I was in one of the big guitar retailers (won't bother naming them) a couple of years back and the employees were all ripping these Wolfgangs. I don't care much for the shape but I picked one up and was stunned by how great the neck was and F*CKING AWESOME those pickups are. About ten minutes later the employees were all trying them out and loving them. I'm not one of those "it has to be a _______ (insert brand here)" players but was pleasantly surprised by EVH. I ended up ordering a more-expensive model through their site and love the guitar. For anyone who hasn't given them a try I highly recommend it. Cheers.

It's 40 years of his experience jammed into that guitar and when you play it for just a little bit of length of time you realize it right away!

My dream guitar is a Music Man Axis Super Sport - the original collaboration with EVH. I fell in love with them back in the 90's when they first came out, they're just pricey. I'd get it with the standard trem rather than FR, only because I'm not a fan of double-locking trems. That said, I may have to pick up a Wolfgang, those finishes are to die for, and the price is great.
You know a lot of people don't play the Panama intro right. As a van Halen fan who practices this riff almost everyday, his playing gave me immense satisfaction. 🔥

Amazing and thank you for showing just how incredible the Standard series are this year. I owned a Made in China EVH Wolfgang Standard from I believe 2013 or 2014 and it was just lacking some mojo. I got rid of it after about six months. I picked up one of the late 2019 Exotic series Standards with baked maple freeboard over a year ago and noticed how much better these Indonesian built EVH Standards are, just incredible guitars at a great value.
That was some awesome playing there sir....my head was bobbing up and down....lol....I do own one of the older EVH Wolfgang Standards that came in the Zillaburst color and maple neck....my hats off to ya Jack....

I owned a Peavey Wolfgang I bought in late 90s that would later be stolen (and wouldn't you know, I'm still friends with the guy I'm certain who stole it - but we were stupid kids). I loved that guitar and while it was in near perfect condition, I had that thing well worn in for me. I just knew that neck so well. Then I later purchased a Peavey Wolfgang w/ rosewood, carved top as well, and it was a force. It was likely better than my previous Peavey, but I was so connected with that guitar. Anyway, I ended up having to sell that Peavey during the economic crisis and compared to what it's worth today, I practically sold it for nothing. It had one of the best pieces of rosewood on a neck that I've owned. So these new EVH Standards look great and I'm shocked at the price. $700 and it includes baked maple? That's a deal. I've been eyeing one of the Striped Series, either the 5150 or the Frank, but now I'm considering this Standard. I'm anxious to have that brown tone again. Right now I don't own any high output pickups or a floyd rose guitar. Van Halen's been on my mind quite a bit recently at the thought of possibly never seeing him tour again. My sister took me to Van Halen concerts in the 80s! I remember that first concert so vividly I can feel it. Because of my sister I saw I saw Joan Jett, ACDC, Pink Floyd. But I've seen VH many times. I was lucky as hell. Well, forgive the long comment here and nice vid! It's practically sold me on picking one up.

I am a legit telecaster player. I've played a tele for 4 decades (and sometimes a strat and I own a mustang). My first Wolfgang Standard was purchased the Saturday before the death of Eddie. I never really did many tricks with the guitar with the exception of the strat. I was always more of the subtle aspect of Jeff Becks playing in terms of tremolo use. The telecaster was my guitar when i studied 2 years of jazz guitar. I was 9 when i first heard Van Halen 1. Anyway, the standard i purchased was a tahiti night and a month later i bought a chlorine burst. They are both quite fun to play. I highly recommend loosening the nut after a good placement of the fine tuners of the guitar every once in a while. It allows better fine tuning over time that a string stretches. the guitars are great!!!!! Mine are quite light. both are definitely under 8 pounds but i have not precisely weighed them. they are lighter than other guitars i own and know the weights of. In 1995 I went to McGill and found a jam spot under the Hard Rock Cafe, Danny was the owner and had guitars signed and owned by artists and music memorabilia. I jammed with him a few times playing artists stratocasters off the wall . Danny had one of Eddie Van Halen's striped guitars that he got off Edward years before. One day we were jamming and I was playing rhythm on freebird and we both played the prominent solo (Danny) and the underlying lead tracks ( me). Danny took a cigarette break and for about 15 minutes I got to play Eddie Van Halens guitar. It was incredibly light and an absolute pleasure to play! Thanks Danny ! Wherever you are now.
I don't think people realize how good an Eddie Van Halen greatest hits, and then some, performance we all just watched. Very unexpected. Firstly, tone from Amp, Kemper settings, Strings & the new Fender EVH Wolfgang are really close in sound. Secondly, chromatic scale runs, bends, bombs, & tremelo picking...were impressive. And lastly, tempo, timing, & string plucking techique is stunningly accurate. Metronome anyone...So many Eddie homage players display the standards, but few showcase MJ collaborations...That made me smile. SOLD! 🎸🎶🎼🎵

Yer cookin dude. That was great :D I've owned a couple of Floyd guitars over the years but I have never liked the neck profiles. (USA Jackson Soloist lefties) Now that Eddie is gone I have been paying attention to these. I'm finding the neck profile of the EVH has more meat on it AND I am intrigued by the tuning stability of the non-recessed Floyd. To have command of the harmonics on the fretboard means I can definitely find ways to make screams without having to pull *up*. When I can get my hands on one that is lefty...I'm gonna do it. Thank you for this video. It was a pleasure to hear and watch you play.
I was never crazy about the flatter fretboard and scooped sound of the pickups but thats just me... I am a huge fan and had to get a peavey Wolfgang special anyway. Awesome for high gain modern rock.
The 2020 and 2021 are a little better to me, but that’s the big name brand way of doing things... put out amazing products the first few years to build reputation and then slowly start replacing parts with cheaper ones while raising the price.
What's the track starting at 5:08? That tune was playing in my head today and I'm glad that I was correctly able to recall this video and find that tune again. However, I was imagining a cleaner and warmer tone in my mind but still very close to this one. Which song is it? Thank you. Also I've been trying to mimic him and I realized that he plays 2nd fret of high strings but then jumps to higher frets of lower strings. I think it's better to start on the 7th fret of lower strings.
This dude slays man. The one thing I will say though is it really does go to show how much of the tone and sound is in the hands of the player cause even though this guy is an awesome player no doubt noone will ever make it sound just like eddie did. But steller job to this guy.

I really like the sound of this guitar, but there are two things that bother me, can you confirm these questions? 1) Small guitar size, can you tell me how many centimeters it measures from the tip of the headstock to the end of the body? 2) The arm looks very narrow, I would like a wider arm closer to a Lespaul pattern. thank you The width of Nut seems to me to be very narrow.

The neck and fretboard on this makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE to the older Standard line. I had a 2013 Wolfgang it was just... wasn't great. Intionation was meh and overall feel was lacking and last year I picked up a 2019 Exotic which was the first of the Standard line to feature the baked maple neck and I pick this guitar up daily! Intonation is spot-on and overall quality fit-and-finish seems much higher than my old Standard. If you tried Standard series in the past and weren't impressed it's worth your time to give one of these a try.

There's videos out there, side by side with a Les Paul it appears smaller but measured from nut to bridge the EVH is longer.
