    It's not all about the money, everyone in this world faces a grind of some sort and it doesn't always matter if a player doesn't advance beyond independent or affiliated leagues. I have gotten to know a handful of players personally and you would be hard pressed to find a more committed, talented and upstanding group of guys. Nearly all of whom have their bachelors/masters degrees. It's also not good to generalize that moving up is the ultimate goal - if a player wants to stay 8 years in an independent league and they're good enough to stay but not advancing for whatever reason, they're still a part of an awesome ball club in which all types of players/backgrounds have a place and while supporting a pro baseball presence in communities of all sizes throughout the country.

    Heard the Atlantic League would give AAA a run for its money, IMO that's good ball. In most affiliated minor pro sports the emphasis us on development for the players on their way up. Independent minor professional teams winning is more the goal because winning sells tickets.

    • @CatholicTraditional
      @CatholicTraditional 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. Unaffiliated semi-pro teams don’t have to worry about getting “called-up”. Even AAA is obsessed with development.

    I'm 31 but I still feel like I have a chance to at least make an indy team. I had lots of potential at 18 and pissed it away but just recently realized that I can still move like I did throw and smack a 90 mph fastball

    • @ElementalRL

      Same lol. I’ve come to terms with it already but I wonder how far I could’ve made it. I used to pitch really well. Throw around 79-81 at 14 so I believe I would’ve ended up throwing close to 90 if I hadn’t messed up my arm. Now I’m just playing independent ball, although I’m no where near the type of player i was 5 years ago, it’s still fun to be around the game.

    I was offered two contracts in the Independent league. $750 a month. Difficult days traveling in a bus. There is a chance, but remote. Most players are from major league teams and AAA, AA, A, all were cut for one reason or another. Mostly its injuries that end their previous contracts. Lots of good players though. Be careful of the foreign players, they think they own our game :). !!
