I've always had a love/hate relationship with pro sports. These dudes make MILLIONS. Local municipalities pay for the stadiums. And it's a hardship to afford tickets to see tge game. Add the discrepancies in pay and it's infuriating.
Then add the greed of owners with advertising now uniforms and coming in batting helmets, money they receive to line their pockets more, it’s no wonder that myself at age 42, who grew up loving pro sports, especially NLB, now detests the game, I even stopped attending at least one game a season last year, a streak that began in 1990 to 2022 with 2020 covid-less fans being on exception. The final straw for myself was the advertisement on uniforms which thought I was sacred and pitch clock, mix in my team now starts there evening games at 6:40 not 7:05-10, just not worth the time and effort to attend a game only to be pushed out early.
MLB has a history of mistreating the players at the lower levels. Read Jim Boutons book… ball four. Owners have made millions and millions… by cutting the players short..
If MLB changed the rules for minor leaguers, less bonus money, but a yearly salary starting at $75K a year, would this be approved by the players association? A ball $75K AA $85K AAA $100k?
So there should be no reason for a minor league player to report out of shape! If they’re getting roughly $5000 per month, they don’t have to work other jobs, and can concentrate on being in shape.
The worst part is not getting paid for spring training or playoffs. If a team is successful the players work eight months and get paid for five.

MLB players need to empower MiLB players by standing up for them when next collective bargaining agreement is negotiated, might have to give up a portion of their own slice of the pie. But nothing will change without them.
So basically politicians took bribery money from MLB owners and lobbyists to avoid legislation that would have required minimum wage and overtime when that money was supposed to go to livable wages for minor league players. Sounds awfully familiar.
"Not so good player who makes it to the major leagues"?
There aren't any " not so good players" in the majors. They may not be as good as the freaks that are the stars everyone knows, but they are way better than the average minor league player.
man it's sad that MLB owners don't see to it that these young fry can clear $45,000 after taxes. 😢😢 hell's bells these players are the 1/2 percenters that have 1/100th of a percent chance of getting a cup of coffee in the Bigs and then being DFA, and they are treated like cattle. there should be PSA on tv ballgames telling kids what they are in for.
Minor league players are perfectly fine. They love the lifestyle, and are more than happy with their salaries.
Ya but these kids get signing bonuses in the millions … spread it out for a few years for if or when you make the show … your doing well for yourself .
whatever that bonus cut it in half for taxes. and i know of a dude that bought momma a house that neither he or she could pay taxes on after his bonus dried up and he was cut from low A ball. poor devils.

Minor league baseball has been around for over 100 years. They have always paid the players enough money for a fun life. Stop complaining and begging.
