I can be alone in any city of China without worrying safety issues. The fact that the environment in China is becoming better and better every second year I went back and visit. It’s weird, I feel like I appreciate being a Chinese more when I’m not in China.
I want to go to China. I'm just afraid that living in America's comparatively unadvanced society will take a toll on how I'll survive in countries such as China. They seem to be much more technology oriented, and their education seems to be far better and competitive. Acclimation seems hard.

And when the city was invaded by the Japanese army, Chiang Kai-shek retreated with his army and left the defense of the city to civilians armed only with work tools and farm implements! How many died? How many suffered? Hundreds and hundreds of thousands. Yet, Chongqing rose again, like the Phoenix from the ashes! What brave people! What a great city!!!

One simple answer...the western governments doesn't wanted their people's know about the modern China because their country (the west) going back ward but China is moving forward 🤔very fast!
I think that this is only part of the issue. Western governments are taking a long time to realize that their cultures are decaying, and they have a mentality that the West is the center of the everything. So China is sneaking up on them and there is nothing they can do.

it is hard to belive that a city that big is so clean, just shows you they are not as we were taught,[ filthy, dirty, poor] that looks like a booming city, how is this keept from the world? be blessed and safe
Chongqing is a very diverse city built on mountains. there'r very modern districts like shown in the video which is JIEFANGBEI and also very 80s district with graffiti s and u never know where ur or where' ur going because the entire city is pretty much a mountain
It is the media and politicians of the west kept the westerners from knowing the Today China. Kept you guys in the mind set of pre- yr 2000 China, one way to hide their inadequacy. A good Ostrich tactic by putting your head in the sand. China is far from perfect, but they are striving towards that.
Honestly, my image towards Chongqing's streets is not that good. When I first visited Chongqing a couple of years ago, I immediately thought that it's not very clean in the street, even in its most developed district with lots of tourist attractions. I'm not sure in your eyes, how clean is a city to be considered clean, but I definitely compared Chongqing with the city I came from which is relatively more organised and clean at least in the central districts. If you like a city to be messy, chaotic and spatially 3D (all in a good way), then I recommend this city.
Chongqing had been always a heavy industrial city and a military production place in SW of China and it (maybe all SW of China) is called the backgarden of China ... it was the capital of China during the Japanese and WWII and was not physically invaded at all by Japan...the mentality of the locals are different from the north / east coast’s of China (where experienced foreign harassment for centuries ) and you could say Chongqing or Sichuan or SW provinces are the true colours of ancient China...it’s why it has been secretly kept away from outside world, however, its political importance can be seen through the foreign government consulates set up in Chongqing...
Amazing. Chongqing was the wartime capital in 1940s when the Japanese invaded Shanghai and Beijing; they bombed the hell of this city and many many died. Now it is rebuilt to its glory. Thank you for letting me see this.
China still have many ways to improve ,many Chinese know that our country is a developing country and still have a long way to catch USA.But that does not mean we would look down upon ourselves ,China welcome any fair criticism but not slander.
Chinese don’t brag because we know that we’re not yet perfect, and the government still plans a lot to improve the rural areas, they are building bridges and transportation everywhere just to connect the whole China together, and that provides a lot of new jobs too. The problem in US is that they don’t invest on infrastructures, instead they pour all the money on Wall Street 🙂 they need to build a lot more so people will have jobs, also the cost of living for normal citizens will be lower.
Thank you for your report, Chinese people are kind and friendly, but the foreign media are always reporting negative content against China, and many of them are false, which is so sad.
ye most of my chinese friends in China thinks their country is the worst and tell me all countries did much better on the corona pandemic. me:wtf where did you get that info?! them:from the american and taiwan tv shows, they never lie.
Amazing 🥰Its so beautiful and clean there as you noted. I take my hat off to china I can't wait for part 2. Thank you Alex for these series of videos on China.
Chongqing is just one of the second-tier cities in China. There are actually many cities like Chongqing in China now, but because of the western media, most foreigners just know Shanghai, Beijing and Hongkong, which is a pity. The whole Chongqing is more like a province in China, not an ordinary city. The city-area of Chongqing has about 10 million people.
Fun to watch this! I lived and taught in Chongqing between 2017-2018. We're currently doing a China series ourselves right now. I didn't film much of Chongqing city center so it's really cool to see this all again. I recognize almost everything. Thanks for sharing :) I miss it!
They treat you nicely because 1st they don't see many foreigners there. 2nd, because they want to leave foreigners visiting their country with a nice memory. Just being hospitable. That is what most Chinese were taught when growing up. Treat other's elder and youngling as your own. Treat guests with manners. If you find even a penny by the road curb, give it to the police, etc. Of course, there are bad people in any country. So if you see anybody who is acting bad, please contact the police.
You know nothing about it dude. the reason way the guy handed them tea is because he is a stuff of the resturant behind him, and he is responsbile for greating passerbys and getting them in. Chinese scoeity is very complex I would say, which contains every element you would like to find, both positve and negative. In the end, how you see a foreign countiry actually reflects who are you.
Thank you for promoting my country objectively and impartially.China exists many problems, we humbly accept criticism from other countries based on the facts, such as environmental problems (in fact, we are also more and more attention to the protection of the environment), but in the western media, China has often been described as a hell on earth, most are fake news, it is difficult to see the positive reports about China.I can understand what the western media are doing, they have their own political goals. To a large extent, they cannot accept that a communist country can become rich and powerful. As a human being, Chinese people also have the right to live a life like that of western developed countries. For us, this is the greatest human right.Whatever the plans of all governments, I hope that people will get along with each other in peace and friendship, no matter what country they live in.After all, for most of us, politics is not our main concern. It's what we eat next!
I was there summer of 2008. Most amazing city in the world. Super modern, historically old, mountain green nature, giant underground caves, two major rivers converging. Immensely huge and beautiful!!!
Chongqing is known as "The City of Beauties". My late wife told me that the following is a very old saying about Chongqing: When a married man visits Chongqing for the first time he will ask himself, "Why did I marry so early?"
ChongQing is always my hometown even though I have been living in Toronto for 20 years since I left Chongqing as a child. It has developed itself from a third tier city in China to a modern city in just 20 years. Everytime I go back to Chongqing I get lost because of rapid expansion and new infrastructure. Best of all, the hot pot in ChongQing, it is an unique dining experience you will never forget :)
Welcome, bro. China will always there wait for you, and if you come I willing to be your personal tour guide with no charge. I'm still waiting for the flight back to China which is pretty disappointed now, I wish you all the best and have a nice experience in China! Cheers

