Hey, folks, these are volunteers doing the readings. Ease up on the criticisms, try a less selfish attitude, or offer to record your own reading, which presumably would be flawless. What's the reason for being so negative?
Exactly! Say thank you for volunteering your time to give me a free book. Don't criticize the gift. Don't listen if you don't like it but quit the outraged insults
Well, the reading IS being done by volunteers... for free, and these short stories ARE, for the most part, rather old, amateurish, and obscure... Therefore, I personally am quite willing to overlook a bit in the way of loss of quality in their reading, considering. Also, it was the first of these public domain audiobooks, which I have so thoroughly enjoyed FOR FREE, countless numbers of times... that have had this particular issue...
Oi mate- I don’t know why but people from across the *pond* jus(t) can’t spell words. (Grins, cheekily) Mr. P: As a dual citizen with fam in the U.K. (who’s) visited often, please let me assure you: The U.K. & U.S. - like all other places- have a few brilliant readers, some middling, and many wretched. All the Librivox volunteers deserve a salute, however. Cheers, sir.
Silly and rude comment. I apologize to the country criticized, which (I assume) gave us Shakespeare, Monty Python, Tolkein, and many good speakers. The US is currently struggling to produce an informed citizenry.
I'm sorry but if you're reading for the benefit of others then scanning the story for unusual words, checking their pronunciation using a good dictionary, ought to reduce the painful (to hear) stop/start or halting style. Besides, there are videos on You Tube giving advice on reading for audio. I'm 35 mins in & I can't listen to this reader any longer!!
Thanks for these stories! I enjoy the different readers, it is like listening to a friend reading me a book.

Thanks for your comment. So many comments are rude and wholly unappreciative.
Not acceptable! I demand a refund! Oh wait. This is free. Never mind!
Get through the first story then the reader changes, much better!
Why can't I find a single recording of Ship Of Shadows?????????????????????
Record it!
Do you people LISTEN after you record? The second story in this set is almost indecipherable.
I find nothing wrong with the second story or reader?
I apologise for the "you people" umbrella. I've grown in understanding, since then.
People expect a lot for free
There are lots of things done for free by volunteers which are good quality.
This recording unfortunately is bot one of them
sounds like a good story...read by someone struggling to Read
Got to learn some how!
I don't know why but People from across the pound jus can't read stories .

I suggest that complainers volunteer to read stories. Not one has ever replied.

@@cmillerg6306 i think the comment was directed in the opposite direction. Still it was silly and rude.

Edward Malc you stopped to early, @ 38 min a new narrator of a classic Philip k dick short.
Edward Malc You must be insufferable being around! Lol
I totally agree with you. I had to stop also. Doesn't mean we're insufferable, just easily irritated😫
@@user-sg9mg6cn2c well, there is always the option of keeping irritation over minor things to oneself.
Extremely difficult to listen to this reader. He sounds like he is struggling to read.
If you don’t like it, don’t listen. Then those who appreciate the unpaid work of volunteers will be spared your tasteless whining.
Read faster dude.... life is too short. . To live long enough to make it to the end of the.......... ..st. .or...y
