It's very true. American fast food (I.E. McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, etc) are way better in other countries. Not only is the food quality better, but even the customer service. It's on the level of Chick Fil A's service, and sometimes better. Even the interior has an upscale feel and look compared to American locations. Same thing how 7-11 in Asian countries are way better.

They had time to experiment long term. Thousands of years of writing and tens of thousands of years of civilization.

Variety can be how you cook the food, culinary skills, rather than the number of different types of meats and fruits. Sometimes that variety results in a lack of cooking skills. Although that sounds like abundance and increased standards of living, it actually reduces our overall knowledge and skill on growing food, nutrition, and cooking with what’s available.
