- The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is already one of the best EVs on the market. It's comfortable, it's practical, it looks great, and with 320 horsepower it's pretty quick, too. But, pretty quick isn't quick enough for some folks, and if that's you, Hyundai has a solution.l Meet the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. That extra letter means twice the power, 641 to be exact, plus countless suspension and chassis upgrades that make this an absolute lunatic.

Hyundai is stepping up their EV game big time. This is a game changer!
I test drove 5N. I would consider buying it. One can experience supercar ICEV with less lagging time. It means I can experience what it feels like to be a fighter jetter with Mach speed. Oh and one can tow children and family on weekends to go to Costco or supermarket/supershopping. LOL
It's a car that's hard to tell just from the video. N-eShift is such a great feature that it can be mistaken for an internal combustion engine vehicle. You cannot know it without experiencing it, and it cannot be explained in words.
awesome anchor, love his energy
So glad all the tech media outlets are pulling their weight with way better content than the verge. Great job
There is no other sports car that is faster, bigger, AND cheaper than 5N. It is the first electric sports car ever made in human history
lol
Calm down there boy. 😂
mach e gt: Am I a joke to you??
What about the Kia ev6 gt?
@@mcslender2965 The KIA EV6 GT is a brilliant EV sports car for the road, but on a track, my guess is that the Ioniq 5 N will blow its socks off. The EV6 GT is designed for the road and is a GT car, while the Ioniq 5 N is tailored for the track, excelling in that environment.
😊
I think Hyundai made this car to gather information/data to make hyper-car. Ioniq5n's concept will evolve into Vision74 or Genesis hyper car.
double thumbs-up to the new presenter. 👍👍🏻
I bet if he works hard enough he'll be the editor in chief there some day.
They've added a rear windshield wiper!
Nice to see you again!
They put out commercials explaining how to pronounce it properly but even the pros still don’t do it
Fantastic
A rear wiper? At those speeds, how would anything get on the rear window?!
Whats the lateral g force in a turn does it deliver?
Whats the laptime on a track ?
Whats the 0-62 time and 0- 120?
Its a track car soo why is it every review lacks this information?
🤷🤷🤷I DONT GET IT !!!!!!!!!

Having "contributor" under Tim feels wrong, im not saying it needs to be "Former EIC" but like, something better
…do a head on between the N and the 3 performance….i think Tesla has already done a comparison and thusly releasing a ‘ludicrous’ update for the 3…
Didn't NHTSA force Tesla to get rid of their external sounds while driving because it's a hazard? What's the difference here? I'm not talking about the reverse sound.
That is because the government is trying to take down Musk but it is OK for other car manufactures.
It’s pronounced Hyun-day, like Sunday
Bottom line; 0 to 60? No mention? Fail.

until you have to replace the battery after 6 years and they want $50,000 CAD lol
citation?
@@theworstbenHe doesn’t know what he’s talking about. A unscrupulous dealer quoted that price. Hyundai corporate offered a replacement that was a fraction of that price.
Is it really just a Kia EV6 GT in the Ioniq body though?
Did you not pay attention? It’s a whole different animal.
why did they put a big nasty ass grill on it when it doesn't need any airflow? I got a problem when electric cars try to pretend they use a gas engine by adding air vents and goofy engine sound effects because it's supposedly "cooler".
The car actually needs that much airflow, there is reason why it can outpace tesla or taycan. The system still generates heat with a performance that track demands.
Instead of fake engine noises why not add a trumpet playing something rousing. ta-da-da-la-te-da! Charge!
Adding ICE motor noises to an EV is as bad as adding fake shift points to a CVT.
A meaningless testicle-tickler.
You’re so wise for a numb nut who’s never driven the 5N.
Honestly it seems much less impressive in this review
Yeah, I didn’t get the sense Tim was utterly convinced this cat was all that. Will have to watch more reviews.
Great car, but it weights 2200 kg, plays fake engine noise and replacing the battery costs 50k ..
Again you’re ignorant. That battery price isn’t true. Hyundai corporate offered replacement at a small fraction of that price.
So it weights 2t? According to track time reviews, the systems are good to make it feel like 1.7 - 1.8t car. It is a SUV sized sports car, never seen weight comments on something like peformance x5, people accept it is a massive car.
Fake engine is optional like the rest of many different options. And the battery comment is bonkers.
It has a massive battery so yeah, it's heavy. No brainer. Has a fake engine noise? You can always turn it off if you want to. Battery cost 50K? Your dealer is ripping you off, not Hyundai. You can see the inconsistencies. I got mine for $56K, so that is so, battery already cost $50K while the rest is 6K.
Hyundai, it has to be said wth happened to the brand's affordable, efficient and accessible Ioniq? A racing N version of that would be fun, but it's discontinued...
It's a worrying sign that Hyundai a brand known for its entry level leadership has been over focusing on a premium selection of EVs while leaving a vacuum for Chinese EVs to capitalize.
But they had to delete the highly efficient and practical Ioniq hatch because the KIA Niro, EV9, the less practical Kona and TM3 "killer" Ioniq 5 and 6 are more profitable.
It's an industry trend that will end in disaster
Couldn't agree more. I have a 2020 Ioniq EV on a lease package for only $145/month. Even without rebates it's still massively cheaper than these 60k+ vehicles.
I love my ioniq 5. Got it instead of Tesla. It is pricey though.
Turn off the ridiculous fake engine noise, so juvenile Nintendo crap.
I can image fake engine noise in 50 years when no one will remember ICEs. Also, will anyone buying an electric car even care about ICE sounds? Wasted engineering.
If you watched video, it was mentioned that the only real use case is track feel while on track, outside of that situation it is an interesting gimmic to do whatever you please to do with it. Have it off or on
You can turn it off if you want to. It's just an added feature that some preferred. I have an ioniq 5 but has no engine sound feature like this. I wish mine has one.

Bz4X ?? 🤣
Yourself?
I want my internet bytes back.

Like all of these cars it will fail. Too expensive not enough resources. Built on poor people mining the minerals. Takes years to offset the carbon. Terrible resale value. There is no recycling of the batteries. Will need coal to remanufacture them. They never mention the worst pollution from vehicles it tyre dust going into our lungs. These cars are heavy so make more of it. They will damage the roads more. Think I will stick with my ranger. Did Henry Ford need his vehicles subsidised? Any good tech the masses will buy them.
I guess it is hell if you drive a gas powered car and hell if you do drive an electric vehicle. On a serious note the US doesn’t have an efficient & cheap public transportation system due to its size and spread of its cities once you leave the eastern corridor.
Since people need to drive in many of the areas in this country, what is the least offensive form of transport that still allows people to commute that would placate your unrealistic views outside of hydrogen powered vehicles or biking?
There is recycling of the batteries.
Half of the total vehicles in Sweden and Norway are already EV's and plans on making it 100% in the near future since they developed wireless charging on roads, meaning, you can charge the vehicle while driving it, on the road, wirelessly. Cheaper EV and smaller batteries. Haven't heard from them complaining about it so far.
Very nice
still saying Hyun DIE?? come on tim.
