This is probably the clearest, most accurate and useful car repair video I have ever watched. I just changed my two brake light bulbs in about 15 minutes!
It's 2023 and it's the first time I've had to replace a bulb on our 2013 Outback. 10 years, so not bad! Thank you for the vid, you just saved us a few hundred dollars at the shop 😀. The key was being shown how to pop off the light cover, I never would have had the guts to try that myself without being shown first. I would have tried prying the thing straight out and ended up breaking all the clips.
Great video! the 10mm socket wrench tip made it a smooth replacement when the phillips' failed to loosen the machined in screw! First time replacement of the brake lights after 11 years, 92K miles!! Thanks!
Thank you SO much! I just changed my hubby’s taillight ( I’m the mechanical one 😉) in about 5 minutes! I appreciate your clear video! It was easy, following your video. Thank you again!
This video was perfect. To the point and exactly what I needed to know to get the job done. I often come across videos to instruct me in this or that that are easily twice as long as needed and for whatever reason that gets on my nerves. So thank you for making the perfect video!
Excellent video. Thank you! The only thing I would add is that the reason you handle the new bulb with gloves is that you do not want to get any oil from your skin or other grease on the bulb as it can cause it to heat up and crack or otherwise fail prematurely.
Sometimes the light may not be actually burned out. The electrical connections may just become oxidized. I have applied some electrical connection antioxidant paste (just a very small dab) on the bulb terminals of both of my rear turn signal bulbs and restored their function.
Thank you so much!!! My right light went out so I replaced both of them. It took me less then 10 minutes. I put in LED"S which I hope will last longer. I really liked how you demonstrated hitting the light just right, worked great for me!
Everyone is telling me that a scan at the garage needs to be done to finalise this. You can't just change the lightbulb...but the comments tell me otherwise.
What is it with Subarus and light bulbs? In less than 2 years of owning an Outback I've replaced 4 bulbs. I also like to spray rust inhibitor into the car any time I have trim pieces removed.
I've had the same experience - multiple light bulbs needing replacement in the first few years of ownership. I started to think that maybe the dealership where I get my car serviced was being dishonest, but I guess this is a problem with Subarus.
Just leave all the screws out for when you have to replace them again in a week. I dunno what it is with Subaru, they make a great car but have no idea about how to produce a competent electrical system.

Excellent! Why couldn't the headlights be this easy?
Replacing the headlights sux so bad!
@@mtbikemikel That's putting it mildly double O seven!
Right???!!! I've yet to replace my headlights without getting angry 😤
Thanks a million dude! Way easier than the headlights. In fact, whoever approved the headlight design should be fired!!!!!

Thank you so much! You saved me $113 and it took less than 10 minutes. Bulb cost me $2.
Because I'm so OCD, yours is the third video I watched on how to install new brake lights on my Outback. Yours is definitely the best. Cheers.
This was AMAZING for me learning how to fix my burned brake in my 2014. I've had a license for 5 months, so this was my first time
The most efficient, how to video ive ever seen. thank you

Excellant. Clear, concise instructions with great video and the captions are spot on.
Thank you!! Excellent video. Great help, very easy to follow. Worked perfectly for my 2011 Outback.
This was terrifically helpful. Thank you. The headlights are a while other story. What a nightmare!

Thank you! Checking in with 92000 miles on my Outback.
124 k lol
Thank you. Exactly what was done on my 2011. Feel like an expert now. Thanks again.
What a great video! Extremely easy and clear! Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Super helpful. You’re a class act.
Thank you for sharing! Saved a ton of money by fixing my own brake lights and it really wasn't event that hard.
Easy instructions, just fixed the tail light. Thanks!
Thank you! Perfect instructions. My top screw nearly stripped out like yours even 😂
Great Video! First time changing my brake light went easy, thanks
Thank you so much. Your video was easy to follow.
thank you so much. Down to the point, kept it fast and easy!
Thank you so much, this helped me tremendously!!!
Thanks so much, that was really easy. Ironically, I too had to use a socket wrench on one of the two bolts :)

Scan for what❓
amazing video, helpful, simple and I was able to replace as well. thanks!
Plain and simple. Thank you. Thumbs up.
Thanks so much! This made things so much easier for me. :) Great job.
Beautiful video! Thanks for the help
This was perfect - thank you!
you're the MVP 😊

Great video, very helpful thank you!
Helped me, thx😊
I wish the headlights were this easy!
Cool, now i also know how to do the tail light and back-up light. Lol
Beautiful. Thank you.
Easy-Peasy. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing!
I guess I'm lucky! 116,000 miles on my 2014 Outback, first bulb just went out.
Same! 123k on my 2012 and fist bulb went bye.... sadly had a cop tell me that because I didn’t notice
Very helpful, thank you!
Thank you! Job done.
Excellent. Thanks.
Thank you for your video!‼️My 13 outback also eats bulbs like crazy! Worse than any other car I’ve ever owned. Anybody have any ideas why this❓😳
Thanks for video
Beware... those little plastic "screws" are more like tabs. I loosened a quarter turn then wedged screw driver behind to pop out - they broke.
Yep, I just did the exact same thing! At least one is still intact
Dielectric grease on the contact points and not touching the bulb with your hands ( wearing gloves or use paper towel will prolong bulb life.
Thanks!!
Thank you!!
Thank you!
Thank You
NOTHING like this for my 2002. No cover, no screws, just a huge lens that will not come off or out. Any suggestions?
helpful. thanx.
Just leave all the screws out for when you have to replace them again in a week. I dunno what it is with Subaru, they make a great car but have no idea about how to produce a competent electrical system.
Bingo. I totally agree‼️
Every video I find is just replacing the bulbs. I need to replace the entire assembly including the electric
Can;t find anyone who knows how to change the backup light. Mine don't just snap out...
Or use a 10mm socket
Now if your videos could just make changing the headlights just as easy. Geezus, amirite?!?!
Thanks!!
