Thankyou for this amazing video. Loved it !!! Check out "One Giant Leap" ... Tracks "Daphine" & "The Way You Dream" The latter features Michael Stipe. I just know you will love them. Album & dvd from 2002 is brilliant ! Jim X
The lady from Jacksonville is the great Susan Tedeschi who just happens to be married to Derek Trucks, the slide guitarist in the video (who used to play with the Allman Brothers). The Tedeschi Trucks Band is one of the best acts on the touring circuit, catch em if you can. Great pick guys!
I think JPJ probably arranged this performance. He is criminally overlooked by the casual fan, but not by musicians who know how brilliant he is. He was such a big part of their music not only with his phenomenal bass playing, but with all his keyboard work as well as all manner of stringed instruments and bass pedals. He added so much color to Zeppelin’s music and the band wouldn’t have been nearly as good without his contributions which also include his arranging skills along with his song crafting. Thanks for doing this one because it’s always good to keep this classic material alive with great musicians giving their interpretation of music that probably inspired them as it did me.
This is a great version for sure. The next Playing for Change to hear is The Weight, with Robbie Robertson and Ringo Starr along with another great combination of artists.
The Tedeschi trucks band is so good!!! I saw them last summer at the Bend amphitheater. I’m in a slide guitar kick these days. I suggest the song “ANYHOW”. Strap in- it’s awesome. Derricks uncle was drummer for allman bros. He is married to Susan Tedeschi who is 9 years his elder. A charismatic couple who is absolutely top notch.
My pleasure. Awesome request. I heard this version of the last summer and a few weeks later I saw Robert plant and tedeschi trucks band 2 days apart. My hope was the Rocks gods were going to mash those two groups together and play this song. Maybe a fantasy but I believe in things like that.
So Sebastian Robertson on one of the guitars is the son of the legendary Robbie Robertson from The Band. There are so many incredible artists from around the world in this Playing For Change organization. They have been around for a while. Check them out often please, you will enjoy everything they do. But specifically check out The Weight featuring Robbie Robertson and many other artists i think including Ringo Star.
Yes! Ringo and Robbie. I almost picked “The Weight.” I love how the musicians in these videos are jamming to the same song, but thousands of miles apart - around the world. Thanks 😽❤️🔥
Awesome! Love the blues combined with the eastern vibes. And Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks are amazing musicians. And of course John Paul Jones was the glue in Zeppelin and talented multi-instramentalist. Some of the song reminds me a bit of a live version that Page/Plant did of Kashmir. On another unrelated note, you guys really need to check out the new Riverside, especially the song "Friend or Foe", but the whole album is amazing.
Playing for change music is always stellar. I agree with Lex. One of my favorite songs of Led Zeppelin. Please play more. Even without a paying person. This music is for the soul. I always am so happy inside listening to their stuff
Michele Michele, Right on the money, as always! Thanks for your excellent requests! Nick/Lex, Derek and Susan are married and have one of the hottest bands going these days (for my money!), Tedeschi Trucks Band!! You should really dive deep into them! And dive deep into the whole "Playing for Change" catalog!! Fabulous versions of greats like "Ripple" (Grateful Dead), "Gimme Shelter" (Stones), "The Weight" (The Band), "Iko Iko" (Dr. John), "Get Up Stand Up" (Bob Marley & The Wailers) and on and on...Really well done material! Always tasteful!!
Thanks M.M. ! That must have been a complicated project to pull off. Nick - I had put an Allman Brothers video on an early blues marathon in order to highlight Derek Trucks' slide playing. His wife is Susan Tedeschi, and they have the Tedeschi/Trucks Band together.
This rendition makes me cry also. Thanks y'all! ❤ I recommend Playing For Change: The Weight ft. Robbie Robertson & Ringo Starr; Listen To The Music ft Tom Johnston; Imagine ft. John Lennon; Sitting on The Dock of The Bay; Redemption Song, so many more...
To see Jonesy on bass gets me emotional, but the double whammy of the Norwegian lady then the Maori/ New Zealand lady (Mihirangi-corrected thanks to lady below) gets the tears flowing. And I'm a retired soldier! Peace, love and bellbottoms from Canada.

Love all the Playing for Change covers. Their version of The Grateful Deads Ripple is the song I want at my funeral. It’s just a beautiful song sung magnificently.
Susan Tedeschi is married to Derek Trucks ( a PHENOMENAL slide guitar player) who in turn is the nephew of Butch Trucks, drummer of Allman Brothers Band. Check out music from Tedeschi Trucks Band! Susan has a gorgeous voice and is a great guitarist herself.
These guys fly under the radar. I saw them last summer and they were great. If you like slide guitar then check out "The Record Company"! The friggin rock. The lead singer is rock n roll Americana at it's finest. Plus, can you think of a better name for band the "The Record Company"!
