I really enjoyed your video - I'm thinking about booking a RIU hotel for my next holiday so I look for sources which will help me to choose the right hotel. As for your comments relating to Cancun airport - I didn't find it as bad as it might seem. Yes we waited for some time to go through passport control after arrival but it was nothing compared to the Birmingham airport. This airport can be a real nightmare so warning to everybody who might travel from Birmingham. We arrived a day before the flight and stayed in a hotel so we were able to do the luggage drop off a day before the flight. On the morning of the flight we came to the airport 2 hours before the flight, we had our bags checked in so we thought we might just fly through security and spend the time relaxing in the departure lounge - how wrong were we! The queue to the gates was enormous - it started upstairs near the stairs leading to the luggage drop offs - the next 3 (or 4) large halls were packed with people. We spent in those halls entire 2 hours and still were far from the gates. When the boarding of planes was coming people were taken out of the queue by the airport staff and led straight to the gates. So it seemed. When our departure time was coming we left the queue and moved forward - soon the staff moved us to the queue for the gates - but it wasn't straightforward either - we still had to wait for about half an hour before we actually were able to do the security check. All that time we were very stressed that we miss our flight - we never experienced anything like this before so were not sure if the crew would be waiting till everybody boards the plane -. They waited and due to the long queue at the airport our departure was delayed by 1 hour. It is worth mentioning that we were not traveling in high season. I have travelled from other airports in the region: Manchester, East Midlands, Luton and have never seen such crowds. It is due to the fact that it has so many international flights and only one terminal.

This hotel is visited by many British people so apparently isn't as bad for tipping as the hotels where mostly the Americans and the Canadians stay. Last year I stayed in one of such hotels (Barcelo) and the tipping culture there was crazy - everybody who spoke English was waving their notes in the pool bar before ordering their drinks - and those people were given priority. Those Americans bring their tipping culture with them - it doesn't seem to be a big part of the Mexican culture though - the Spanish speaking people never tipped in the pool bars - I saw them tipping at the a la cartes and in the lobby bar but not even once in a pool bar.
@@1TheBrammers Yeah, I thought the singer was a bit shouty. The violinist is a very good violinist, although how well he fits in with a neon party is open to debate 🤣

How was the tipping culture inside the resort? Was tipping mandatory at the bar ?
You didn’t have to tip at all but we tipped the waiter and housekeeping at the end of the holiday

That singer and violinist were there for our first 2 weeks in November / December, but by the 3rd week, they'd binned them off.
