Lyrics:
Don't mean to freak you out
But I'm painting pictures
Memories we'll have someday
Don't mean to put you out
But I'm changing channels
So we can stay in bed all day
But all I want is strictly earthly
Sweat and toil and debauchery
Full of love and urgency
I am just a raging sea
Life
Slowly bring me back to
Life
Slowly bring me back to life
Don't mean to freak you out
But the doubt is over
And everything is changing ways
Compared to what you do to me
I am just a ranging sea
Life
Slowly bring me back to
Life
Slowly bring me back to life
In this room I forget about me
Sedate myself with bland TV
Life
Slowly bring me back to
Life
Slowly bring me back to life
this and marigolds are my favorite songs from the album
slowly bring meee back toooo
EASILY ONE OF MY FAVORITE AP SONGS OF ALL TIME!!
It's also one of my favorite songs from Abandoned Pools, I love the distorted sound and the overall aggression shown in the singing and the instruments. It definitely conveys the darker tone this song goes for.
them distorted strings in the chorus drive me INSANE. love this.
I love this song so much! it's a lot heavier than their usual stuff too 👌
It's a lot like monster from their first album
One of my favorite songs from the album, I love the distorted sound, it definitely conveys the darker tone, anyways, I think the lyrics explore themes of existentialism, intimacy, and the desire for rejuvenation. The song begins with the narrator addressing someone, possibly a partner, expressing their desire to create lasting memories together despite acknowledging the uncertainty of the future. The reference to "painting pictures" and "changing channels" suggests an active engagement in shaping their shared experiences, indicating a desire for spontaneity and adventure within the confines of a comfortable, intimate setting.
The narrator's longing for earthly pleasures, such as "sweat and toil and debauchery," reflects a desire for authenticity and intensity in their interactions. They yearn for a life filled with love and urgency, symbolized by the metaphor of a "raging sea," implying a depth of emotion and vitality that transcends passivity or complacency.
There's then a significant shift in perspective or circumstance for the narrator. The line "the doubt is over" indicates a resolution of uncertainty or hesitation, implying a newfound clarity or certainty in their relationship or situation. This could signify the end of doubts or insecurities, possibly leading to a deeper connection or understanding. The phrase "everything is changing ways" implies a sense of dynamism or flux in their surroundings, suggesting that the narrator's perception of reality or their environment is evolving. This could indicate a period of transition or transformation, both internally and externally. The comparison "Compared to what you do to me / I am just a ranging sea" juxtaposes the narrator's emotional volatility with the impact of the other person's actions. The imagery of the "ranging sea" suggests tumultuous emotions or inner turmoil, contrasting with the stability or influence exerted by the other person. This could imply that the individual's presence or influence has a calming or grounding effect on the narrator, despite their own internal struggles. It conveys a sense of emotional growth, relational dynamics, and the interplay between stability and volatility within the context of the narrator's experiences.
The repeated refrain of "Life slowly bring me back to life" underscores a sense of stagnation or detachment from existence. Despite the narrator's efforts to immerse themselves in the present moment, they struggle with feelings of numbness or dissociation, as evidenced by the line "In this room I forget about me / Sedate myself with bland TV." This suggests a paradoxical longing for both connection and escapism, highlighting the complexity of human emotion and the constant quest for meaning and renewal.
Overall, I think it delves into the complexities of human relationships, the search for authenticity, and the yearning for vitality in an increasingly detached world. Through its introspective lyrics and emotive imagery, the song invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences of intimacy, alienation, and the pursuit of a life worth living.
I love this song...
I cant believe this song and Red Flag were way older than the albums they were featured on
