    I have a clawfoot tub and shower combo, and I HIGHLY recommend it! Not only is it classy looking, but it's really convenient. Especially if you want children later in life, or if you need to bathe your dogs. I sit on a little footstool and having the tub raised about a foot makes baths way easier with my little kids!! Also, having the option for a bath if you're feeling sick, or stressed, or sore and just need a soak is really great!

      I also have a claw foot tub with a shower. It’s a little small with the curtain, but honestly I don’t have the issues with the curtain that seem to permeate the claw foot tub online community 🤣🤣

      @andreamarvin9817 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would kill for a soaked tub. It’s also great for guests. Most people don’t have the option at home, so it’s a great treat when I stay with someone who has a full tub

    • @glitchy_taurus
      @glitchy_taurus ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have one too and I also highly recommend! It’s so cozy and convenient to have a big tub to soak in!! And there are plenty of creative solutions online to the curtain problem. I personally got one of those big wraparound curtains, cut a strip out where it needs to go around the faucet, and sewed velcro on the strips so I can close it up again to prevent leaks.

      I definitely hate shower curtains in general so being surrounded by shower curtains is my nightmare - I vote go with the tub and put a shower in a different bathroom. I take bubble baths weekly and having a bath in a gorgeous bathroom is just perfection.

    Your home has so much charm. I went with a friend to her aunts house when I was a girl. It looked so ordinary from the sidewalk, but when you stepped inside it had been done in pretty colors with beautiful furnishings perfectly suited to each spot and gorgeous window treatments and was truly a pleasure to just look around at while visiting. Your home has the same feel. We’ll done.

    Would love a video on floors! A video describing what you learned, how you did them, resources you found, tips/tricks. And trifecta style: refinishing old floors/painting floors/installing new floors
    Would be amazing to have such a useful flooring resource video in one place (+ in your style it would be extra awesome) (++ it would technically be a free project cause it would mostly be footage you already have and not buying new things 🥳)

    Random but if you had a used bookstore I could imagine how comfortable, warm, and pleasant it would be. With your style, kind heart and goal getter it would be everyone’s favorite bookshop. I can see your burst of colors, wide section of books will be such a cool place to go (and spend all our money )

    Your bedroom style went from “ecstatic kiddie bright colors” to “upscale grown up traditional style”. I love what you have done so far! Bright colors go well with traditional decor, the old English decorators do it all the time in their homes.

    If you or anyone in your home is a dedicated bath enthusiast, do the clawfoot. HOWEVER, if you think most people will still opt for the shower, just do a walk-in shower. I was so excited when I realized I had a bathtub in my place but in 3 years I have NEVER used the bath-tub. I always opt for a shower so I wish I had a walk-in shower rather than a bathtub I had to climb into. I had back and knee problems though so climbing into a tub may be more daunting for me than other people...

    love these yearly wrap-ups! I think it's be a fun video to see you do all those small things you've been wanting to do (ie. upgrade a light fixture, switch out a piece of furniture in your brother's room, fix those lights in your closet, maybe do some paint touch ups, etc.) It would be good motivation to get all those small things done!

    If you don't want the shower curtain, I recently saw someone had a claw foot tub set inside an oversized shower. Walls surrounding the tub with enough gap to clean. Still get in the tub to shower, but splashes would go to the shower walls, and it would drain onto the floor and down the shower drain.

    Great job! Each room has its own beautifully unique vibe and personality. A simple design technique when using lots of colors, is to take a dominant color from a room and incorporate it into adjacent rooms, that way, when walking from room to room, there is a little bit of the dominant color visible in the next room and so on. Hope that makes sense. Paint can be used, and also textiles, or other decorative items which match the dominant color in the previous space.
    For instance: the bright pumpkin color minimally added in the room adjacent, creates a cohesive visual flow. It’s all based on what we see as we walk from one space to another.
    Looking forward to the kitchen! ❤

      I could not agree more. I am in love with our stand in "normal" shower that is spacious and has a "glas door" and would trade that anytime for a "bathtub+shower with shower curtains" that we had in our old flat. Even when i am on holidays in hotels where there is often a bathtub with shower curtains i am looking forward to getting back home to our shower. Having a nice shower is such an underrated thing in a living space ;) loved the update btw and love, love, love following along your incredible journey. You have such amazing taste and your way slowly renovating this house by learning so many skills along the way its truly remarkable. :) Happy 2023 and looking forward to all the new videos this year !

    Bathtub conundrum- are you a shower or bath mainly person? Go for what is your main thing. Or do what I did and ve two bathrooms one with huge bathtub that takes forever to fill (but oh so worth it) and a little electric shower. I split existing bathroom into two. Measurements were done to cm and mm to ensure it works. It works very well. Obviously it ll depend on your floor plan too. I still ve shower with a bathtub BTW but connected to main water source. That way if my boiler ever breaks I ll still ve hot shower or vice versa. Well done on the house reno. You may feel like not as much progress was done as you d like but you did do very well. Especially with roof replacement. That alone would rule out any projects for me. Love your decorating style and once I get a bigger house (hopefully in next few months) I m stealing a few ideas off you.

    to think that this is your forever home, meaning you've got your whole life to "finish" it, and you've already done so much in 2022! it's very impressive. if anything, i think you can relax when thinking about all the things you meant to get done in 2022 but didn't get around to do it -- simply because one day you'll look back on it all and think 'hm, why was i in such a haste to get it done?'.

    Claw foot tubs with shower attached are a nightmare if you are mobility challenged. As someone with only 1 leg to stand on when in the shower, I want a wall to touch (usually with a hip) for balance. Especially when my eyes are closed rinsing the soap out of my hair. Soft shower curtain surrounds are scary

    This video just came up on my home page. And then you started talking about the roof and I was like, well that’s relatable! In December I bought a hundred year old home that I knew needed a roof. Every time you brought it up I felt less alone ❤️ subscribed now!

    I love your house!! Your videos give me so much hope and inspiration for my future space!
    A word on the kitchen reno - to save money, I really recommend demolishing the walls you want removed yourself. You have to be careful about a couple things (electrical and being neat around the seams of the ceiling, etc.), but it's actually really easy to do. A few videos from TH-cam university and you'll be ready to go lol. Especially having seen you work on the house and all the skills you've acquired, I'm confident you can demo the walls yourself!

    You should be so proud of yourself for how much you've gotten done and how truly beautiful your home is. I can't wait to see what 2023 brings you and your home.

    I'm really enjoying this renovation. Because it's not just about buying things. Its hands on, practical and livable. And everything you've done is amazing. But, I'm wondering what you will do when it's all done. Garden? That would be lovely

    Great work!!! I think it makes better sense to live in a space a while, to fully understand how you want it to function and how you want it to look.

      No! I want to respect their privacy. One day when they move out I'll be renovating it into an office for my boyfriend though! So it'll make a fun project!

    Ariel, please consider who watches your videos. Do you really think if you show too much outside you're going to get bombarded by a bunch of book nerds showing up on your doorstep? 😂 I mean, we adore you and all, but not in a stalkery kind of way. (I'm mostly teasing, I don't blame you for being extra cautious).
    I love the things you have done so far. I will admit, most of your decorating ideas seemed way too extreme at first, but then they worked! The Emma inspired room, for example - I was cringing my way through those color choices - but now you have the most beautiful and inviting dining room! You have inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and use more color, rather than the boring old neutrals I have always been drawn too. I hope 2023 brings us many more house reno videos, I love watching! Health, happiness, and best wishes to you and your family! ❤️
