As an eight year old, it was the most incredible thing I’d ever seen.Filled with. extraordinary creatures, I still remember that day as if it was yesterday. And the Minaton is one of my all time favourite creations from Ray Harryhausen. Another amazing job from Star Ace, and a brilliant review from you, John!

I do hope that Santa thinks I've been a good boy this year🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I saw this film as a child on its first release at the cinema andhave always been mesmerised by Harryhausen's worlds. At that age, I had to visit the local hospital a lot and occasionally chatted to the very tall and gentle hospital porter who worked there. As it turned out, his name was Peter Mayhew, Minaton himself! Ohhh, if I'd only known that at the time!!!
Another superb polyresin statue from Star Ace! Just received Pegasus yesterday - if it weren't for the instruction page I'd still be trying figure out how to turn on Medusas eyes, the the magnetic switch is ingenious! Would love to win this guy, even though I have almost no room left lol. The upcoming Gigantic Kali looks incredible!

Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger was the only Ray Harryhausen film I saw on the big screen so it always has a special place in my heart - and talking of hearts, the Minaton was instantly my favourite character and I remember being sad at the end of that pyramid scene knowing I wouldn't see him on screen any more. My schoolmates would tease me because I would talk about this film more than Star Wars, but I didn't care. The model is the usual excellent quality, and I love the mini framed figures - but that heart is amazing. Thanks John, Star Ace Toys and to all involved.

John, I spoke with Paul from Star ⭐️ Ace Toys, and he told me that a Brontosaurus 🦕 figure from One Million Years B.C. is very likely! 😊. This Deluxe Minaton is simply EPIC! 🤩. Awesome 👏🏼 video! Sinbad And The Eye Of The Tiger is my favourite Ray Harryhausen film, perhaps because it was the first I saw when I was old enough to fully understand what was happening. Plus all of the characters are well-drawn : a charming and dashing Sinbad, a villain who - as bad as she is - has some of our sympathy, and of course some fantastic creatures. Of those, Minaton has always been my favourite. Even though he is an unthinking minion on the side of the baddies, after all these years it still upsets me when he gets "killed" - even more so when Zenobia dismisses his demise so curtly.
What a beauty! Star Ace Toys has done it once again! "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger" is also my very first Harryhausen movie i saw, on our neighbour's VHS-machine...the only in our street who had a VIDEO-PLAYER! This must have been in the very early 80's. So good memories! Now I have all of Harryhausen's movies on Blu-ray.( at least, I think I have all of them) Thank you for making these awesome unboxing-videos, John! CHEERS! 🤓👍
Thanks yes they have excelled here. Luckily we have the originals models from the films as reverence for them. Great VHS memories too. I am hoping to have all video formats of Ray’s films in display at a future exhibition.
Always wanted to see Minaton get into a proper scrap. When I first saw this film I thought he was the coolest character, and I was so excited to see him kick some serious ass. There had been this great build up to what should have been the showdown of the century, but instead he was crushed by a big old stone block. What a let down! Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the movie, but I still wish we got to see Minaton and Sinbad fight to the death.

Hello Tobias. I get these free as a trustee of the Harryhausen Foundation. Also I get the first release for approvals and unboxing videos. I know the supply chain is strained due to high demand and shipping issues.
I have every figure in this set, they are all amazing but the lack of stability in these figures is really unsettling. How does this stay up? What if there’s a minor shake? It toppled over and breaks. I can’t think of a single statue company that doesn’t have bases as a default. And even if I buy the optional bases (I did on all of them) they don’t have a slot for them to go into. So it’s as good as not having one. This is a major no no.
I know this Minaton is 50cm tall, but how much more height does his staff add? I’m looking to pick this up but have to know how he’ll fit in the display. Would love a response ASAP if anyone knows. Thanks in advance!
Do you know if Star Ace Toys have plans to also make a troglodyte, sabertooth, the giant valrus and so on? I´ve sent them a message but have got no answer yet. It would be so cool if they would make all Harryhausen figures.

hate to say this john and hope you dont mind but is there any way star ace could re do the trogladyte model ive seen at thier show on a facebook page as it is awful and looks nothing like the original and loads of people have said it so i dont think it would sell well

i first watched it back in the 1990s along with other harryhausen movies ,i also didn't like how the minaton was ended...
Star ace really did justice to that “filmed in Dynarama” feel with this figure.
I’m partial to Eye of the Tiger than Golden Voyage but the latter had the scariest moving statues.
