Every time I enter a shrine and realize it’s a motion control one I internally scream and vow vengeance on the designer.

I ended up searching on TH-cam how to solve it ‘cause i was about to have a mental breakdown while trying to do it by myself.
Yeah that one was rough but after taking a break for 2 days and trying again it ended up being simple doing it with an empty brain

I literally just sat for 2 and a half hours trying to do that shrine today. Almost pissed myself when the platform started glowing
I love how at the end of a shrine, the Monks don't say anything along the lines of "good jobsolving the puzzle" but instead, they congratulate your "resourcefullness"
Almost like the people who designed the shrines knew that we'd find an easier way to beat it.

@@verarogue477 it's real name is bomb impact launch, but it is where you go into bullet time while precisely dropping 2 bombs, and the explosion from one bomb throws the second bomb into you, launching you super far. (If you want to actually do this, I would search it up cause I'm bad at explaining things
I hate going into a shrine only to find out I need arrows and have none

The hardest shrines are some of the ones hidden well enough where you're given the Spirit Orb for finding it.
I think the hardest shrine in breath of the wild is the one in the mountains where you have to use a snowball to get in and it's really hard because everywhere your shrine sensor is beeping and you can't find it because it's stupid in the mountain.
I spent so long on that only to find someone post a video of them using stasis to open the door with a small snowball
It took me way too long to get into that one. I couldn't get the ice blocks lined in the hole right to create a bridge and had to keep leaving and go back for more large snowballs to spawn.
I didn't know about it and thought ut was a sheildsurfing area (i had my sensor set on naydra) and saw the big snowball and used stasis and sent it flying just for fun and then i saw the shrine behind the doors and realized what i had done lol

I remember finding this shrine, I had already completed the game, such a fun challenge, I’m pretty sure I looked it up though
Being a completionist, Mirro Shaz is by far the hardest shrine. Trying to get that damn ball in the hole on the second course was absolutely infuriating.
And then finding out all you get for it is a Giant Ancient Core is even more infuriating.
Wasting half your weapons is the worst part

@@saltystrudel9997 I did it thrice as well: when I played for the very first time, when I got a replacement Switch and lost my original save data, and when I played Master Mode for the first time.
I am fourteen off! I got the game on Aug 16 of last year, so wish me luck with my last few!
Update! Finished the eventide island quest! I'm gonna wait for my mom to get home to do the shrine!
Maybe not the hardest but definitely frustrating, but the shrines where you tilt your joy cons/switch to get a ball through a maze. Or to make a path for something else to go through.
Flip your controller upside down. Turns the entire maze upside down and you've got a flat surface to roll the ball on.

@@zekstrskis or, just windbomb. But the hateno village shrine even with motion controls is easy af. as long as you play docked. Handheld motion controls are a whole different level of pain

I loved that Death Mountain shrine tho. It was super fun. Felt like part of a full dungeon
that blue flame one is definitely hard but also a really fun challenge, felt like a legit puzzle
The hardest one was Eventide Island. But it was definitely the most fun. Having everything taken away and then you have to find a way to get the ball from around the Hinox neck to complete the shrine.
Keo Ruug is probably my favorite because of how it uses these minimal decorations to the puzzle! I want more shrines like this!

Not that I hate subtle hints, but for me personally the hint they give is far too subtle. Even if they changed the wording on the sign a bit it would’ve been better. The puzzle for me was impossible to figure out without looking it up.
I mean in general I agree I want more puzzle shrines but not ones that are going to be that confusing. Here’s how I would fix Keo Ruug:
Before going into the main chamber there’s a small puzzle before it with two symbols. The symbols are lined up on a wall close by. This way you don’t even need the sign.
To make the main chamber a bit more challenging, four symbols, but they’re scattered on different walls. And when it comes to orb placement, there is one symbol that is incredibly similar to another, so you have to observe them closely.
Same chest puzzle but the symbols are inside the room with the chest instead of outside. Bonus room after the monk with 8 seperate symbols just for fun.
This way you get increasingly complex puzzles that challenge the mind but also teach you at the same time instead of just leaving you blindfolded in a dark room. Although honestly I came up with this on the spot, so there could very well be flaws with it.
It was pretty easy for me because I immediately knew what to do. Just use common sense and it is easy!

i solved this one today in like 20 seconds 😭 you just count the number of constellations on the wall

