Gee, when I lived in SD for a short while in the mid-90's. The Boom was a great escape from Hillcrest. Just reminiscing, brough me in for looking it up. Now living in Reno. Great memories.

Went there every time we were there for summer vacation. We always stayed at The Suf And Sand", but we partied at The Boom Room , The Coast Inn and the club accross the street with the piano bar, "MAIN STREET. " I used to sing there all the time. Who didn't ? Too bad they want to wipe out any remembrance of gay life. Great memories !

Why doesn't Gay Hollywood rise up and save the Boom from the breeders trying to take over!? I don't get it. Laguna Beach use to be so fun and so gay, it always has been.

In the mid 80s my friends and I were called the Boom children. We hung out when we were teenagers. Best history of growing up.

Loved the bartop aquarium, little fishies swimming under your drink.

such great memories of The Boom, so many drunk fun nights AND one of my favorite memories that I can still see in my mind today is me with a group of friends from that night at the bar all walking down the steps to the beach, sitting on the sand on a warm summer night and the full moon was sparkling on a perfectly still ocean. it was magic and I told everyone "don't ever forget this moment", and I never did. The front part of the Boom was a restaurant for awhile that served brunch which is the first place I remember having eggs benedict with a side of what our server said were "asssparagussss sssspearsssss" with an exagerated silibant S.

I think it's just The Coast Inn now, no business had opened in the Boom space on the bottom floor last time I cruised by.

Had some great times there in the 80s. Great location by the beach.
Too many gay bars I used to frequent no longer exist. It's a part of gay culture that is slowly dying.

My first time at the Boom Boom Room was in the spring of 1978. Great times. Wasn’t there another Gay bar just down the street?

79-82? I probably know you LOL! Actually I think my first time to the Boom was 78. Local San Diego boy here. Laguna and Hollywood we're periodic escapes. Remember the Little Shrimp up the alley? Haha. Such great memories. 😊
