Potts mountain is a blast. A lot of bear hunters use it during the winter keep that in mind. It’s fun to duel sport and a stock Jeep can make it but you will not be able to do all the obstacles but you will have fun. The summer is the driest but rattlesnakes are everywhere. Great trail we ride it a lot being 15 minutes from the house
@@mrsgrasty maybe long wheel base trucks have problems. I know we tried in school with a 2001 Chevy 2500 4 door 8 foot bed. I dented the door and bed side and bottomed out alot
I was kind of pissed off the main road that isn't supposed to be a Jeep trail was about as bad. I hadn't been up there in years, and you could easily drive through. I was hitting deep mud holes the whole way and was in a Jetta. I made it through to Potts Creek, but the whole time I thought I was going to get stuck, and nowhere to turn around to go back.
That definitely sounds like not the kind of day trip you'd be expecting to have in a Jetta! Although Potts Jeep Trail is definitely the hardest in the area we absolutely also found some decent mud holes on some of the nearby tracks that could swallow up a tire easily.
Thank you so much for the kind words. The only advice I have is make a lot of mistakes and practice as much as you can...and watch a lot of youtube videos from the professionals lol. - John
Great video!! This was a great trail...and free!! Did it as part of an 'East coast badged trail loop', it was perfectly positioned between Peter's Mill and Bearwallow. Why Peter's mill is badged and Potts Mt. isn't is a mystery! 35", locked in the front, and winched 3 times (also a wet day), this is a true Jeep trail. Did the whole loop as a solo vehicle which is NOT recommended, but it was a bucket list trip and i'm old, soooooo...
We completely agree! Potts was one of our favorites when we were mapping Virginia. It is a true Jeep trail and should definitely be a Badge of Honor! If you took any pics, head on over to the website or apps and leave a trail review. We would love to see them!

I think on a dryer day, he would have easily made it. Wheeling in the rain is tough, no question about it. How modified, if at all, was the blue Rubicon?
You can find this information and a ton more on our website or app. You can find the link in the video description above or search Potts Mountain TrailsOffroad in Google.
It was our impression that The Stacks was the mandatory hardest obstacle along the trail (the one with the illegal bypass), but it sounds like that may be incorrect. Whereabouts are The Stacks you are talking about? That was our first time on the trail and we had to take a few educated guesses on the name of each section.
They are around the halfway point near the open fields. A small hike through the woods from there and then your standing on rock cliffs with some of the best views@@Trailsoffroad
It's hard to winch and take video at the same time. Take a look at our trail guide for the legal route (www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/1580-potts-mountain-jeep-trail). Thanks for watching.

Good to know. Thanks for the information.
Would a stock Tundra TRD make it, in your opinion?

The blue rubicon is on a 2.5" lift with 37's. Thanks for watching!
Maybe I missed it - but this is an up and back trail right?
All these details and more are on our website. You can find the link in the video description above.
So you have to main road to get back to the bottom if you haul in on a trailer

You all missed the best part of the trail. The stacks ! The best view off the mountain on a stacked rock cliff.

@ChrisElmore-vc7bj yep this spot you are talking about is one of the best views off any east coast trail!!
What is a “mount-en”?
At what time in the in the video?
I think it's funny it's called a "jeep" trail and they have a Samurai on the trail sign.😅
There is 70's Buicks on signs all over California but says Jeep Trail hahaha
You definitely took the blue jeep on bypass at the Stacks and definitely didn't say anything cause it's illegal
It's hard to winch and take video at the same time. Take a look at our trail guide for the legal route (www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/1580-potts-mountain-jeep-trail). Thanks for watching.
At the 0:30 mark, the blue Jeep is on the stacks 🤔
@@boudreau1020didn't even notice that
ハッキリとはしないですが、一般的な乗用車のの中で世界中でオールマイティーに使える車の中では、もしかしてJeep が最強の車ではないのでしょうか?雪道では軽いジムニーシエラの様な気もしますが・・・
