One of the best theme songs in all of television.

Ken Aldin actually wrote the Pyramid theme & composed the '70s version. While Bob Cobert composed the '80s version & BTW the Pyramid theme song is Tuning Up.

Don’t Forget, This Song Was Also Used in The John Davidson Era Too! (1990-1991) I Think… :P

I wasn't even aware of the 1991 series...😅 My Pyramid knowledge isn't as bright as some other game shows

Yes it was! And during John Davidson's short run they would sometimes let the entire theme play (including the funky part) during the celebration when someone won $100,000. Example at 11 min mark in this video th-cam.com/video/41gdVWhh3GU/w-d-xo.html

They should bring back this old set for the current version.

No, the current one looks great. It's an updated version that stays true to the 80's version.

Bob Cobert, as in (the) Robert Cobert who did the Dark Shadows music? I would've guessed Quincy Jones or Ed Kalehoff.

Any chance of doing ANY of the LMAD themes?

Thie is the intro of the theme edited not the full theme used at the end of the show. The full theme is about 2 minutes and 54 seconds.

I loved all the game shows when I was a kid. This theme song was always fun to listen to. Dick Clark was an amazing game show host. Thanks for sharing this.

There was a lot I thank that legend for- well, maybe one, since I was just around for him counting us down into the New Year. My parents do remember him very well, when they watched him host the Pyramid, but also American Bandstand, in which most people today still remember him from.
He is forever our Pyramid, Bandstand, and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Host.

As a kid when they was no school at the time, I used to watch the $25,000 and $100,000 in NYC when it was on WCBS-TV and right before the TPIR, and the host was Dick Clark, John Davidson, and the announcers was Johnny Gilbert, Bob Hilton, and Charlie O’ Donnell. A great game show to watch.

This version of the theme, composed by Bob Cobert, was never used on ABC. It was CBS and syndication. The version used on ABC was "Tuning Up" (and was the original theme for the $10,000 Pyramid when it debuted back in 1973 on CBS, and the original $25K Pyramid in once-a-week nighttime syndication hosted by Bill Cullen).

Do you know who owns the IP rights to Pyramid? I want to give credit to the correct rights holders so I don't get in trouble.
EDIT: It looks like it's Sony who holds the rights, as they distribute the show to ABC, like how they do with Celebrity Wheel and Celebrity Jeopardy

    • @abcwatermark
      @abcwatermark ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@GameShowCues Sony does indeed own the format rights to Pyramid. As to the music, the current version is produced by Bleeding Fingers Music. The previous version as noted was by Bob Cobert, who adapted Ken Aldin's "Tuning Up" for the 80s version. ("Tuning Up" was production library music, and can be found on the second CD of game show music released by Varese Sarabande.)

You can never go wrong with the days of watching this game show, every single time.
It’s one of the best shows Dick Clark ever hosted, when he was around.
    Miss that guy.
