I seen Andy in the Mililani McDonalds one day in the early 80's and my aunty asked him if I could get his autograph, cause I was all shame. I still remember he wrote: "Eh, you da guy?! Andy Bumatai". I loved this and All in the Ohana but my dad was a Raps fan.
I saw this once in 1979 when I was temporarily living in Honolulu (Hawaii Kai). I was living in the Village Green condo complex next to Hahaʻione Elementary School. So Andy also took notice of the girl with the big green glasses. I was like who is she and where did she get those glasses? My little brother was watching it with me and it was his first experience with the Pidgin English phrase “rubaneck!”
My little brother and I got to see him a few times live in the 80s. He was so funny, actually he is still funny. My brother knew his routines by heart. We love Bumatai in our household.
Ah, da memories! In the olden days of the 50s and the 60s at Stevenson JHS and Roosevelt HS, in Honolulu. Da last class on Fridays, the students would do a deep cleaning of da classroom and outside corridor. Only one Custodian each school to take care of everything else in dos days!!! Almost forgot da Home Room week of Cafeteria Duty wit da free lunch all week!!! Oh, and da Army Surplus food trays...
Hail To Thee O Waianae! This makes me wanna cry. I wanted to graduate from Waianae High School, but I moved out to Moanalua too Early. F***in hated that school. Waianae was more loving.

Andy's description of going clothes shopping with your dad sounds like how we should approach going shopping during the current pandemic. ;)
