In response to your comment from 4 days ago: My fanfic depicting Menzoberranzan-which I mentioned in the comments below-is on Ao3 under the nickname ‘ShadowedScribe.’ It’s nearly 100k words so far and for now, but it’s still just the beginning: focusing on introducing the world and my own original characters alongside canon ones. I’m expanding details on the Drow, but also on the Duergar and exploring lesser-developed Drow characters, like Dantrag Baenre and other powerful houses. Personally, I feel the lore became too centered on Drizzt (and with everyone circulating him...) after The Dark Elf Trilogy, leaving so many fascinating characters and centuries of Drow history underexplored. I’ve also been working on scanning and restoring old D&D comics and guides to preserve their original style while improving quality, avoiding modernized AI aesthetics that sometimes lose depth by leaning into standard goth instead of considering the former mushroom-y and more rounded styles among stalactites. In the future, I intend to adapt parts of my fanfic into playable adventures focusing on these underused characters and the expanded Duergar lore 🙂🎲

Love these videos, thanks for bringing the lore to life. I have always loved the setting surrounding the Drow since Gary Gayax first conceived them and introduced us to their world and under dark cities in the original AD&D game modules (i think they first appeared in G1-3?). Our little group played through the D1-3 and Q1 (my personal fav) as the culmination of our campaign where we faced off against Loth herself, back in the 80’s and I have been hooked ever since! The Drow and the lore have certainly come a long way since then 😎🤘🔥

“Sleep sound” with Cumberbatch was a nice surprise but so many things are wrong with that video. Yes, I love it. I have cropped it (only with the scenes of Menzoberranzan) and have it playing as my actual Windows background yet so much from Narbondel to Drizz’s leave is so wrong 😅 . The other one you use, of the patrol with young warriors from the academy going up into the caverns is my locked-windows image and the artist is, I believe, Tatiana Vetrova 🙏 I absolutely love the rest of artwork you used, many I hadn’t seen! I also actually had Zak himself tell some of the origin of Menzoberranzan upon stumbling into a statue of Menzoberra the Kinless with the protagonist of the fanfic I’m working on 😊 (I set it on 1319DR). Nice video!
Awe thanks so much! Yeah there isn’t a lot of resources to make videos like this. Kinda have to cobble things together. I make a lot of AI art for the videos, but I spend a lot of time to try and make it good. Lots of garbage ai out there. Where do you share your writing?
I pronounce so many names wrong lol 20 years of reading these and i called it Menz-ah-berranzan. I still refuse to change how i say drizzt though. Drissssst just sounds wrong. Dritz sounds better to me, like how you say pizza
The way you say Drizzt is how I say it and how R.A. Salvatore says it. But everyone reads and hears names differently and that's okay. Thanks for watching!
@@mikeg5039 Just because we're different doesn't mean we're wrong. Drow itself has two pronunciations like cow or crow. I'm more of a crow-drow guy myself, mostly because I like the black birds. So everything else is open to interpretation.
