Fab interview. Deneuve is so well spoken and intelligent, then there's her charm and beauty, and her sensitivity and honesty. What a brilliant lady.

“What else do you need?!” Charlie Rose often confuses being a blow hard with being perceived as a serious journalist. Mrs. Deneuve is a joy to listen to. Thank God, she saves this interview.

Charlie can be awesome but I often find myself wishing he would just shut up. How many times did she say it wasn’t about “suffering” but he continued to suggest suffering and refused to allow her to articulate her own feelings. So annoying.

Catherine is known in France to speak very quickly and swallow some of the words (even in her movies) that's why she is great in comedies for example ("Le sauvage", "La vie de château"... ).

"What would of you had done if you weren't an actress?"
"I don't know have kids, get married, get divorced."
That was an interesting quote, probably just an observation of human behaviour, not ones intentions.
Towards the end I think Charlie wasn't able to grasp what she was articulating, the things Cathrine said she observed in life that are obstacles to happiness is the actual pursuit of happiness in today's world isn't as simple as it once was, not in a material senese but rather one human to another.

I felt the same way about the last ten minutes. Sometimes, these conversations become so deep that we forget that they are still interviews and Charlie has certain boxes he needs to check. She answered his questions in a way that he did not realize, so he believed she was the one who misunderstood and it became very awkward

Belle de Jour is a thoroughly creepy little film and has no reason to exist other than to enable creepy little men to ogle the young Deneuve in her underwear. Not the least, the notoriously creepy Mr. Rose. The film certainly has no redeeming value, social or otherwise. However, Ms. Deneuve is graceful and intelligent and a pleasure to listen to.

You have to be an adolescent to enjoy 'Belle de Jour'. I did find it fascinating when I first saw it but now it seems silly. The Americans probably think it's sophisticated, sexy. They do not see that Severine is a very sad person, only content when her husband, who she loves, is confined to a wheelchair. She has been sexually abused as a child, can only 'enjoy' sex when forced - what's sexy about that?