If you don’t immediately notice the wall decorations like me then you just spend time staring into the night sky for clues

I forget what the shrine was called but it was the one in the dlc that had all the spikes, I failed over, and over, and over on that shrine
That shrine one-hit-obliterated my sanity

Yes!!! The Korok Forest shrine was the last one I completed because I just had no idea how to do it. I eventually just saw a clip of someone who figured it out immediately and I felt like an idiot. Given the hint about “looking at the stars”, I assumed I literally had to exit the shrine, stare up at the night sky and look for something.
I do hope we get more abstract puzzles like these in TOTK though, the head scratchers are always more memorable!
The one by Death Mountain I completed on my first try. Once you get to the part with the 3 or 4 mini guardians, just go kill them first and then bring the flame
I could never get all the torches lit at the end so id give up on it and its the only shrine i've never solved lol

I absolutely HATE the shrine where you need to fly with a korok leaf and avoid all of those spiky balls
I restarted that spike section so many times I simply went numb.
In the the death mountain "pass the torch" shrine, you can carry the giant spike metal ball with magnesium to beat the small guardian robots. It's basically like a companion box.
The death mountain on was super easy. You can light arrows in the blue fire and just shoot the next target. I did this shrine early game and didn't want to leave one of my weapons behind to use a torch ( no weapon slots lol ). At the parts where the arrows couldn't last long enough and the last bit where you have to spin attack, I just set one of my wooden weapons on fire.
The major tests of strength shrines are just a nightmare in master mode. And that is an understatement.

As long as you have decent weapons and can perfect block/dodge decently they aren't too bad
If you suck at the game like I do you don’t even need master mode for them to suck
I always forget the solution of the korok shrine. It’s super cryptic unless you a) notice that the consolations in the picture match the ones by the solutions. And b) count the # of each of the consolations. God have mercy if you miscounted

I think for new players it's probably the shrine on eventite but if you realise that you don't have to fight it's pretty easy
That or you just throw out a strong weapon before it starts. Threw out a strong sword and bow beat with ease although you need to throw the back out if you want to keep them.

I didn’t know how to flurry rush when I tried it and it was a nightmare 😭

Hardest shrine for me was the DLC one in the great plateau with all the spikes everywhere you had to platform around. It’s not so bad when I replay it, but that first time was brutal. Took me hours.
Not the hardest but I really liked the dual peak shrines since they were connected since you had to go to both of them so that you can solve them

@@blackcat09tails55 like a week before TotK released I found every Korok (after finding about 300 on my own I used a guide), it was pretty terrible but yeah. I did every quest, side quest, shrine quest, shrine, Korok, collected every piece of armor, upgraded every piece of armor to the max, killed every mini boss, and got every key item. It was a grind, but felt accomplishing and would recommend if you have time to kill like I did. Now all I need to do is beat the game on Master Mode
Rohta Chigah - It wouldn't be so bad under normal circumstances, but the one-hit kill aspect makes it damn annoying. I die at least two dozen times every time I get to it.
Who else somehow managed the figure out the Korok Forest shrine by staring at the wall with all the constellations for about half an hour?

I actually really enjoyed the one at Death Mountain.
The one where you have to stasis the orbs and aim them into those targets genuinely pissed me off so much i just learned how to wall clip with shield jumping and skipped to the end lol

I think the second last is fun. Since it's long and has a few more puzzles, it gives me a bit of a dungeon vibe
I struggle a lot with that one shrine that is in the DLC. I think it's one of Mipha's trials and there is a wall you need to climb by lifting metal blocks with magnesis and trying to use cyro to hold them in place. I have no idea how you're supposed to do it right🗿
(Also there is a chest on the other side, but I usually just use stasis and bomb arrows on that so it falls rather than trying to lift the climbing blocks up to reach it...)
I ended up cheering it with stasis to ride it up
Put a bomb under one of them, stasis, then explode the bomb, you will go up

Keo Ruug literally tells you how to solve it when you walk in
In a stupidly cryptic way that is referring to decoration that on cursory glance looks pretty much identical to the decoration in every shrine, which has never been relevant to solving puzzles in any other shrine. It’s obvious once you get it, but it requires the player to think about the shrine as a location in a completely different way from any other shrine in the game, and that isn’t instinctual or obvious for most people.

