      @Xd Its boring in the winter, summers are hella fun, everyones outside, stampede, girls in shorts, banff is overpacked with tourists etc. Ive been to Toronto and Vancouver as well and In my opinion most Canadian cities are very depressing in terms of fun and vibrancy compared to Europe particularly during winter. Calgarys downtown isn't as fun as Vancouver or Toronto, its very business oriented, you need go there before 4pm for fun and then to the Beltline after 5pm.

    Thank you so much for this video! I am from Europe and I'll travel to Calgary. I am reading the driver's guide from Alberta and your video is an amazing tool to learn with. In my country we cannot turn left on red light. At 23:15 in your video you turn left on red light from 9 Ave SW to 2nd SW. I saw that 9th is one way but I didn't see that 2nd is also a one way street. I had to go to Google Maps :))

    • @garyzhang5099
      @garyzhang5099 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Catalin Rizea that’s because in Canada you can turn left from one way to another one way street. But definitely need to let pedestrians go first. The traffic in Calgary city center is confusing, blurry and small signs and load of one way street. They somehow love the idea of one way street, and made something like 5 lanes one way street, which is dangerous when you join the traffic from right side but need a left turn at the next cross section, plus, during the winter time everyone drives their big truck super fast, it is scary to cross 4 lanes and go to the left side of the road in order to not miss the left turn.

    • @Vancovermycity
      @Vancovermycity 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Wang Calgary is praised for being a clean city but like i said you guys need tourist attractions. The cities wayyy better spread out than Vancouver and is easier to drive in than here. Calgary also has more taller skyscrapers and better looking ones then alot of cities. It just needs good clubs downtown and some district like new yorks time square type of thing. Add in some huge theme parks and view points etc and this city would be one of the lost beautiful ones in the world.

      In Calgary there is a massive above ground indoor pedestrian walkway called the plus 15 which connects the entire downtown. Most people are off the cold streets using that walkway which is bustling with people. Also , the pedestrian street scape Stephen avenue is bustling with people .

      Canadian cities and towns generally have a much lower population density than European equivalents and you need to have a car to get around.
      So not only are there fewer people on the streets, you're less likely to come across them.

    • @brentos96
      @brentos96 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Calgary's downtown also has one of the largest elevated walk-ways in the world, that connect a lot of the buildings, which is especially helpful in the winter, so you can easily walk from one end of the downtown to the other, without stepping outside.
      It's called the plus-15, because most of the bridge walkways are approximately 15 feet above the ground.
      it's length is 18 kilometres (11 miles), and has 62 bridges connecting building to building.
      Really helps keep the streets clean, and easier to drive, and you feel safer (and dryer) walking indoors.

    Is this a good city to move if now I'm living in Mexico city? I would like to work there.

    • @johnwang9914
      @johnwang9914 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's tiny compared to Mexico City and you would only find over priced tacos and burritos for Mexican food. Costs of living are high and right now so is unemployment though historically it's been the place to go for employment. That also means few people actually grew up here so it's not quite as friendly as it once was especially to visible minorities. Beautiful city and the nearby Rockies are fantastic but be prepared, it's a hothouse for right wing extremism and nativism right now and even in the distant past as the KKK was once very prevalent.

      @@johnwang9914 how about programming jobs in calgary?is that skill in demand there or should i choose toronto?

    • @johnwang9914
      @johnwang9914 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yugendran9167 Calgary is a mixed bag for programming. Back before the tarsands boom of the 90's and 2000's, there was a significant emphasis on seismic exploration hence computers, system administration, operations and computer programming. Since the tarsands went commercial, there hasn't been the same emphasis on exploration so the jobs that grew through the tarsands tended to be construction and driving not the professional jobs such as geophysicists and programming. The University of Calgary has always had a focus on computer graphics and there is a video game company that has a studio in Calgary. There's also company that made it's mark by making smart displays for education such as dry marker boards that can capture what was marked on the board etc. There used to be a lot of telecommunication development during the 80's but those companies all went bankrupt in the 90's. The oil industry also gave Calgary a core of SCADA programming but I don't think there has been a lot of growth in that after the 90's and really a lot of that creativity with serial communication lines would've been replaced with wireless Ethernet so less expertise would be required today. Calgary is a nice place to live and there are computer orientated jobs but there simply isn't enough diversity for my liking. I would say there are programming jobs but they rely too much on the oil industry to be a stable industry. Also, the current Conservative provincial government terminated all the assistance to high tech companies that the previous NDP government offered, the focus of the Conservatives is now with investing in technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the oil industry. Basically they've changed programs that were focused on diversification to programs that reward the large companies that they choose to reward hence kickbacks to their financial supporters. They also did this to the carbon tax concept. The idea of a carbon tax us to redistribute the funds to the consumers evenly so the consumers are rewarded if they conserve their carbon emissions but are penalyzed if they don't, the Conservatives replaced the tax with a carbon levy on industry which is less visible to the consumers and the rewards benefit the companies of their choosing. Since the re-election of the Federal Liberals albeit as a minority government, the provincial conservatives have reintroduced a carbon tax which again rewards the large companies of their choosing. Basically the Conservatives replaced the carbon tax with two programs which reward the large companies that back them and sold it to the public as doing away with the NDP carbon tax and blaming the federal government for their need to introduce the second program which openly taxed the consumer directly but again only rewards the companies of their choosing. As usual the rah rah sport fan mentality of their supporters are just eating it up and even forming a divisionist movement weexit to express their anger that was so readily focused. Once again, the Albertans have told the Conservatives, you can rape us so long as you don't tell us you're doing so.
