When I was a kid, Birmingham was extra beautiful, safe and a great place to grow up. But not now. It has serious problems like so many other cities.

Birmingham appears to be a beautiful modern city but all I hear about it is violent crime, gangs, urban decay. Everyplace has those problems, there is no utopia in this world.

Yes Birmingham is beautiful and it does have its bad area's but no worse than any other inner city. Definitely hs places you don't want to roam around after dark if you are not from there. No worse than Atlanta, Memphis or Chicago.

@@chucktilley7155 well my friend if you think that your hometown of Birmingham is deadly, you should try Caracas Venezuela which is ranked the deadliest big city in the world.

@@chucktilley7155 No, it is not. You must be from Hoover, a small city that has fell apart.

There is urban decay all over the US, even small town USA, that's sad. Birmingham is making a come back. Uptown is going to be beautiful when it's completed.

Birmingham appears to be a beautiful modern city and it has a major public university near its downtown area. Yet all I hear from the media is how bad and dangerous it is.

it is dangerous. i just carry 20 bucks on me in bad areas so if someone comes up to rob me they get their money and dont hurt me. ive never been robbed on the other hand

They've been cleaning it up a lot lately but you still probably shouldn't walk alone at night