One of the hardest is defintely the hidden shrines in the Hebra mountains where you roll a snowball down a very rocky road. I ended up cheesing it by bringing a tiny snowball, using stasis to increase its size little by little until it opens the door.
One shrine I adore for showing player choice is that one where you need to hit the ball over water into a hole, but there are moving platforms. Cause most people see moving platforms and go "oh ok i have to stasis them to make them line up"...
But you can literally just cryonis bridge the balls to the holes making the entire puzzle trivial😂
For the last one you talked about, i just the camera on the tablet and photographed the two opposite shrine before to move anything, since the good placement for one is the initial placement of the other
That last one is NOT the twin shrines where you match the pattern. It is a different one with constellations on the walls, Keo Ruug.
I don’t know which one it is but I actually gave up on one, it involved using gyro controls to move a cube round, which had like 4 torches on it that you needed to light, but there was water pointing down on it.
I have the combo to that shrine memorized. It’s 5312. It’s a great shrine to practice shield clipping which I’m addicted to, so I’ve been there a bunch.
Fateful stars: stand on the platform and use the scope to look at the stars forwards on the board. Then the holes are placed in rows behind the constellations. Count how many constellations there are on the big board then put them in the holes best to the candles which show the number.

Ohhh, I hate that one with a passion. The fire one was frustrating, but really fun.
In fact, that forest shrine was one of the ones that I loved the most, it took me a few minutes to theorize the solution and it was incredibly satisfying to solve it the truth

Some puzzles were so hard I had to use a guide. So I used 120 guides
The hardest part about that shrine is not finding the answer, but finding the question.
I remember spending way more time trying to cheese the death mountain one with windbombs than the time I would have spent doing the shrine the way it was intended to.

I was never able to beat the Keo Ruug shrine because I never realized that the star patterns were part of the puzzle. The whole time I just thought they were decorations.

That Korok Shrine was so close to giving me a stroke. I went straight to YT after 20 minutes of trying.
I have to admit. The Shrine at the Kokorok Forest is the only shrine i could not solve on my own. I spent so long on it that i was getting upset and my mind could not comprehend what to do.

The hardest shrines in speed runs are the blessing shrines because there's no reason to wind bomb, so you have to run. And there's a chest blocking all their paths.

those wee all the hardest shrines? huh, I didn't even realize. they all felt fairly straight forward to me.
I hated eventide. All my scavenged weapons broke before I could do significant damage to the Hynox, so I resorted to throwing 100 freaking remote bombs on him, and hitting him with a metal box.
I tried to glide on while he was asleep too, but couldn’t grab the orb for some reason, but I finished it luckily, only took 5 tries and no saving in the middle 😭😂
The bit in champions ballad dlc with 1 heart and the 1 hit obliterater is way harder
But i did throw too many remote bombs at the hinox too

My fav shrine, i love it because it's tricky.
There is one like that in the dlc, also the circle alignment in tears of the kingdom.
I managed to solve them all without searching (spent lot of hours trying to figure out anyway...), the dlc one was actually easy but fateful stars and circle alignment was equally hard for me.
I am eternally proud of myself for getting the constellation one without any help
That Korok Forest shrine was easy lmao, I distinctly remember taking forever to figure out how to do the shrines on the twin peaks. It was something to do with needing eachother to solve both I think? Idk, I just remember taking forever on them.

one of the hardest is for sure the extra chest in that shrine where you stasis and hammer a ball and try to get it into a hole over the water

For me it was the DLC shrine "Stop to Start". There is no room for error in that living nightmare of a challenge course.

I've played throught the game like a dozen times and I just now figured out how to solve Keo Rugg without a guide

The one in Korok forest is simple, just look at how many lines symbols there are on the walls, and find out how many of each one there are. It reminds me of the Twin Memories shrine

The one in the desert where you have to deliver ice. Not only do you have to carry the ice block very far before it melts, you have to bring it in the area with all the woman and navigate through the area just to find the perosn you have to give the ice block too
You could also… yknow… windbomb through every shrine.

Shrines are one thing.. I was super proud of my 200 Kroc seeds I fond while naturally playing the game. Turns out there’s 900
I HATED the golfing one. That one drove me absolutely insane
The goron one was so nice. I loved the long format it had
I’m thankful that I got through that hell. Now I need 770 Korak seeds and all side quest finished to 100% the game. (Is at only 34% and is trying to find ways to not find a cliff irl and test for fall damage)