I was there for a month in 2008. It is an AMAZING!! City absolutely amazing. This guy is 100% correct. Chongqing is one of the world’s most amazing cities (I’ve been LA, San Francisco, Seattle, NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, Lots of US cities, Berlin, Munich, Dresden, Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Mexico City, several Mexico cities, Beijing, Chengdu, Lanzhou, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok other cities in Thailand) Chongqing is in a category all its own. A wonder city

China is an amazing country full of colour and contrasts. i wish more westerners could be like Alex and his other mates he does a livestream with. I use to live in a western country and in 40 years of my life there, I have never ever received free tea or coffee from a random stranger. Instead i get a lot of leeches asking for cigarettes. Currently a lot of comments say Chinese are becoming racist to foreigners. If offering free tea is considered racist, I would love to live in this city
Chongqing is one of the biggest cities in southeast China and also is one of the municipalities just like Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin. ♥️ from Chongqing
thank you for introducing my hometown to everyone!! I born in CQ and studying in UK, I love my city and wish my city is well known to more visitors there are more cities than just Beijing, shanghai, Guangzhou. I would say kind people are everywhere, it does not matter which race, nationality, gender, or religion they believe, also Chinese culture tell ppl should welcome guests and treat them well and friendly. Recently I am very sad about how western media said about China, but I still wanna say, no country is perfect, if you are curious or unsure about something, go find it out by YOURSELF, do not just trust surface information from media. again thank you for the video!
I went to China 2 years ago, basically my mom decided to get our family to China for some fun, because she likes adventures, I went to Chongqing and DAMN it was fucking beautiful, I will be damned honest with you, if it werent for I cant speak Chinese, I'd live in Chongqing over Paris, London andNew York.
Oh, thank you bro. I’m actually from Chongqing(Chungking), now I’m doing my degree in Singapore, I miss my hometown almost very day! Tonight I watched your video and sooooo happy. Thanks for you and your video.
Last year I went to Chongqing for the first time and spent 2 days in there. I have to say that even for me as a Chinese mainlander, Chongqing is really a surprising place. It absolutely deserves a larger reputation like the other first-tier cities in China such as Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Had you been to the neighboring Chengdu city, you might see a lot more foreigners there. It is just as massive as Chongqing, but also distinctly different.
Many Westerners 'understanding of China is still in the Cold War era when East and West confronted decades ago. The values and ideologies of Western society determine the Westerners' impression of China's engraving. Secondly, the US and Western governments and media are not unaware of China ’s rapid development over the past 40 years, but China ’s rapid rise has made them feel pressured and psychologically unbalanced, because this has completely subverted their values and they cannot accept it. A Communist Party-led China can achieve such amazing achievements.

