 I think.
A music festival would be so cool in Germany.
Rock am Ring, Wacken, Airbeat One: Are we a joke to you?
As a German who lived through the era, I was in my 20ies back then mind you,.....this gave me nostalgia. No idea how this video ended up in my algorithm but i sure am glad it did!!!
The songs until 2016 are my childhood. All great songs
The Song from Revolverhelden "ich lass das Licht an" was Made for the girlfriend of one member to propose to her. 😊
aww man the flashbacks hearing that songs... its only a few seconds.. and for most of the songs you dont even get to hear the drops and only some of the beat... but man... good memories

Good music stop existing here from 2016 on. Back then i was happy every month when my father got the new CD with the TOP 100 songs. And now most of this Charts are absolutely rubbish and not worth the word music

die is not meaning to pass away.
die in german is a definite article ... it means " the"
In summary, "die" in english primarily refers to the act of dying or a gaming cube, while "die" in german is a grammatical article for feminine nouns.

since you said that german concerts and festivals would kick hard, i can only agree! I´ve been to multiple different ones and the best one by far, if you like all kinds of Techno and Elektro, is the "Sonne, Mond & Sterne" festival (translated to: "Sun, Moon & Stars" festival). Many music creators that are not only known in Germany but all over the world are attending and like other Techno festivals it is a gigantic one with many differntly themed Stages and therefor artists. If you ever want to try one out, then I can only recommend this one :D
I forgot how many amazing German songs we used to get 😭😭 missing those times ❤

The newer rap sucks. But I'm kind of disappointed the list didn't include anything from SXTN. They are two girls rapping and they used to be super popular (they have split up a couple years ago and pursue solo music now, but aren't as popular as they were as a duo)
Well you have to basically see it like that. 2010 we were all Teenagers or Kids, and Rap was starting to get cool and trendy when we got older. I mean besides some iconic old songs like “Monsta” we don’t really listen to the old songs. Most people started listenening to Rap songs. The rappers Mero, Capital Bra started to get really cool for 12 year olds and and for over 16 years old, they started listening to Bausa, Nimo, Dardan and so go on. I never noticed it but when Rap basically started to make its rounds in Germany, i don’t know about the rest, but it flashed me as a 15 year old back then. I was like “Wuohhhhh, that sounds so cool”.
You can just feel the downfall of music.Every year it's getting worse and worse.

@@Felix_Geoguessr Nope, just getting worse. Every idiot can "rap" with autotune, and looking at this list every idiot has done so.
@@Felix_Geoguessr hell nah
Also fun fact...after 2016 german music went downhill. Backwards. On a hill made of rocks. Into a literal dumpster fire.
Not gonna lie, 2016 was when everything went downhill. I like rap, but my god, the german rap mainstream is... Horrendous. Genuinely horrendous. You know it's bad when there's a very popular, over 35 episodes long video series called "Die schlechtesten Deutschrap lines" (the worst german rap lines) and almost 99% of all songs that are covered in it are from after 2016. Before then we had Prime Sido, Cro, some good stuff from Antilopen Gang and Die Firma... And now all we have is autotuned BS about drugs, sex, alcohol, sex, drugs, money, drugs, alcohol, drugs, money, designer clothes, money, drugs, designer clothes, hatred, designer clothes, fake "Ghetto" stories, designer clothes, sex, drugs, alcohol... I think you get what i mean... I really miss the old times of music and I'm not the only one. And no, I'm not some boomer or some older, cynical millennial. I'm 17. And my friends are around the same age and all think the same way I do. We have no problem with that type of music existing, everyone can listen to whatever they like, but it just sucks SO MUCH that it is as popular as it is, because everyone is just copying that sloppy, lazy, and uninspired music style and i haven't come across a good new german rap song in a long time. Alligatoah still makes bangers, but he's moving away from rap and switching to punk (which I love, but still means that there's no good german rap coming from him anymore), Sido hasn't done anything that great in a while and most of his songs are collaborations with artists i really dislike, and the only really listenable things i can think off are joke songs that are parodies of the current rap crowd, like for example the stuff SSIO makes. Not even Peter Fox and SEEED have made anything particularly good in a while...
As a german born in 2009 the songs till 2015 is my childhood
Was Capital bra the only active creator in 2019 or what 😂
You rly need to listen to some Peter Fox Songs ( Augenbling, Alles Neu, Schwarz zu Blau) Sido (he has a lot of very funny or serious songs that are rly good ) and Herbert Grönemeyer songs ( Mensch, Der Weg, Männer. But you need the english translation for all of that. I think you won't regret it :)
