You only wrap it to give the salicylic acid powder a chance to stay in contact with an infected site long enough for it to do its work. The spirochetes that cause infections are anaerobic bacteria; exposure to open air (oxygen) kills the bacteria. Wrapping the hoof without giving it some kind of topical treatment could actually create an environment where bacteria could get a foothold (sorry) and cause infection. What Craigie was talking about when he said he skipped something that Graham might have done, my guess, is that he didn’t spray the first hoof with iodine.

Craig is always working in the shadow and to hear is voice with confidence is like fresh air for the channel. GP is the face of the channel for sure and personally, I'd love to see more of Craig taking the lead once in a while. :)

It breaks my heart when seeing one of the cows in pain like this, but at the end I am so happy to see you guys are able to help relieve the pain and help them on the road to recovery. The cow farmers there are very lucky to have hoof trimmers like you guys caring after their cows.
@@ExcelInstructor Very unlikely. There would likely be a load of untreated issues since these cows develop this on grass and solid ground. How would them being wild help that? Furthermore there would be no regular trims so there would likely be MORE issues rather than less.

what saddens me the most is the fact that if the cows were wild probobly there would be 80% less of such issues :(