I don't care what people say China's development is staggering from what I witnessed and experienced. And I only traveled from Guangzhou to Beijing with Zhujiajiao water town near Shanghai. So many mini metropolises along the way that were highly developed and I didn't even know where the heck we were on the train lol. Such nice and welcoming people willing to help. Even if they didn't know english they all bust out this handheld translation device you speak into, amazing. Not so amazing still is the pollution and water quality, but relatively safe wherever I went. Plus China continues to have epic mega projects for environmentally friendly development that has drastically cut down pollution levels, or a high speed rail right to the great wall, which is to be completed this year actually. Not to mention the millions of people they've brought out of rural areas and into cities. Their high speed rail system all throughout the country is phenomenal btw, think Japan Shinkansen or the Eurail. Everything is state of the art. But you really see a country still in development. I was also like a celebrity there and my buddy and I had a bunch of picture requests with people, and people genuinely curious about folks outside of their sort of bubble. I say that because yes, they have Bing, WeChat, etc. but it's like a country still trying to find their own voice yet remain as one. That's monocultures folks. Btw you should see/experience Pizza Hut and KFC out there. Not like ours at all! Think a full-fledged Boston Pizza with added Chinese menu options, it's nuts! Thank for this video :)
Thank you for these videos. As a Chinese American constantly seeing anti-China commentary coming from the President, media, and people its been very depressing. Its nice to see something positive about China for once. Chongching is beauitful

Go take the 1h 15 min train journey to the 400 km away neighbor city of Chongqing, Chengdu. It is more fascinating than Chongqing in case of development, because really NOBODY knows that city. I went there in autumn 2019 and I was shocked what I saw. The capital of a mountain province where literally nobody lives between the cities, is clean, modern and HUGE! I always thought that this city in the middle of nowhere is a poor and dirty city like in Central Africa, but I was wrong, really wrong. It was a 100 times better than my home city of Frankfurt, Germany.
There is an old saying said by Confucius: 有朋自远方来,不亦乐乎. It means Isn't it pleasant to have friends come from afar? This kind of culture deeply impact on Chinese people, so they very welcome those tourists who visit their city. Especially like you guys, the few foreigners they could meet. This is why people you meet in China are so hospitable. BTW, CHONGQING is called city of mountain in China. The whole city was built on mountains.

There is a misconception that only China's coastal cities are developed and that all the interior cities are lagging behind and are without infrastructures or electricity. Thank you for showing this other part of China.
Right, but people must be extremely dumb to think that any city in China would have no electricity. If I am not mistaken, most people in the world (much more than 50%) have it
There is impressive infrastructure all over China. I remember a biker who crossed from Mongolia to China in the early 2000s. He noticed, that the petrol stations in China had a much higher service and security standard like in OECD countries. Still, I hope that Mongolia, which also had amazing economic growth following China, will also be a modern country with good infrastructure. As they became the world's second socialist state in 1922, they maybe also see the priority for good infrastructure throughout rural areas

it is hard to belive that a city that big is so clean, just shows you they are not as we were taught,[ filthy, dirty, poor] that looks like a booming city, how is this keept from the world? be blessed and safe
@Jari Lahdenpera Suomalainen?
Westerners think China is dirty but it's the cleanest country I've been to. Coming back to America is like I'm entering a third world country.

@J KAYLA Too many homeless, needles and shit on the roads
@J KAYLA I don't like homeless people on the road.Is that true. That is not good.
Thank you for your report, Chinese people are kind and friendly, but the foreign media are always reporting negative content against China, and many of them are false, which is so sad.

Province’s capital city mostly is large size in china.
CQ is special. It’s 4D n very impressive!
Chongqing leads it on the 2nd tier list.
Which is more developed? Chongqing or Chengdu? And why did they separate Chongqing from Sichuan?
@@Amidat chengdu is capital of a province while chongqing is more important as a city-province both politically and economically.

Robert Tc dude why do you believe the worst in people. is it because of your own personal experience?i feel sorry for you.
As a Chinese, I should say, these comments are not biased (too much). But it's real that the way to see a country reflects something. Considering BBC.

The values and ideologies of Western society determine
the Westerners' impression of China's engraving.

In Germany, its not better. Many turkish people i know here are used bully chinese and claim shit about them. My friend always got bullied by his classmates. They said he would eat dog meat. But when it came up to a nazi german, they stood up for "no to racism"...
Breathtakingly beautiful!
Thank you for these videos. As a Chinese American constantly seeing anti-China commentary coming from the President, media, and people its been very depressing. Its nice to see something positive about China for once.
