    I always liked this show. The first episode was very well done. Michael Long being wronged and coming back as Michael Knight to fight and help people in need . Then, the introduction of K.I.T.T., this was the perfect episode to start the series. A tv show ahead of its time.

    That's what has kept me alive since my parents' tragic deaths eight years ago. I was suicidal and I couldn't go on. The L-rd told me, in the words of Mr. Knight, "You were spared to lead a great fight" (against evil): Use it as your baptism by fire". Thanks Knight Rider. I love you@

    They picked the perfect person physically to play michael long you actually believe he could look like hasselhoff after face reconstruction surgery. I think that was hasselhoff in shadow when he was talking to tanya. You also can hear the difference in K.I.T.Ts voice from grainy to normal. A simple 2-parter for a trailbreaking series.

    • @StormsparkPegasus
      @StormsparkPegasus ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think Larry Anderson was more famous than Hasselhoff at the time (Hasselhoff was much less known) and his scenes probably cost more, which is why they used Hasselhoff in shadow during that scene. But yes you are correct, that was definitely Hasselhoff, that's why they put his face in shadow.

    • @rickastley2308
      @rickastley2308 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StormsparkPegasus they filmed this scene (with Hasselhoff in shadow) before Larry Anderson was involved. There was a short 'demo' version of the pilot for the network and after approval they filmed the other part. You can see the different early design of KITT in some scenes. These scenes were also filmed for the demo.

      Also the fear of having the power to make his own decisions being potentially taken away from him. It’s tragically hilarious that nobody can seem to really get a reboot off the ground because a lot of the dramatic and cinematic potential is all right there in the pilot.

    The most mysterious thing is the fact that Wilton Knight used the same Michael Long's car making you think that the foundation worked either on Michael's face and on his car. Only in "Knightmares" episode maybe, it is said that the Long's car was found abandoned in the Nevada's desert. Aniway I've always found this coincidence very strange. Obviously imho and with all due respect.

      It was one of the Pontiac T tops the producers bought a total of 5 in all for the show.
      They had 2 looking like KITT when the pilot episode was made. The one that was used and Michael Long’s car, was one of 3 they hadn’t converted yet.

    • @The2Coolest2
      @The2Coolest2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They didn't use his car. Devon literally says in this episode it's not his car. It makes no sense plot wise, because KARR was already developed, so they were already using the model. Don't really care for what's said for down the line, the story becomes convoluted and plot holes, the pilot and S1 is most cannon for me.

      Not only that, already in Knight of the Phoenix Devon says it's a different car. 'Any resemblance, between this car and yours, is strictly superficial.'
      Imho, it was unnecessary that Long had the ''same'' car. It would have made more sense if Long had some common police car, eg. Dodge Monaco, and Trans Am was only shown in the background, perhaps as a hint how they found Michael in the desert- KITT tested in the area.
      These days I'd use CGI and deepfake algorithm to correct a lot of details in this show.

    • @The2Coolest2
      @The2Coolest2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@piotrmalewski8178 Yeah, here the above comment makes sense with your point on why they had long drive a trans am. I know they had to quickly bring up some scenes to NBC to green light production so maybe they really only had these 5 cars to use, and using someone's Toyota was out of the question for an undercover car.

    A sentence we are likely to get to hear very much and very often in the near future. Way too many products these days "know better" than their users...

    • @becausebuzzbomb6133
      @becausebuzzbomb6133 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@apveening Yeah, that's a good point. From that perspective, KITT couldn't have done anything differently. And I don't think there's anything wrong about Asimov's understanding of his own rules. But if I remember correctly, Asimov had in mind robots that are fully autonomous. KITT isn't, he can be driven by a human. Computers definitely aren't, there is (as of yet) no point in their existence without user input.
      If we are talking about intelligent tools, it's a much complex question of whether the will of an AI should overrule the will of a human, for good or ill. If we limit the behavior of machines themselves, fine by me (the question of machines being sentient and alive is put aside for now). But limiting the behavior of people through them is a dangerous path, no matter how noble the original idea is.
      And, of course, we are happily building intelligent machines with no regards to human life. The American military is probably the worst offender ever in this regard.

    Do you guys realize that while language models like Bing, ChatGPT or Bard still have their significant flaws and require massive computing power, we got a noticeable and significant step closer to KITT? It would be amazing if at the 50th anniversary of Knight Rider, a screen accurate Trans Am was shown, featuring a real-time generative language model - preferably right onboard the car, but acceptable if it had to have an internet connection.
    I guess no one would go through the trouble and expenses, but it would be supercool nonetheless.
